It seems the world kept a blind eye away from Myanmar. The junta generals were backed financially, militarily, and politically by Beijing and Beijing are using diplomatic means to make sure the world ignores what is currently happening in Myanmar.

Myanmar was 1 of bravest nations in the world that mankind ever witness. During their history, they never surrendered to any foreign power though their enemies were many times stronger than they were. They kept fighting until the day their enemies were exhausted and had to get away. I really don't understand why such brave people could lose to a very violent government. Keep fighting, search for a very fine leader and follow him to fight but don't forget to keep him hidden or you will lose him.
The world doesn't know. Not even 1% of the world's population know about this. In fact i asked the students in my english class if anyone know the country call Burma. 2 people raised their hand. One of them was a teacher.
Last there where demonstration in thailand 68 people dided.
In this demonstration only 19 where killed. This is not more brutal than the western country. But thr west blame the govermnet in Burma all time. They never critic Thailand when 68 were killed or communist Vietnam.

I came to know this country Myanmar when I decided to sponsor one seminary student. It's just $20 per month, it's really nothing to me living in North America but it pays her tuition and some lunch. Last week she sent me a thankcard and I was really moved by her humble attitude.
I pray for this country to become fully democratic country.
It's just sad, and I have nothing to complain about in my situation whenever I think of her and people in Myanmar....
I wish Korean people will be humble like her to Japan who helped them.

The problem lies with China. China holds a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and will always veto any Security Council resolution against the Burmese government. China does the same for Iran, it protects countries that it [China] has business with by exercising their veto power. The West will never take a unilateral stance against Burma because it really does not need Burma.

Burma (Myanmar) was a crown British Colony. It did well for nearly 200 years and Rangoon was a thriving city. They decided to be a republic and declare complete independence from the UK. You get what you deserve. I would only help them if they decided to be a Dominion again

The British soon found out they could no longer hold Myanmar so they had to let go unlike some other countries which were in British country for another 50 years. Now your HISTORY dude!

In NZ people have had equal rights for ages, so theres not much aggro between races. I asked a Maori who was nearly 50 if he had ever encountered racism a few months ago and he said no. I came to know this country Myanmar when I decided to sponsor one seminary student. It's just $20 per month, it's really nothing to me living in North America but it pays her tuition and some lunch. Last week she sent me a thankcard and I was really moved by her humble attitude.
I pray for this country to become fully democratic country.
It's just sad, and I have nothing to complain about in my situation whenever I think of her and people in Myanmar....

The problem lies with China. China holds a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and will always veto any Security Council resolution against the Burmese government. China does the same for Iran, it protects countries that it [China] has business with by exercising their veto power. The West will never take a unilateral stance against Burma because it really does not need Burma.

Burma (Myanmar) was a crown British Colony. It did well for nearly 200 years and Rangoon was a thriving city. They decided to be a republic and declare complete independence from the UK. You get what you deserve. I would only help them if they decided to be a Dominion again

not 200 years.... From 1885 to 1940s. And British went away from Myanmar for a lot of reasons, economically and politically. The British soon found out they could no longer hold Myanmar so they had to let go unlike some other countries which were in British country for another 50 years. Now your HISTORY dude!

In NZ people have had equal rights for ages, so theres not much aggro between races. I asked a Maori who was nearly 50 if he had ever encountered racism a few months ago and he said no.
