  • Great !

  • Thank you very much Awesome song !!!!!!!!!!1

  • Applaud, Applaud, Applaud, !!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is one of my favourite marty robbins songs

  • My stepdad had a copy of "Gunfighter Ballads And Trail Songs" when he married my mom when I was six and I have been a Marty Robbins fan for 40 years and vividly remember this song ( I always thought it might make a good movie-imagine the storm/stampede scene!) Thanks christianscrosier for the upload and the memory......................

  • I loved Marty Robbins, but i don't think anyone could have loved him more than my mom !!! His voice was so beautiful !

  • good voice good songs one of the best

  • i loved Marty's songs also.

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKES A DAMN TRIBUTE, ESPECIALLY TO MARTY!!!!!!!!

  • storytellin' music

  • no one can match marty robbins music its just not done

  • MY FIRST ALBUM,I WILL NEVER FORGET RIP

  • In 1961 I heard "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" played at my school in Phonix.

I loved "The Masters Call" and bought the record. 50 years later I still have the record in mint condition and still play the song once or twice a year. When I go to the round-up in the sky it will be played at funeral. Great singer and great song.

  • do Marty Robbins fans consider Elvis to be a big wheel in country .. or not?

  • When I started to play country, this was the song that got me hooked. Some folks say I sound like Marty but I don't. Because of his influence My phrasing is similar but no way do I sound like him. Marty's the best and I'm glad I got see him at one of his last concerts. God bless Marty and all his fans.

  • This song used to scare me when i first heard it.

  • I had no idea the Marty Robbins was a stock cars driver.

  • @63gstone I heard Marty would go race at Nashiville Race track between sets when he played at the Grand ole

Opry. I also heard one time he had an illegal engine in a stock car, passed everyone on the track , then immediatly got out of the race and turned himself in to the racing officials. Don't know if any of this is actually true , just what I heard. Also they need more marty robbins stuff at the Country music hall of fame, don't remember seeing much on him there.

  • Thank you, Joanne

  • Me as a child and a Gunfighters Ballad LP equaled a good day. It inspired within me the desire to know about history and the individuals who shaped it. It made me want to live a life that could be crooned about by a grizzled ole cowboy. No cowboy will ever sing of my deeds here on earth, but hopefully there will come a time when I sit by a campfire in the sky while Mr. Robbins puts it to a tune.

  • I grew up with all these songs, in the 60's and 70's in the Snowy Mountains, riding horses doing cattle work, riding steers, going to Rodeo's with my mate Jimmy Piece, oh those were the days.

    Len

  • I cant see how ANYONe can not like this..... those two either mis-clicked or..... they MUSt be damaged.

  • the "church" (not my own relationship with THE MASTER) has been mean and evil to me and mine 9think Fred phelps and fiends...uhhhh.. friends) but this is my favorite "cowboy spiritual" and I cry as often as not when I hear it.... again and again. Marty was a TRU gift! Many performers give the impression that they like what they do, but with Marty you could TELL that he LOVED to perfrom... especially LIVE. One Opery show he did he refused to leave the stage and Roy Acuff finally jus went home

  • Hi there HapyJac - as a city boy from Melb Aus, I grew up with these songs and loved the music too - still do, Warmest greetings to you big man at Holbrook Station - Graham

  • This is one of the great ones, Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton and the like. Singers today could learn a great deal from these great singers. Just one senior opinion. I love these old songs.

  • the 2 people that disliked this song your worthless ;)

  • Well, My husband has always loved Marty Robbins and I, the "city girl", learned to love him too! IMO, this is the BEST song he ever sang and today (1-17-11) is the first time I have ever heard it! Thank God for giving us Marty and the ability to keep his voice alive for us and future generations!! Wonderful story togs71!! We should all be affected like that and have those memories by some singer/song. For me, it is ANY John Denver song! Now don't go booing me, he DID have an incredible voice!

  • did I say I have known this tune my whole life & it is good..

Its good to have it close again.

  • there will never be another marty. either before or after his time among us. God rest you marty! you are never forgotten.

  • Revelation by Waylon Jennings is another great one that makes you think..

  • This is a trip!!! I can remember sitting in front of my parents old record player console, next to my sister, singing this song! WOW, still LOVE IT!!!

  • marty robins is God

  • Thank God we had him for awhile.

  • iquinn1970: Your comment is a year old so I know there's not much chance you will see this, but I had to respond to what you said about being headed in the other direction. It just broke my heart to read that. Why? You don't have to earn heaven, you know. It's a free gift God offers to all of us through His Son, Jesus. Jesus died to pay for our sins so we don't have to be headed in the other direction. Please give God a chance & accept his gift of forgiveness & eternal life. You won't regret it!

  • good song

  • 2:26 does that look like Jimmy Gibbs Jr's stock car from Left for Dead 2?

    but yeah, great song

  • Amen our we have a God of second chances. All because of His Son Jesus. For all remember as Jesus hung on that tree of woe, no nails ever made could hold Him. What held Him fast to the Cross was Love. Love of His Father and Love of Us..Thank You Lord, Amen..

  • @mtnmanquin Beautifuly said!

  • a friend played this to drownd out a lod party it broke upa nd the guys left

  • Great song!:) *****

  • it is a very good song . nothing more or less.

  • To me there is no other song, whose words, creates such a spiritually vivid picture of God's mercy and forgoiveness.

  • This was Marty's best!!!!

  • franklindavid, I agree with you. We all loved him and I thought he and Dean Martin were the two best of all time.

  • I don"t think there is a better voice (before or after) Marty. This song should be played more on radio stations, but I"m just an old cowboy who just has an opnion, thank GOD for MARTY ROBBINS.

  • @lpsnbds As one ol' cowboy to another, I grew up with this music and loved it. The classic westerns are like us ol' cowboys. We're not gone, you just don't see us from the road.

    L8R daze,

Hapy Jac, Mountain Man, Holbrook Station, Nevada, U.S.A.

  • @lpsnbds Josh Groban is up there right next to him. I'm just a young Feleena with an opinion. ;)

  • @lpsnbds .. I wondered ...do Marty Robbins fans consider Elvis to be a big wheel in country .. or not?

  • Musthang I heard this in 1963 0r 64 I never forgot it although i never heard it again till 1980s One night in. 1970 in Viet Nam Was my night to die. I remember this song and John 3.16

  • ok what I dont really get is did he die at the end or when he says " the night the savior called my name" did he die or was it the expression he used when he say God?

  • he survived and swore never to do bad again so he learned his lessen as he heard his maters call

    xD hope i helped

  • No he didn't die then. That was the day he was born-again. Anyone who has received this "new birth" that Jesus himself talks about to Nicodemus in John Chapter 3 understands what it means when the "Savior calls your name." That's the day when you respond to God's call on your life by inviting Jesus to come into your heart and to be your Lord and Savior. Have you done that yet? It's not to late. Take care of business before to hit the exit door of this life.

  • 1nickpukalo: Amen brother!! September 23, 1993.

  • This was the only song that would put me to sleep as a baby! I recently discovered that Marty Robbins was led to Christ by Tony Alamo while doing a show in a restaurant. The US government is presently trying to destroy this man's church by false allegations. Watch some of the videos made by "tlthe5th" on this subject.

  • Unique voice! the best voice in Country music, he is the best.

  • Sorry I have to take it further. I think the greatest singer in any genre. Just my opinon. He is also my alltime music hero, him and Chet atkins

  • @shortynshoni a man after ny own heart. he was the best singer ever in any genre. my favorite singer of all time. there will never be anyone that can match or equal him. rest in peace marty. we miss you always

  • Marty had a very unique style of singing, noone will ever take his place as a legend in country music. He was very good.

  • I was thrilled to discover that the man who wrote and sang El Paso and so many other great songs during his lifetime that touched so many people also, like myself, and many others came to realize that their was more to life than fame and fortune and having fun. The Savior did call Marty's name and Marty accepted His free gift of salvation. This song is evidence that he did, without a doubt. My guess is that he wrote and sang this song so others like you might come to know Jesus as he did.

  • Did I see Del Parson as the artist in the picture of Christ in the garden?

  • Marty Robbins wqas one of the great Cowboy and Western singers, and this was my all time favourite of his songs. Still sounds so fresh, I love it

  • I was raised with country music. Ths Bloke is amongest the top 10. He had one of the best voices. I loved him singing Singing the blues and crying steel guitar. Long live his memory and his music.

  • there will never be another, the one and only,.............R.I.P. Mister Marty Robins

  • There will only EVER be one Marty Robbins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That song puts chills on me.

  • This song and voice still sounds the same after all these passed years... Inspiring & pure. I first heard it when it was newly released and played on AM stations. FM broadcasts were still a ways in my future. We miss you Marty.

  • I love all of Marty Robbins songs from old Pop to Rockabilly to country. This is a special song. Thank you for posting.

  • My father introduced me to Marty and Johny Horton. I thank him for it because these were men who sang a story and did it without the aid of electronic boosters. True talent

  • A wonderful song, best heard without the cheezy graphics. Leave well enough alone.

  • thats why it is a tribute video

  • I understand your point, I think, but I'd rather just hear the song without the video, and let this marvelous piece of musical poetry do the rest in my own mind. Most songs are just BETTER without video, but I guess a generation raised on MTV probably disagrees with me.

  • LOL while i am young enough to be considered an MTV generation person I prefer CMT and Gospel music. I just like it because you don't really see any pictures of Marty anywhere. I saw him in concert twice before his untimely death in 1982. I went and saw him with my grandma when I was 7 and 8. LOL cried like it was my mom who had passed instead of a singer. I agree with you most are much better with just the music speaking, I just like tributes though. :o)

  • mparcher I too served in Vietnam and also was afected my Marty's songs. He was the best of the best and his music will live long past Him. I feel sorry for all the people who will never hear or know of him.

  • There will never be another like him RIP Marty.

    Dave

  • Every time I hear this song I think of my experience in Vietnam. You can change the words some but the meaning is the same. I'm now confused on faith but this song captures the Vietnam experience so well.

  • WOW!! can you expand on that a little!! powerful words!! or maybe share an experience? glad to know you got out of there alive. cheers

  • A moving tribute to one of the true greats.

    He is missed for sure.

  • A legend. I won't see him as headed in the other direction. but thanks for the music god

  • I wish artists were as good as Marty now. A voice I hear in my head when I think and hear western music. Marty, you were the best. I cried when I heard you died. I felt, who can take your place. Really , no one. Great times, great places, great sound. See you in the land up younder. Thank you.

  • WOW !! This was an outstanding tribute to our dear Marty; wonderful photos as you showed his story and about the words of his song!

My parent went to hear him many years ago and bragged about how good he was then; he was up to the end!

God bless you Marty for bringing us all your wonderfull music and song writing!

  • You did a wonderful job of putting together the video, thanks.

  • I grew up listening to Marty Robbins' classics. They were, and still are some of the greatest music around. I liked them so well, a few were transferred over to my mp3 player. To me, he outshines alot of today's singers.

  • Wonderful--as all of Marty's songs are. He was and still is a national treasure. We will love you forever, Marty!

  • Love this song.

  • my dad loved marty robbins. when i was a boy my dad asked me to put on martys album every weekend, he knew i loved setting up the records. my dad passed away 2 years ago, its only now i can listen to marty again. although its very hard, so many good memories. god bless you dad and marty x

  • @togs71 my dad loved him also...

  • The Days of such awesome talent are gone. As a boy I listed to Marty Robbins, his ballads were so real... I grew up in the very land he sung about. The first record I bought was Marty Robbins, I wore it out! I request Marty all the time on the local country stations, as a way for younger generations to hear real talent. The younger generations like his music when they hear it. Marty was a man's man, and a naturally funny character too. RIP. Marty we all miss you.

  • Great song!

  • I hope yo meet you in Heaven some day. Then you can sing all your songs. And at last I can meet you. Farwell old friend---until we meet again.

  • What a voice!!!!

  • Thank you old friend for all the great songs of the west...........

  • I'm a rock and roll fan classic rock that is but I have always loved Marty Robbins Thanks for posting this great song.

  • Same here I love AC/DC, Priest, Zeppelin, Scorps etc..., but I've loved this guys music since I heard my dad playin it when I was little kid. Truly unique sound!

  • And my Master said: Come to me all who are tired and I will give you... "Rest". Well I am living proof that His Rest is real. Seek Him and you will find Him..

A very powerful song of find, and giving ones life over to Christ...Lord bless all who listen to this...

  • great and powerful song

  • Marty Robbins was such a favorite of my mother's, she named my older brother after him.

This is one of my favorite songs by Marty. Great job! :D

  • I love marty man! can't get enough, been listening to him since I was 4

  • Recently got his 'gunfighter ballads and trail songs' cd, remastered, oldest record i own but definately part of my 'a' list. Very masculine stuff.
