Uhm learn how to read people. They fell out of a palm tree. The Pythons can slither up trees. It looks young and inexperienced probably thought a juicy bat taking a nap looked good. And the bat was like, fu biatch i aint noones meal today! Puts up a worthy fight. It's a fruit eating bat so it probably was self defense. I would have checked the bat for injuries afterwards. Some morphological charterers evolve at faster rates than others, so you can talk about a very basal body plan of the snake, that has been around for ages, but that doesn't mean snakes haven't evolved and adapted in all that time! They have in lots of ways. True, mammals descend from reptiles, but every grouping above species level is arbitrary and defined by humans.
