The pressure which you exert to tighten the bolt/nut is measured by foot pounds. It's good to follow the specifications regarding how tight things should be, because some hardware can't handle too tight of a torque and could snap as a result of over tightening. This is easily achieved by using a Torque Wrench.
im not familar with fixing cars yet but what do you means but 72 lbs of torque
