@Anavyia Just came back from the New Years Eve Gala at the Barbican in London, London Symphony orchestra... Ana James sang the most stunningly beautiful rendition of Vilja in English that I have ever heard. Almost brought a tear to the eye.
This really sweet singing should be a good rebuttal to those who like saying that German is a harsh language. Kriztina, the sweet lady, I wish all the good things in your life. Thanks for sharing.
@MrApallons you have rigtht. you must to hear these songs from Lehar Ferenc or KAlman Imre in hungarian laguage. They was Hungarian komponists. in Hungarian is much more fire and emotions.
Hi, Bash Brannigan, what are you doing in America again? I thought you were gone forever to the taliban army. I see you are now prosecuting nazis instead of american troopers. How comes that? Tell the world how is doing osama, as you have been one of his best advisors and know about his health
@PANABURDACCS Beauty is in the ear of the listener.I like Germanand I love Lieder and it can be sung softly. The Southern German accent or Austrian is less harsh than that of the North. French I love too but it can sound nasal if one is not careful. English is not throaty like German can be nor nasal like French and I think it is a wonderfullanguage for song. Of course am 1/4 English and prejudiced. Check out Welsh maybe Kafhleen Jenkins or Aled Jones in Welsh (3/4).
@PANABURDACCS: Wow! Thank you! I never heard that before about my native tongue. Many others say that it's hard and acerb... But especially French has a wonderful soft and elegant sound, too.
Vilja, O Vilja, was tust Du mir an?
Vilja, O Vilja, was tust Du mir an? Bang fleht ein liebkranker Mann!
Dear Krizstina. What a lovely performance. Have you ever considered recording yourself with an orchestral version rather than simply piano accompaniment, though? I love the sound of such a beautiful voice witha full orchestra. Maybe you could use Rieu's instrumental version for accompaniment? Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful! I enjoyed your expression in your singing of Vilja. Although I play this piece ocassionally on my violin because of its beauty, I think your human voice expression is better than what I can express on my violin.
Beautiful voice. I love this song, anyone know where I can find a recording here on youtube of this song for orchestra only? or piano only? I love it with voice better though.
Your singing is lovely, and you are a fine example of Magyar beauty. Do you ever perform in California? I hope to see you at the San Francisco Opera House one day.
Brava! Magnifiscent top b at the end!! Very nice performance and lovely to watch, you obviously can't compare a studio performance to a real one when it comes to mimics etc. it's always easier when you ahve people around you.
And talking about 'geltende Maßstäbe', my favourite would be Lucia Popp. I just happen to dislike Schwarzkopf..
Better than Sills, Battle, Schwarzkopf, and others! BRAVA!! BRAVA!!! and so beautiful visually too! But I WISH I'd heard the really high notes. Shoot, Madame Zelora is older than dirt and stopped doing voice exercises in 1994 and can STILL SING THEM!
>Better than Sills, Battle, Schwarzkopf, and others! BRAVA!! BRAVA!!!
The great thing about YouTube is introduction to singers from all over the world, vocalists you would never hear from any other source. Lovely voice and a delightful presence. Thank you for this video.

Even a DVD? That would be great.

That depends entirely on the song and the singer!
There are truly wonderful singers and songs in French and English, and some bloody awful ones in German.

This is a fascinating performance. This lady isn't a merry widow--She is a vilja, not only an enchanting singer, but herself devastatingly beautiful.

@Kenchely You are absolutely right - additionally she is performing in German authentically - she is Vilja herself indeed.
