  • He should have went out in a gun fight.

  • I bet that Sam pissed his bet every night he was in the kidnapper's house, just like he pissed his bed in the "Bed-Wetting" episode. The Arn Anderson-looking kidnapper probably voluntarily gave up Sam after the entire house began to reek of the smell of urine!

  • so wait, the lesson of the episode is "never talk to strangers"? what kind of a society were they trying to raise back then?? how about more like, "be careful and aware of people you don't know, or don't get into a damn car with one of them, or smarten up and learn to spot an obvious lie by a douchey fat dude in a grocery store"?? i was suspicious of any stranger when i was really young, but not PARANOID.

  • @bijibadness whenever you say never talk to strangers, you mean kids never talk to mother or father's wrong friend.

  • Willis and Kimberly don't care about Sam.

  • I agree with you pgzstudioes

  • Poor Bobby Budnick....

  • @SnakeMan227 Does anyone know he used to be on this nickelodeon show called Salute Your Shorts in the 90s?

  • I like that the kid had a lot more common sense then his dad and did the right thing

  • @pgzstudioes he did seem like a real friendly kid.

  • I love how sam jumps in mr drummonds arms when he finds him

  • We can't get seasons 3-7 of this classic show on DVD, yet I saw season 4 of Coach at my local Target. Injustice!!!

  • @LrodJr agreed!!!!!!!!

  • I just wish they showed what happened to the family after this episode.

  • @BokanProductions probably in the deleted scenes

  • i felt really bad for the mom who lost her son in the accident ,now she has to deal with losing another son and husband too

  • In real life a doctor would probably have to examine Sam before he returned home.

  • The father was just confused he couldn't stand to see his wife depressed any longer it's like he wasn't thinking of the consequences but still what he did was wrong I'm jsut willing to bet he will have no problem with going to jail.

  • Damn I saw that episode as a kid and now seeing it as an adult, it's amazing what it can do to you. God help anyone kidnap someone I love and care about, one thing I think about it that ticks me off, the guy was so desperate to get Sam to come with him he brought the bible into it to get Sam to feel bad and go with him.

  • this shit is painful to watch but atleast arnold saved the day! BLACK POWER. i thought this show was about a rich white man adopting two poor black kids from harlem...not about some country bumpkin little cracker and his annoying southern wannabe mother. i can see why gary coleman wanted to quit! sam is a horrible actor and a real pain in the ass...and why the hell was he squinting? BLACK POWER

  • @chitownsfinest1235 for god sakes just watch the video forget about race man

  • "Whats the phone number?"

    "914-555-641"

"Good job with this phone number, now we know exactly where he is."

    Fail.

  • i like that the crowd didnt clap when the bad acting mother finally embraced sam after they cheered when he first got in. i remember her annoying me as much then as she does now

  • hey potsi she thinks she has lost her son.

  • I hate to say it, but this woman who played Sam's mother is a terrible actress. She is way too dramatic and is overacting the whole time. You can have emotion without having to show it overtly. She is pushing way too much.

  • I hate to say it, but this woman who played Sam's mother is a terrible actress. She is way to dramatic and is overacting the whole time. You can have emotion without having to show it overtly. She is pushing way too much.

  • @Potsie791 I thought i was the only one who felt that way. I absolutely agree with you

  • Wow, they sure weren't acting like they had a family member missing and probably dead when they were sitting at the breakfast table.

  • The housekeeper is the same actress who's the voice of Mrs. Puff on Spongebob!

  • @HCShannon she looks like mrs. puff too LMAO!

  • they have an episode where her son died

  • dad did it because he's a prison monster in the making.

  • Is that supposed to be Arnold in Sam's drawing?

  • I feel sorry the mother and son, but i have no sympahty for the father. Even though they were mourning the loss of their child, but the father didn't think twice before doing something stupid like kidnapping somebody else's child and worst the Mother and Son was not aware of what was going on.

Different Strokes is a Great Show with a message to it.

  • Man this is a strange sit-come...

    - A scenes of a mother suffering beacose her child been kidnapt

    - A child kidnapt and threten murder

    - Another mother who's child died and act histerical...

This is pretty intence stuff for a comedy show... Still pretty cool

  • Mr. Drummond's a real father to Sam unlike that psycho who stole Sam. What a great episode this is!

  • Drummond is the shit.

  • SAM IS THE SON OF THE RICH DUDE AND THE BROTHER TO THE ADOPTED KIDS

  • 1:54 why is he screaming?! Who knows what John Wayne Gacy would have done if he heard him telling his son all that shit.

  • I started crying toward the end.

  • Gary Coleman just Died!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Must be a pretty big box!" LMAO!

  • RIP Dixie CARTER

  • "Must be a pretty big box...." FAIL

  • @kips4life 2:05 that's what she said!

  • why would someone kidnapp someone else child for no reason

  • yes butthat swtil doe nt make kidnappng rigt and why did he would kill sams parents

  • He wouldn't. He was just scaring Sam to keep him quiet.

  • so said

  • Mr. D. to the rescue!

  • wtf, is the laughing really necessary? its like the writers said, "you know what this collection of human pain and suffering needs? a laugh track."

  • lol ghosevil.. i used to watch this a lot

  • wow, this show wasn't even apart of my generation and i got sucked into this episode.

  • this is one of the best episode I have ever seen in my whole life

  • what a great actress.

  • this is one of my favorite episodes ;0

  • i agree with jdub0776 adopt a kid not KIDNAPP ONE!! SHEESH!

  • like the big guy said, "it might take years to do the paper work for adoption" im not supporting him, but he does have a point. not that i care really.

  • omg that scene when the maid broke down after setting a place for sam just made me cry...

  • This is not the way I remember the episode, I remember watching something like this. The whole family goes shopping, Sam gets separated. Sam knocks down a stack of cans or something. A man sees him, they start talking. The family searches for Sam. They never find him and that was the final episode. It is implied that the man who saw Sam knock down the display of cans kidnapped him. That is what I remember unless it is a different show. Any idea of this or what show it was on?

  • Rose is pathetic for trying to steal the spotlight! She shouldn't be crying, she knows damn well Sam wasn't there so why set a plate?! smh

  • Mr. Drummond always saves the day!

  • i cried.

  • WTF.....Y They KiDNaPP SAM 4....Don't TheY EvER HeArD Of AdoPTioN AGeNcY.......!

  • how did tommy die?

  • He had Tay Sachs disease.

  • They never said, but I am guessing a car accident or something since they mentioned an accident.

  • I remember this episode very well, and the climax to Mr. Drummond finding Sam and the reaction to the audience applauding...was good and Maggie reuniting with her son...that's great memories.

  • u cant steal a kid to replace one. hmmm can anyone say Madona?

  • I thought Dana had left the show in Season 8?

  • HA i love diffrent strokes. i like the older episodes better.

  • I remember this episode, I was maybe 12 or 13. Gotta give credit at least they were trying to address serious issues & get the message across. What are most of the TV shows doing now. So & so sleeps w/ so & so...

  • i knew it. area code 914...damn people from yonkers.

    kidding

  • This was the first episode with the "new" Maggie, in order to jack the ratings. That must have been awkward to walk into that role with this being the first act.

  • uh why is he talking with his eyes closed

  • Fuck i didn't know different strokes was anything like this! it's fucking scary

  • I was saying to my friend today that I think more 5-8 yr old shows would feature these topics in a safe way. Not sure if it would scare them, but kidnapping and molestation are scary topics. Using a mother who lost her son as the receiver of the missing child, gives the kidnapper some credit for not being so creepy. I would rather my 5 yr old watch this than family guy cartoon.

  • Love Pearl- but Miss Mrs. G

  • I prefer Adaley

  • ok i am sorry but people just dont act like that when someone is kidnapped

  • true... i would be yelling, screaming, crying.....breaking down all the time if this happened to my children.

  • Irony of all this: that other mom now has a dead son, a husband in jail, and since she has no job (because she was homeschooling Sam for a while) she now has no sorce of income.

She might kill herself and then her son would become a orphan and get adopted by another family.

  • To the Drummond home for another fun filled season of Diffrent Strokes!

  • aww schuks. thats a horrible ending.

  • The actor that plays the father Mr. Brown, appeared on the 2nd episode of CSI back in 2000.

  • dude she can home school her real son.....at least she'll get some income :-D

  • My theory is that the husband went to a institution for kidnapping Sam because he was not in a fit state of mind. He himself was grieving over his son's death, he watched his wife suffer and became insane. I find it hard to believe a father would threaten Sam like that in a sane mind without thinking of what if someone did something like this to my son. After the kidnapping he probably got help for his grief and years later apologized to Sam for what he did.

  • @KiplingCI The new orphan would probably get adopted by Mr D. too. That fool's adopting everybody up in here!

  • Because, he wasn't patient enough to go thought adoption, he kidnapped a kid from a store, got trough in jail, and probably put his wife into a deeper depression.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if she divorced him.

  • She was in deeper depression she probably forgot his name or even going into a catatonic state and her other son will probably end up in foster care, serves the husband right for putting his family through this.

  • me either because why would she want a husband who is a kidnapper

  • Well now in prison, the kidnapper's gunna be passed around like a joint and the wife probably went into drug addiction

  • @CourtneyheartsDuncan Well Spoken. In other words the father made matters worse for his own family by kidnapping a child creating more suffering for the family.

  • This Special One-Hour Episode of Diff'rent Strokes On ABC Thought Me & My Brother & Sister A Big Lesson..

  • sweet my area code is 1914

  • I am glad that there are more ways to track down kidnapped children and the kidnappers like The Amber Alert and kids never talk to strangers and if you feel any danger run and tell someone

  • the maid just doesnt get it

  • this is what happens when you have no care for other peoples chips

  • omg i'm in tears!! I'm so glad sam made it back. =']

  • Maggie is the worst actress I have ever seen.

When Sam enters the room, and the room explodes, she needs to be called one room away, and then she asks what's up? LOLOLOLOL

  • worst actress...... god i could do 3 times better the job. and im a guy.

  • all in a few days work;)

  • I wish they would have shown what happened to the kidnapper family after the fact... Like the bi bearded bastard getting balled in the joint

  • Maggie should have put some bullets in her brain... Her crying is really pissing me off!

  • how insensitive can you be? She lost a CHILD most don't recover from that.

  • Yeah, some people end up on anti-depressants and consider suicide(which isn't common) something to ease the pain instead of moving on.

  • Even though Mr. Drummond has far more resources than most people during this time, I always liked how they presented this character that emphasized his loving father attributes instead of how rich he was.... am I alone in thinking this?

  • sadly its ppl that u know that do this and parental kidnapping not so much strangers, same w other stranger danger stuff. check out something weird causious twins LMAO perves r EVERYWHERE!

  • that was a good episode thanks for posting..I guess it shows that a parent will do anything to replace a child even if it includes kidnapping one

  • STRANGER DANGER!! SAM!!

  • "must be a pretty big box!" hahahaha

  • at least this episode taught people a lesson even though it took two episodes to do that.

  • yeah it sure can teach people a lesson never go anywhere with strangers.

  • Area Code 914: Back in the 80's it was probably Orange County considering they White Trash Folk..

  • This was crazy...steal a kid to replace one that died..they could have adopted one....I would raise hell if I got my hands on that crazy creep.

  • "I can't believe it's YOOOUUU!"

Arnold should have replied "I can't believe it's not butter!"

  • ahahahahahahhahahaha lol

  • @BabyFace316

OMG, do you have any idea how close I was into spitting beer all over my laptop when I read that?? LOL!!!

  • the ending makes me tear up

  • I love this episode!Thankls for uploading I've been wanting tosee again for awhile!

  • whoever posted this is the man

  • At :02, it looks like Tim Allen from Home Improvement!

  • They could have adopted a child. Kidnapping is bad. Why didn't they just become foster parents to a child in an orphanage.

  • Exactly. How would he feel if he was kidnapped wouldn't he miss his family terribly? Well he should think about how Sam is feeling.

  • Mrs Brown and the son were actualy very nice to Sam.

I guess Donald wanted to fill that void of his son's death so much that he resorted to kidnapping someone else's son.

  • @happy7117

Yeah, I kinda felt bad for Bobby and his mom...can't say I say the same for Donald "Bats in the Belfry" Brown!

  • sam could have called while Mr brown was sleeping.

  • I haven't seen much of the later episodes. Are Maggie and Mr. D married? Why does Sam call Philip, Mr. D?

  • True but because Sam still kept his last name McKinney and Mr. D didn't adopt him officially. Sam still calls his biological father, dad.

  • L0L AT 2:05

  • Mr. Brown should know that kidnapping a person is wrong, dead wrong!

  • With that crazy psychotic b*tch for a mother, Sam might have been better off with the other family.

  • She's not psychotic, you insensitive idiot. If I were a mother, I would react the same way that Maggie does when Sam goes missing. Where's your heart?

  • I love happy endings

  • So do I since Sam returns home with Drummonds and Jacksons safe and okay!

  • Why didn't Sam just send Mr. Drummond a text message? The kidnapper would never have suspected that.

  • Maybe an e-mail

  • They didn't have cell phones with that kind technology back then. What planet are you from?

  • wow. you cant be serious

  • its the 80's the good old days

  • It's good that they show special episodes like this,so people know what to do in these situations

  • Mr. D's the man!

  • woot i knew dad would come through!!

  • Thanks ever so much for posting this. Great stuff!!

    :-)
