"Is JavaScript fast enough to do this?" That depends on the computer's specs. But dear lord, I can't wait till canvas and audio are ready in all browsers. I wonder if they addressed the ability to play audio across multiple pages (so it doesn't reset per page load).

@StoverTV it's probably easier for sites to not do page load and use ajax instead. In that way you don't even need HTML to enable this.

@webhat, it depends on the situation. The reason Ajax hasn't replace page loads today is because it effectively prevents the sharing of links and SEO.
