'breaking in' an engine is the biggest myth in the motoring industry. Its meant to be done hard.....with lots of full throttle pulls. To 'grind' the rings into shape while the bores are still rough.

If the engine has a PROPER hone job (which it should!) then it has to be done hard and quick....because after a little while the cylinder wall surface will be too smooth to effectively grind the rings into shape.....then your stuffed and u have to re-ring and hone the engine all over again!. Forget all the bullshit u think u know.

after the engine heats up it is imperitive you put heavy loads on the engine in short bursts for the first couple min then beat the piss out of it... you can lose a lot of horsepower with glazed cylinders from rings not seating properly . marek0086 is correct! listen to top engine builders!
