  • Sharpness and quickness is artistry too. It keeps you on your toes and it makes it flow without the 'dance' and 'arm movements'. just check out deng linlin's beam.

  • whayyy- she wobbled

  • she is fav gynas

  • she actually has a decent switch ring.

  • i think jiang is okay on Uneven bars, balance beam, and vault. her floor is extremely cute

  • id say beam is jiangs weakest apparatus...unlike most if not all the chinese gymnasts her jumps r below parr...

  • Miss the old times, apart from Kui and Mo and Yang Bo, I like Fan Ye too <3

  • wow, I wish I could do that *.*

  • I get so tired of the fact that the Chinese have such beautiful skills but NO dance. They don't even make an attempt at it, but rather just pause or wave their arms.

  • Yeah, unfortunately the training philosophy has changed. I remember in the late 1990s how great Kui Yuanyuan and Mo Huilan were.

  • Oh, I loved Kui and Mo! And we can't forget Yang Bo, of course...seriously, the Chinese aren't the only ones, but I guess because they have such beautiful form (most of the time) it's more apparent that they lack the dance skills. They could do it well if they tried!

  • LOL, arm waving... I do prefer Americans' way of arm waving, particular Sacramone's provocative ones. Pause ... we Chinese call what Nastia Liukin did after her front aerial a pause, but you would probably call it connection, right?

  • We weren't discussing the American team and their lack of dance here. That's for another discussion (by the way, I generally agree with you). You are just deflecting criticism of the Chinese gymnasts onto the American gymnasts; you ignore the truth in what I'm saying. In my opinion, the Russian and Romanian juniors are the only ones who are bringing real dance back into the sport.

  • I am just pointing out that you should criticize Jiang's routine not Chinese ones. Romanian ones... ok, pls name a few who have competitive D scores, otherwise, make an appointment with an optometrist to check out whether your criticism only partially focus on Chinese gymnasts.

  • Was I talking about D scores? Nope, not one bit. To be honest, I would give up difficulty for more complex dance. Why do you think people still revere Nadia Comaneci today? Her routines are nowhere near as difficult as routines now, but her fluidity and dance were unmatched.

  • you revere Comaneci, but don't generalize it . At least she is not my cup of tea. She is just a "legend" deliberately created by the FIG to expand the popularity of gymnastics. There are tons of gymnasts keep making revolutionary breakthrough and bringing innovation to gymnastics. You should remember their names not this "legendary" figure made by the FIG and US media

  • i think gymnastics today looks terrible. theres no dance. no flow. NO ART. its heartbreaking to watch it get worse and worse every year. yes the moves these gymnasts are pulling today are incredible, but thats all they r doing. element after element. no dance. no personality. robots almost. souless routines. i still find myself watching nadia comeneci more than any other gymnast and its purely because she is beautifull to watch.

  • @jordynbartlett19

Once again, it's the code's problems. Don't blame gymnasts. I personally like the code, which makes thing fair and transparent. Judges make judgements solely based on executions and difficulty, instead of subjective interpretation. For instance, I am not a big Comeneci fan because her style doesn't cater my aesthetics.

  • yeah it is the code not the gymnasts but even so a LOT of gymnasts these days could seriously improve what dance they have in their routines. they look aweful. executions and difficulty.. gym isnt a diving competition, atleast it shouldnt be. i would trade the 'fair and transparent' part of this sport any day.have a look at svetlana boginskaya's 1985 junior international routine in tokyo. every time i see it it makes me smile. gymnastics looked so light on the feet and fun back then..

  • Since you want to see female dance so desperately, why don't you buy yourself a drink in a strip bar?

    About the so-called real dance....

semenova's BB routine won't qualify her for BB finals in China's national games, period.

  • Also, it is called women's ARTISTIC gymnastics for a reason. I definitely expect that there be artistic dance in the routine. Your comment is silly and childish; what does making an intelligent critique about gymnastics have to do with drinking in a strip bar? Grow up.

  • heard about natural selection? If you are ruled out by selection, you are extinct. The ones fail to comply the new code are what I called gymnastics dinosaurs. Chinese gymnasts are born to dance. If Grandi rewards artistry, Chinese would happy to show the world they are the most elegant ones. The reality is, the ones who fail to improve their difficulty level are the ones who are nostalgic about the old ages. Be smart

  • pls tell me why men's gymnastics is also called artistic gymnastics? I am far more intelligent than you are. Therefore, I can discern your potential expectation to see pure femininity in gymnastics. In other words, you are looking for objects to project your debased male ego. Hahahaha

  • The joke's on you. How can I have a debased male ego when I am a woman? Intelligent? I don't think so. I will prove that I am the more intelligent one by ending this conversation with you now; to continue it would be lowering myself to your level: mere stupidity.

  • hahaha, you must be a butch who can't appreciate "artistry" of male gymnastics. Why don't you answer my question? Leaving a partial & subjective judgement does approve your lofty level, LOL

I am also ending this conversation by suggesting that some Americans need enlightenment.

  • Jiang Yuyuan is not beam specialist, the Chinese gymnasts that are specialists have the whole package beauty, dance and can flow. This gymnast is best on floor and an AA competitor. and she clearly out of sorts going so far over time.

Shawn Johnson had no dance but her routine flowed and looked effortless, that makes a great beam routine, though I prefered Anna Pavlova in style...It may be call Artistic Gymnastic but its sport not art.

  • she improved so much compared to nationals

  • wow! pretty good! just a little of improvement. really. not that much! sorry

    !! haha

    ...bye :)

  • i love you for uploading these!

  • great job at great games

  • yuanyuan improved a lot on beam!

  • Still not at all confident but this is an improvement! :) Go Jiang!

Excellent quality, thx so much for uploading!

  • GREAT JOB!
