  • Bob Hite and Alan Wilson must be so fuckin' proud....(sarcasm)

  • @Jegor666 No one should sing and play this song but Alan Wilson. He played 5 parts on it and did it to perfection. Some people are still trying to make money out of Alan's talent and musical genius.

  • Alan Wilson would be rolling over in his grave if he heard this vocal - this guy's awful!

  • lead singer looks like dion-from the belmonts-----------------------i think drummer is only oridginal member in this clip?

  • ewwww

  • yeah, its true¡¡ the master mexican FITO DE LA PARRA its the original drummer, hollyshit¡¡ magical vibrations¡¡

  • dornstadt woostock open air 2011 germany

  • Hey I admit my singing really did suck that day. I was fighting a few things first I felt like shit and second I couldn't hear shit on stage. I don't want to make excuses but that is how it was for me that day. Sorry we can't be right on everytime....Stanley B.

  • @bluesbaron Hey Stanley- it's obvious you can't hear yourself. That is shitty when that happens. So, my question to all you singers out there is, what the hell are we supposed to do. I have tried everything. There must be a way to get on key when we can't hear ourselves. I have heard people do national anthems without monitors or earpieces and they sound ok. They must be listening to themselves somehow. Any ideas????

  • luv it

  • He's got Mad Harp Skillz!

  • da werden Erinnerungen wach ... :.-))) ... 1974 bin ich im VW mit dieser Musik auf den Ohren nach Indien gefahren ... :-))))))

  • Not the Canned Heat of my youth, but good 'ol Fito just keeps this thing going!

  • Terrible singing. Even the music is off.

  • The man can play that harp to sound almost like Al Wilson and that isn,t easy I can tell you.He could never replicate Als voice so what the fuck.If people could sound exactly like others what would be the point of being original.

  • the photographer jumping on stage at 0:37

  • jeeses cryst! whooo's this freak!?

  • this is fab i love it.....

  • Können jemand mich lehren, wie die Stimme zu verschwinden? wirklich erschrecklich

  • @fabiovel

was fürn deutsch hast du denn gelernt? :D

  • the sound is awesome but the voice of the singer is crap!!!!!!

  • @Lolix14

he sings like alan "blind owl" wilson...

  • @ELMAKIRETURNS

    not :P

  • Not even close. Time for the band to RIP. Very animated. Junk.

  • really superb!!!

  • this is the canned heat dumbass

  • @russell5419 Canned Heat has changed its lineup many a time since bob the bear Henry Vestine and the blind owl.

  • I'll go ahead and make this point very clear... No one can impersonate the vocals of the late Alan Wilson... This guy tried but came up short... I don't even think that this is the real Canned Heat anyways... The only standing original member at the time of this recording was drummer Adolfo "Fito" de la Perra and that drummer doesn't really look like him...

  • @theloveshack18 the drummer is defintely not "Fito". Dosn't even play like him. No videos were available back then so we only had the records and this guy is not the same guy on the record. I had the album at one time with this song on it. Still got the single. The only one I have seen in photos is the bear

  • No one can be exactly like someone else. Most people think the Harmonica is an easy instrument to learn, however, it may be the hardest to learn because it is so personal. Stanley "The Baron" Behrens is playing the Harp and doing vocals. I can tell you that there are very few players who can do this song and IMO Stan can do it better than anyone since "Blind Owl". I know since I used to watch him play the song in 1968 and he was great then and that 545S mic has been with him since then.

  • Best karaoke I could do after 25 years of harp playing, he as the high note tuned right on that A harp, the vocals lack Alan's voice which like all Canned Heat fans miss. Saw them last summer the vocals were worse yet still Fito showed up....

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats not Canned Heat!!!

  • @madmexart Have any of you guys ever heard early Canned Heat music? This is great!!

  • @jurgenmanfred, the drummer Fito de La Parra is the only one from the original band present here

  • Fito de La Parra, drummer, and Harvey Mandel, guitar, from the original Canned Heat band are still around

  • The dude on the left at :25-:37 really knows where the good mushrooms are at.

  • Awful version! What's about the drummer? No face? Is that realy canned heat?

  • This is not the real Canned Heat. All the key figures in the original band-Wilson, Vestine ,Hite-are long dead. But i think this is a fairly good imitation. This one preserves the tembura and harp orientation of the original. The singer does an adequate imitation of Wilson`s high voice.

The boyish look of Hite and Wilson are not here.And-understandably-the sound is a bit different. But I`ve heard worse remakes.

  • they still got it! vox's a bit thin tho..

  • Decent revival... with to hear them live

  • will someone help me to find the real canned heat

  • @jurgenmanfred ...I'm sorry but I think most of the original band members died. It is very sad.

  • @jurgenmanfred You can find them easily. Just go to Woodstock.

  • @jurgenmanfred I just gave up finding: The most next to it is this tiny clip of 1 minute. Shame. And the piece is SO cute!!

  • This is not the original Canned Heat

  • E4287646 - LOL, must have been a superlong version of it to last 350kms!

    Great track

  • i love this song how Cool .

  • I remember hearing this back around 1967/68...when I was little, my Dad liked this song...

  • I played the original whilst driving 3500 kms across the nullabour austrailia fantastic

  • Music from better (music)times.

    Greatings from Holland.

    Thank for this clip.

  • How do they make that noise?

The constant buzzing/jungle noise on the background, i think its made by a string or something.

  • Yep, this sound can be make with guitar, with glass on strings

  • thanks

  • woodstock+creedence

  • Woodstock.. Im checking out CCR now , then the Who, then ...===

  • Man, was this what Woodstock was like? My diety

  • Or maybe its him - lead singer

  • This is the original Canned Heat withut lead singer

  • The singer is supposed to sound like that.

  • The drummer is the only original player to my information....the poster

  • @liveviddy You are so right Fito de la Parra is the only ,all time member of the band, a mexican guy born in Mexico City by the way.

  • That sounded like he was mocking the blind owl, some nice harp though

  • foarte frumoasa melodia. :) pacat ca noi romanii nu cunoastem cultura muzicala:( canned heat sunt chiar clasici

  • Is there any original member in this line-up. If so, wich one?

  • yes, fito de la parra.

  • Who was in the 60's original band here? The roadie??

  • The harmonica player is awesome. I just watched another recent lineup video of them playing Goin' Up the Country and it was horrible, no soul. This video is much, MUCH better. Perhaps they were just having a bad night, this is great.

  • you must have bad hearing, this is an awful version of this.

  • If you mean his singing, yes. It's pretty bad.

  • Troppo forti i Canned Heat!!! non pensavo ci fossero ancora, bè dai meglio cosi'.

  • Stanley "The Baron" Behrens

  • Musically speaking, I, personally, feel Fito de la Parra had a line-up here that represented his band's legacy admirably. But I agree with those here who are a bit put off by the singing. It sounds kind of funny to me, in places.

The late Al Wilson emulated legendary blues singer Skip James' vocal style, and I feel he was a lot better at doing that then this fellow, though I think Behrens' harmonica playing is strong.

All in all, I feel this line-up was a band of pretty good musicians.

  • The only person I've ever heard sing this

song like blind owl,is Vince LaBauve

  • Yeah, very happy to play the harpoon methinks, and blinding

  • sorry, but the singing sucks. You can give me thubs down, but the singing sucks. I like the other guys, but not the singer.

  • Hahaha, I have to agree with you, it does get a little better as the song goes on, but its definitely not that good.

  • He shouldn't be trying to imitate Alan. That is the only problem. It sounds best in Alan's voice but he isn't here and they should have avoice like Bob Hite's, deeper in tone. Anybody sounds good with it as long as they mean it and try to make it good. That is what makes it good.

  • @KippeTokkeTokHaan Agreed, agreed, & agreed. There was and always will be only one Alan Wilson.

  • @KippeTokkeTokHaan ... The singing always sucked BUT what didn't suck was the heart and soul from the band and the "catchy tunes" they did. The songs got "stuck in your head" with the beats. Peace.

  • Great! Nice harp playing and he even sounds like The Owl.

  • very good !!!!

  • Exactly. The band Canned Heat has remained the same for more than four decades. They have never quit, there has never been several different "Canned Heats" touring at the same time etc. Of course, Blind Owl, Bear and Sunflower will always have a special place, but we mustn't forget all the other great musicians who was tributed to the CH-project over the years: Harvey Mandel, Ronnie Barron, Hollywood Fats, James T, Richard Hite - just to name a few. Don't forget to boogie!

  • I don't know who these guys really are, but I recall that Canned Heat had some problems with personnel after "Blind Owl" Al Wilson died. I can't remember if I ever knew how it all happened, but this band had more incarnations with multiple Canned Heat bands playing at once - it was an odd little bit of trivia that I'm not sure anyone knows the full story. Do the posters know?

  • This video shows the line up Canned Heat had between late 1999 and late 2005: Stanley Behrens (vocals, harmonica, flute), Dallas Hodge (guitar, vocals), John Paulus (lead guitar), Greg Kage (bass, vocals) and Fito de la Parra (drums, vocals). The current line up (2005 to present) includs Kage, de la Parra, Robert Lucas and Barry Levenson. I would estimate that some 50 musicians have been part of Canned Heat since the first formation of the band in 1965.

  • I guess that as long as there have not been lawsuits between surviving members, nothing is wrong with one original member carrying on. From all I have gathered and the ongoing enthusiasm for Canned Heat, I would venture to say that "Canned Heat" went from a specific band to almost a musical movement, a spirit that goes on regardless of the players. And in my book, that is an acheivement. Don't forget to boogie, boogie, boogie!
