My heat shield vibrates when it gets to around 4000 rpm, does anyone else have the same problem?

Yeah same here! look under the car you will see after the manifold the heatshield has probably snapped where it bolts on.

exactly right, I spot welded it where the bolts had snapped and now it's vibration-free!

Nope it's not.

It's the same zetec engine only the displacement is downsized to 1.8l.
