well i wouldnt the 965 thats just a waste im getting the 920 because i cant stand to not have the best so im getting an i7 and a 5850 soon so i will own crysis right now i have a temporary fix till i get my uber parts in so right now i have a athlon X2 2bs of ram and a 4850 crammed into my old dell dimmensions 3000 and let me tell you those dells suck!

So, about your new pc man, it will be great for sure, but, can i give you some tips?

first: get a 250 gts instead of the 9800gt

the 9800gt is a good gpu, but the 250gts a.k.a. 9800gtx+,it is a lot better (for higher resolutions)

And your Core i7 CPU runs only with DDR3 ram, so, you won´t be able to use ddr2 and you´re gonna need at leats 3gb, cause i7 runs on triple-channel ram

my 4850 was for sure, the best investment i´ve ever done on my PC

it was cheap, has great performance, overclocks very well and runs every game (despite from Crysis and GTA IV of course) maxed out. never had any problems with it :)

the 9800gtx+ is the OCed version of the 9800gtx

If you get and OCed 4850 (like Toxic for example), it beats the 9800gtx+ :)

Dont you get fed up with the AI being awefull and constandly haresing you on roads.

I also hate the "get mission, drive a milion miles (shoot badguys), get new mission, drive a milion miles (shoot badguys etc" idea of this game.

Yeh... Driving for miles get rly boring after a while...

The missions are always the same, but about the graphics, for me, they are simply amazing... specially cause they runs smooth on "older" systems...

But let´s not forget... It´s a sandbox game, so, you don´t need to do all the missions

i spend more time blowing things up than actually doing the missions... :P

E8400, HD4850 TOXIC (oc'ed one, from sapphire), 2x2go corsair 800mhz, 500go maxtor 7200rpm 32mo, antec 300 + red fans.

Farcry 2 is the only game that I can't run in 1680x1050, and I don't give a fck because I think that this game is borring. 20km to kill a man, boum boum, diamonds, and it's over.

I had so much fun on dead space & fallout 3 :)

there´s 2 of them

I had no problems with my old drivers before the hotfix but i got some extra fps after it :)

this video was recorded WITHOUT the hotfix, and even with that i had great fps... :)

the 8.11 Catalyst drivers are out already, maybe it can get you some extra fps...

Fraps cuts your fps by half... i just used it in this video to show the FPS.

Not as expensive as the 4870x2 but cheaper than the gtx 280...

I love the fact that Nvidia thought they could charge as much as did for the GTX280's and 260's and not think that ATI may just do what they have threatened to do since the 2900 came out and actually build a card that could easily compete and beat them on Price to Power. Oh well, silly Nvidia, pricing themselves out of the market. lol

the 4850x3 will be good as it has two gpu cores but i suggest two powercolor 4850 pcs extreme's as there a bit faster

i took the gpu cooler off and aplied Artic Silver 5 on the GPU.

Now i have to wait 150+hours till the thermal paste to settle but my temps droped already :)

Nah, the 4850x2's or I believe any X2's don't tie themselves to any specific multiple GPU motherboard as you can put them in a mobo without another pci slot... so you essentially get SLI or Crossfire in one card. Pretty neat.

Hopefully I will be getting an X38 or X48 motherboard and perhaps a new processor. Intel X58 motherboard are out already, in prep for the new i7 native quad core processors that are coming out. Expensive stuff though. :o

I didn´t knew about that command when i recorded this video, but when i compared the "showfps 1" to fraps fps, normally, fraps show 1 or 2 fps less deppending on the scene...

when we record with fraps, the fps goes off the screen and fraps drops A LOT the performance aswell...

When the 4850 first came out, the 9800s costed a lot more

Nvidia had to cut their prices a lot to match the 4850...

Right now, you can find 4850s for 170 bucks (that was the most expensive i´ve seen on newegg) while the 9800 costs 180+

the 9800gt can even stand agains the new 4830 (yes it´s 4830), so, you can´t compare it to the 4850. Anyway

as i told

both are good cards, so, you choose the one that most please you :)

for me, the 4850 was the best solution price/performance...

there are parts that have lots of things and it demmands a lot of your gpu and there are parts that are "lighter"... Sometimes i get over 100 fps deppends on wich parte of the map i am... Whide open savana spaces have higher fps

If it set to V.High, use it

there´s no big difference from U.High to V.High in my opinion...

Rofl, bullshit.. You need at max, 2gb ram for this, and 667mhz is fine, but you need a really good CPU and a graphics card.. Mobo doesnt really matter thath much, just as long as it has the stuff it needs.. If you run this game in 1600x1200 at ultra high with 4x AA on a radeon 4850, you WONT have more than MAX 24 FPS in a heavily crowded area.. trust me, i am theee expert when it comes to hardware.

I had this card with an PCI-e 1.0 port on my old M2N4-SLI motherboard

I had an average 25fps in crysis with V.High settings

After i changed my motherboard, my average fps gone up to 33fps...

There is a difference and it´s not small...

Anyway...

hey i have an 4000+x2 and 2gb ram ati crosfire edtion of OCZ 800mhz and 667mhz 1.5gb twinmos and a ASUS M2N-e and a 2900gt ati but i im gone buy a 4850 but my power supply is 450watt sudd i also buy a new power supply for 65euro i have 600watts and shud i also upgrade the prossor

but this monhts i wil buy the 4850 and maybe the power supply then next monts maybe new prosessor and mobo if nessacry ?

I think you should go for the graphics card and the motherboard first

a 450watts PSU can hold your system with no problem

ATI recommends a 450w PSU for the 4850, so, you won´t have no problem with that PSU if it´s from a decente brand... If it is a "generic" PSU, you should change it at the momment you buy the 4850 or it will burn down :P

Oh

And you should swap that ddr2 667 chip for 3+ 1gb ddr2 800 chips at least

ddr667 is already too slow for games

inetol I have this same CPU but O/C to 3.4 Ghz

mobo P31 Gigabyte, 2GB kingston dual channel RAM, and Gigabyte's HD4850 and on very high,no AA got max 45 FPS. How could you got 70 FPS man?! I am using XP and I thought that Far Cry 2 will work faster on it:P Maybe it depends bettwen dx9 and dx10...? I have special hotfix catalyst 8.10 (special 'edition' for Far Cry 2 )

I hope it rly boost the performance SO about your PC I think your amount of ram is holding you back... Another problem is your motherboard It´s kidna old it has a P31 chipset and no PCI-e 2.0 port... These both factors holds your pc performance down... P31 chipset don´t have intel FMA... You should change your mobo and get 2+gb ram :) Hope i could help man Cheers

hmm .. i installed this game on xp with a ati 4850 , 5600 X2 and 2gb of ram and im like lagging like crazy .. im on all ultra high settings 2xAA @ 1280x1024 .. its not playable .. my 4850 should be able to handle it easy tho

btw i think its your ram thats pulling it off .. i overclocked my cpu to 3Ghz from 2.8 and my ram from like 533 to 580 and got a fairly big boost in fps

the 4850 stands very well with 2xAA and i can set it to 4x but it´s not necessary

it all deppends on what res you´re playing...

I think it´s your RAM that´s holding her back it´s very hard to be the PSU that´s holding your card i have 4gb ddr2 800mhz ram that gives me a performance boost... Another thing that´s holding your card is your PCI-E port it is a PCI-E 1.0 but the HD4850 needs a PCI-E 2.0 to run at full speed... You need a new mobo and 4gb ddr2 800+mhz that should give you some exta fps but that´s my opinion... anyways i hope i could help man cheers

the PSU will bottleneck your whole system, but it depends on what other hardware you have, if you have 5 HDD and 6 Blu-Ray drives, then the bottleneck will be bigger than when you have 1 HDD and 1 DVD drive, so it may your mobo (and mine) may not be bottlenecked at all... if you have a €250 300 Watt PSU it will run the game, the Watt is not teh only thing that counts, so lol PSU might be or might not be.

my entire system uses something around 240 to 250w and the psu generates (with her 80% efficiency. 440w), so, it´s more than enough to handle my system :)

It´s kinda hard a gamer have 5hds and more than 2 optical drivers...

a good 550 PSU is enough for a 4850... :)

but it was good to remind some ppl about the PSU, i rly forgot to tell about that

i love HD4850 so cheap such performance, even runs on 400Watts while it clearly states it need 450 MINIMUM, it will run slower i guess but 30-50 aint bad, specially if it's from the makers of crysis and its even made after crysis was made

Yeh! The HD4850 is the best graphics card i´ve ever had It´s simply amazing It´s cheap, has a great performance, requires low power (I have a 550W PSU) Well... it´s simply perfect :D About FarCry 2, it´s not made by Crysis´s team It was another team who develeped it Crysis is from Crytek, FarCry, the first one were made by Crytek too but FarCry 2 was made by another team that´s not from Crytek and in my opinion, it kicks crysis´s ass :P It´s awesome thx for the comment mate Cheers! :D

oh yeah i now i remember it's not crytek (my mistake) thats probably why it runs better than crysis, crysis in maybe a lil better graphics wise (and alot physics wise) but this game seems ok optimized. not great though

I kinda miss blowing cars with granades and making they fly with the explosion altho i already got killed from a truck that exploded with a rocket and landed on my head :P

can i ask 1 thing?? does your ame run 50 at all times? becaus when i run all high i will get frame drops to like 8 or 2 frames a second while driving a car, if i play it on 60 frames average on medium, the game looks COD4-like and has superb gameplay though
