got a 2002 honda hornet restricted. 1st and 2nd gear will redline, i have just squeezed 60mph in 1st gear, then 80mph in 2nd gear, then the other gears run out of the grunt but had 100mph with my head down flat out. the accerlation 0.60 seems to be very quick. will do 60mph at 5RPM in 6th so crusing very comftable !
that bike is restricted in the vid. Imagine never opening the throttle more than 20% thats how much the 33bhp hornet is restricted. top speed about 85mph on the flat. Once the 2yr period was up we swapped it all back to full power spec(new inlet rubbers for each carb different cdi and new key all supplied by honda at the time of purchase) And it was a much better bike after that
I'll hopefully be passing my bike test in a few months and i'm desperately looking for a good next bike. Does the hornet feel underpowered at 33bhp, obviously it's normally knocking out about 100. Does acceleration suffer atall?
should max out at around 85-90 mph if restricted with the full honda kit..different intake rubbers and different cdi...this one goes bloody well now its been de restricted!!
i got a restricted one as my first bike and she feels AMAZING!!!! i think the engine is a tweaked cbr600 (rr or f i cant remember) so it does have the pedigree!
I havent ridden it but 90mph on an a-road and under ideal situations about the ton on a duel carrage way. it's fitted with the honda restriction for the a2 licence and is different cdi and intake restrictors...with full power the hornets fly like hell for a naked 600 bike and can be seen coming regular 4-5th place on the track against cbr600's and R6's and gsxr 600's so the motor is a flyer!!
Top speed at 33bhp??

when my hornet was restricted i could just about squeeze 100mph out of it, it just had 4 washers in the carb inlets that restricted the airflow in

How did you restrict it? Through the dealer?
zup957 4 years ago
It was bought restricted. The dealer also supplied the full power inlet rubbers and CDI with key.
rgv250wales 4 years ago
Ah, so you bought it new and the dealer restricted it?
