@rictownsend, all is fine at whatever stage you decide to start. If you never start that is fine too. Choose your teacher wisely though. And as my yoga teacher used to say . . . when it hurts, smile :-)
...been doing Ashtanga for almost a year. Follow David and Doug. With regular practice consistent progress is certain. I'd bet that yes, that's all he's doing to get the body he has. have seen 'remarkable' changes in my body the time I've practiced Ashtanga.
The track is: Jesse Kalu with his One in Spirit CD. But David edited the track. On the Jesse Kaly CD you only hear the flutes, which is really beautiful as well.
This man proves that something like IMPOSSIBLE is created in our heads only! if you swap years and years of watching tele to years and years of practising yoga every evening- what significant diference would it make? hard to belive but thats up to us to JUST change the daily habits-as Simple as that! :) Enjoy your yoga, yoggis!!
I thought about starting doing Yoga tomorrow, but then I changed my mind and thought "why should I? And it is expensive." Then I saw this video. Im going tomorrow to buy a month-card.
@Combat242 I hope that you are just joking. Yoga and all of the esoterical, oriental-style exercises are not for catholic believers. Yoga has hidden diabolic, satanic origins. If you practice it you are in a serious danger of demonic penetration or even possession. It is not a superstition. The spiritual methods and principles of yoga are not compatible with the catholic faith. Ask your priest or your confessor.
@Flowergarden1987 Wow, that's a whole load of stupid right there. Your ignorance is just so sad. Care to expand on the "methods and principles of yoga" with which you must be so familiar? What grave consequences will occur if we do a few sun salutations?
I'm not religious, but I enjoy the energy flow in the body from doing such a wonderful exercise. It's not a religious doctrine, it's just yoga for crying out loud. Why are you here anyway? Run out of vulnerable children to molest?
@Flowergarden1987 you must be somehow dumb or very crazy. first, there is no god and no devil. there is just energy allover the world and universe. listen to einstein! *g* ... second, yoga has in no way any sense of worshipping anything. it is just a way of life towards opening your body and mental state to peace, harmony and wisdom. getting enlightened is the goal.
Religion is not the best topic on comment boxes. I have read the Bible cover to cover. I am sure that taking care of your body is not diabolic. The Catholic church however, is full of erroneous teachings and has very little to do with Jesus' own teachings.
@Flowergarden1987 My friend, you are utterly, sorely lost, to be disseminating such ridiculous views. "Hidden diabolic satanic origins?" Do you really buy into that - for REAL? We are talking about wisdom from the East, here. Wisdom that is so deep that even Jesus Christ is known to have spent time in India, learning from those who are steeped in such wisdom. Having said that, this is NOT something the Catholic Church would like to be common knowledge. Wake up, is my urge to you........
David is a real inspiration. If I can practice every day and do one 20th of what he does it would be a huge benefit. Being 62 years of age I will never be as accomplished as he, but I can do the sun salutations and a few of the more advanced moves. As I practice I keep in mind the yoga motto; "There is no such thing as wasted effort!"
The track is: Jesse Kalu with his One in Spirit CD. But David edited the track. On the Jesse Kaly CD you only hear the flutes, which is really beautiful as well.
Yeah, that's the archetypal body shape for someone who practises ashtanga yoga every day. Note, that's just for full ashtanga, not all yoga. Big emphasis on core and upper body strength, hence the triangular body shape.
dear friend, with all respect for your motivation. If you want to reach this 'level' than stop reaching cause that's the all wrong approache of yoga. Dont think in the western way of levels and effort (must reach...).. just do your yoga and the rest will follow..in the and the journey is what counts not the goals..
Couldn't agree more, the goal of yoga is not flexibility, it is a peaceful mind. The more one "tries", the more one thinks about what one is doing on an ego level and the less peaceful the mind. Also, longer-term flexibility is much better obtained by development at one's own realistic pace, the more you push, the slower you'll progress (long-term). In addition to David Swenson, who is my favourite teacher, David Williams is great, he has it all wrapped up for me in his attitude and outlook.
the goal of yoga is the realization of self and the cessation of suffering. Most western yoga is simply for fitness...keep in mind the true goal even if you can only do one or two asanas perfectly it is the state of Being that truly counts!
