as an ethnomusicologist, I have to look at evidences and go into a bit of detail. the only music that is close to twubadu is changui in Cuba. but we know that Changui came from colonial or pre-colonial Ayiti...humm, Changui is close to mento, calipso, and bachata...listen there will not b any musical genre coming out of the caribbean that u cannot link to spanish or french Ayiti, and from ayiti back to africa...incidentally, when i speak of ayiti, i am speaking of the island of AYITI!

@poutioune Objecter que le troubadour ne nous est pas venu de Cuba parce que cela supposerait que tous le musiciens "troubadours" aient fait le voyage en sens inverse (vers Haïti) est une abérration.

En Haïti, nos musiciens jouent bien le Zouk mais tous le musiciens Zouk ne sont pas venus s'y établir pour autant. Naguère, les Martiniquais jouaient bien notre Compas Direct, sans une trop forte présence haïtienne dans leur île.

twoubadou IS NOT from cuba. Cubans like a lot of percussions in their music: bongos, more than one congas,bells. also bass lines too laid back. Cuba conserved music as far back as late 1700s. if twoubadou was brought back from cuba, then all twoubadou musicians must have moved to Haiti; Cubans or Haitian-Cubans don't play twoubadou in Cuba. 1 more info, in cuba the metal tongues on the marinbula is called - languettes:-) luv n peace
