Where have I been... running with blisters across the unforgiving Sahara... chasing Antarctic volcanoes for research purposes... or otherwise, somehow, someway, clandestinely squandering my brief time on this earth? My insouciance, here, is clearly breath-taking. And at least one fan will surely castigate me for such neglect.
This could not sound any better if the late Buddy Holly had written this especially for Nanci to sing and record. Thank you for uploading this pretty tune. I found it on Amazon also.
I love her voice, musicality and spirit. May I also recommend an obscure singer from Alberta, Jane Hawley. Fans of Nanci should dig Jane's style as well. Buddy Holly LIVES, Cheers
Just heard this for the first time. It's an absolutely lovely effort ... and that comes from a very big Holly fan. Greetings to one and all, from Big Hugh of Mundlimup in wonderful Western Australia.
That gentle melody of Buddy Holly lets us have a look into the illusive world of those just fallen in love. But the song catches excellent also the spirit of the time: the innocence and naiveté of the fifties. The warm performance of Nanci Griffith fits perfect to that song.
I've been a big fan of Nanci for many years now. She is truly one of the most talented songwriters and vocalists of our time. A most remarkable performer whether she's singing her own songs or soulfully interpreting those of others.
I have always wished that more people knew about her. It's great to see that she enjoys such a loyal following here in the YouTube community.

"Dust Bowl Symphony" is a 1999 release?

Holly's tenderness informs each juicy note.
All the glory is yours, sweet Buddy.

I wish Buddy could have heard what a stunning interpretation Nanci Griffith achieved with what was admittedly an unremarkable (for him) original.
