The music group in this movie re-confirms my suspicions that that genre of music existed out of shear goofiness and stupidity; if you had a stupid voice, could write retarded lyrics, and could play mediocre guitar, you had talent back then. I guess.

@KingOfUm You really can't judge musical styles out of historical context. Some of the surf music was pretty good, innovative actually (Dick Dale, the Ventures, early Beach Boys). The band in this film is a grade z version, pretty much on a scale with the rest of this dumb movie.

@KingOfUm No offense, you're 22 years old, that's where the "historical context" comes in. Music is like any artform, it evolves through time. Surf music was a bridge from even "goofier" (by modern standards) stuff like doowop to rock and roll. You have to have some experience to discern the good from the bad, otherwise it all sounds the same.

Of course, you don't have to like it, but your knowledge factor of the genre is nil.
