"All night long they were happy and GAY!!" ... lol! Haven't heard this song in like ... 60 years! Had almost given up hope of ever finding it ... it's a keeper, that's for sure!
this song popped into my head when i saw the words yaba dabba somewhere...im 18 and think that i heard it b4... it had been driving me crazy ....where the fuck have i heard this b4.. somewhere in my youth but where.

This is a 1959 re-recording of the song Debbie (and Carleton Carpenter) indeed made famous in the 1950 MGM musical "Two Weeks With Love". This arrangement is more in line with the rock and roll crowd Debbie and her label were trying to attract.
It seems the only thing you and I have in common is a blood type. THANK GOODNESS!!!! Hateful comments and attitudes like yours are exactly why I will redouble my efforts to embrace diversity and love ALL people...just to make up for you.
I agree: fuck the president. No one should force their political beliefs on your or me: but that's what all laws are. He's just a corporate stooge. But, why the hell should one be proud of one's skin color or nationalism? Those are silly arbitrary reasons. Be proud of what YOU accomplish or fight to do.
If your narrow minded, hateful ignorance weren't so sad I'd laugh at your reply. j97hou6 is right about at least one thing...skin color and nationalism makes you about as special as having the only blue house on the block, for example. Those things only define what you are not who. Stupid, ugly comments like those you've written are what define who you are. From where I'm standing I'd have to say you hae plenty of room for improvement.
You're an idiot. Racist and inappropriate. Respect our president and his family. Grow up . Your ignorance is showing. And Barack is spelled with a singular "r". Perhaps you should do us all a favor and move - to another country.
My god, I still remember the words!!!!!! It was always so mesmirizing to watch the records spin around when you were a kid, wasn't it? My mom used to have an automatic record changing player (forrunner to today's multi- disc chaners?) and I would be so facinated when the mechanism would engage and the records would drop one by one onto the turntable. I always wondered how so many of them could stay at the top of that little prong in the middle!! It also had an attatchment for multiple 45s!!
I loved the film that Debbie Reynolds sung this in which was called Two weeks with Love and also starred Jane Powell and Richardo Montablan. I watched it with my late moher and it always brings back memories. Trying to find it on dvd with no luck
My mother used to sing this to me when I was little, and now she tells me she's singing it to my baby niece, who apparently loves it as much as I did. Out of curiosity, I went a' Googlin' and found it here. Thank you!
Does the version of Debbie singing this song with Carlton Carpenter exist on YouTube? I adore that version- done as it was originally intended when it was written- as a parlor song.... they do it wonderfully. Patrick
I love your concept of just videoing the record player! When I was little my mom played albums on a record changer, and I was sit and watch the records the whole time they were playing.
I like Tammy, she sings that so beautifully, its a shame that its impossible to come across a CD of hers, I'm glad we have youtube where people can share, because record companies have forgotten what good music is
I've always loved this song. To be honest, the first time I heard it was when Jerry Lewis sang a little of it on the Colgate Comedy Hour. I've never heard Ms.Reynold's solo version. I love it, really big band and kind of jazzy. Thanks for the post!
My children looked at this and said "What's that wheel?" We realized that they had no concept of what a record player is. Sigh, I'm only 35! They loved the song though!
haha, thats funny, my cousins thought they were fizbeys, I corrected them on that lol, I love records, I have a stereo that sounds amazing that I just got, I sware if you have a decent system, they sound better than cd's
Nice!!!! Sounds like there's a little Yackety SAX in Debbies version. I've heard that vynle record lovers say there' more warmth in the old records than in cd's, and that's a big reason there's still a niche record album market...

I hate this version. It's just too bubble-gum doo-wop crap. The powers that be should have left it alone.
