  • Maybe start off with a 410 then work up to a 12 or 16 gauge, I personally believe shotguns are the best for home defense a they don't go thru walls easily and they spread. But I guess to each their own.

  • @Nationofhonor Agreed. As some shotguns may be too heavy, or too much recoil for some persons. If self-defense is a major issue, in Amurrica, one can pay a 200 dollar tax stamp to go to a 12" shotgun barrel, which is wider spread and is better for home usage, where one won't be further than 5 meters.

  • @Nationofhonor Plus, one can get non-lethal rounds too

  • Mossberg 500 or 535 is where it's at

  • she should of went with a 20 gauge.

  • A pistol's only purpose is to fight your way to your rifle! :D

  • you would think she would have chose the revolver....she fucked shit up with that gun to... enough to be effective, she hit more with the ar but, i mean she landed 3 shots to the chest, with the revolver thats pretty damn effective, i just feel like AR is overkill unless you know there's more than 1 person.........or......zombies.

  • You know, .... she has a nice little butt!

  • Bad test - it basically asks whether someone who is unwilling to train or practice with their weapon will be effective at shooting it when its right out of the box. The answer is likely that they will never be effective.

An AR is an exceptionally bad choice for home defense if, for no other reason, than because of the over penetration issue. A .223 or a 7.62 will go through people when fired at home defense distance.

Why not a carbine in pistol carts (e.g. Car 15/Cx4 Storm)?

  • @SunSunSuperFun I get that you didn't recommend the CX4 because it wasn't out, but the Car 15 was. You have less recoil than an AR, so you'll presumably have more accuracy, and you don't have over penetration issues.

  • @SunSunSuperFun

You might want to brush up on your knowledge of 5.56/.223 ballistics in the interior of homes. An AR is a GOOD choice, assuming one is capable of using it properly. This notion of "over-penetration" is a myth that isn't supported by evidence. Too many people apply "gut feeling" and intuition to the realm of physics; however, physics are often counter-intuitive.

  • freaks like you are the reason i chose to stay in my midwestern town and take over the family owned and operated business instead of moving to a big city after college. thank god i made the choice i did. this country is going to hell...

  • @88warwolf that is of course provided you can afford a mirror...and it doesnt just shatter into a million pieces upon seeing your face

  • its the job of a woman to cook, clean, fuck, and raise children. its the mans job to do the protecting. funny looking kitchen by the way.

its like this.....handguns are for carrying everyday for protection out and about. they are also secondary weapons for SHTF. shotguns are for home and property defense. rifles are for if the government trys to take them away.

  • @88warwolf exactly why you will die alone. You go be sexist by yourself while me and my girls go to the range and have an awesome time with a .357 magnum

  • @A7Guitar i caught myself a youngin, well under 18 and im training her right.

  • @88warwolf dude wtf? caught? I hope u mean u have a daughter you are teaching how to hold a gun properly. Anything else is just effin creepy

  • @A7Guitar future wife in training. :)

  • @88warwolf dude wtf? and she is under 18? you are one sick pedo bastard. I hope she castrates you man.

  • @A7Guitar holy fucking shit i just looked at your channel......wow....... ya I'M the sick one for being a strong healthy white man with excellent genetics that attracted a young perfect girl to love and have kids with.............................my god this country and this world are doomed.......the nazis were right..........if i have boys im going to raise them to be christian aryan warriors that will select perfect young wives and reproduce and continue the flow. you are the sick one.

  • @88warwolf thank you for proving my point of how sick you are. You have been reported to youtube as well as the proper authorities. Only an insane person would be sexist and racist as clearly you are. You say you have excellent genetics when clearly you are an inferior inbred hillbilly who has sex with the VCR provided you even know what one is. (its the box you put tapes in to watch movies on the big glowing picture box) I know you need help so get some soon. Id hate to see you reproduce.

  • @A7Guitar you're a freak. stop commenting on my comments.

  • @88warwolf make me :) besides you would know a lot about lower class especially being a pedofile racist now wouldnt you?

  • ya the "authorities" top priority is tracking down people that offended mentally insane transgenders on youtube.

  • @88warwolf and also thanks for watching my videos. You just gave me more views :)

  • the liberal lower class in america is disturbing to say the least.

  • @88warwolf I'm a social liberal, middle class blue collar and I belong to The ALPS. Armed Liberals Pro Second.

  • @jeshely noticed you favorited a charlie james video. do you know she did soft core porn for years before starting her internet workout series? her pron name was susana spears.

  • @88warwolf ... Good to know but whas your point? All the power and success to her in any LEGAL enterprise she decides to take on what ever it is. I have my life to live and she has hers, thats freedom to me. Shes not forcing any one to watch right ... so shes ok to me.

  • a shotgun in close quarters...ouch...there goes your hearing..watch the dog or cat too with the spray of lead.. a 38 revolver is quite enough for home defence...i have the bodyguard with a laser on it...easy to shoot easy to load easy to hit target...period

  • remember she was shooting at a still target. When you actually see a person you fear she won't be that calm. The shotgun is still the best .

  • I say you're all nuts, my personal home defense gun is an American 180 and it's only a .22 LR.

Sure, it holds 275 rounds in the pan, but it's still just a .22!

  • Most shooting encounters are less than 6 feet. It's a fact. Have her shoot closer. Then decide on your choice.

  • Shotgun everytime, but, the big but, you have to practice with it, I'm told and shown that spread with the average 20inch barrel, 1 inch every yard.

Get good and you'll stop them.

One thing I noticed is her stance was all wrong with the firing of all the weapons.

    She'll learn.

  • No the shotgun is by far the most effective home defense weapon out there. One shot from a 12gauge is equal to 9 rounds from a .562. Not to mention but HOME DEFENSE MEANS YOUR IN A HOUSE so its close quarters not to much to aim and with a shot gun its littleraly point and shoot. I recomend a mossberg 500. Fuck a hand gun and defenitly fuck a rifle.

  • i'd take the shotgun.

  • You have disappointed me with your lack of commas in the title. I expected you have to a revolver shotgun.

  • @Terrakinetic make that two of us.

  • @Terrakinetic same

  • what does age have to do with anything? u make yong people look stupid when u say stuff like im 15 and im unbyast blah blah! shut up nobody cares how old u are

  • @masonman100 i just said it cause hes like you must not know shit about guns so i said im fourteen chil, ishouldnt know that much about guns at fourteen.

  • @masonman100 And you make yourself look stupid when you can't spell the word "you" or use punctuation. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

  • accuracy is terrible not to be mean =]

  • I'm so tired of people preaching shotguns as the holy gospel of home defense. Shotguns are usually a poor choice.

  • @trevticks they dont have much range on them

  • @Ilovemoney1344 you must not no shit about guns shotguns have easily a 250yd range

  • @rey1933 im fourteen, chill the fuck out

  • @Ilovemoney1344 I'm 16 but i still know not to go saying stupid shit like shotguns have shitty range

  • A shotgun with a 250 effective range? None that I know of.

  • @trevticks thats because you dont know what the fuck your talking about youtube search for "Shotgun Slugs at 230 Yards" its by hickock

  • @rey1933 I bet hickock could hit steel plates at 1000 yards with a red ryder bb gun. Seriously, though he's awesome. 230 yards for home defense? try that in court.

  • @trevticks lets see you get back up from 12 00 buck pellets

  • @rey1933 I agree that shotguns can have some devastating firepower but they are overrated for home defense.

  • @trevticks Why does it matter if they are overrated. If they are effective in a worse case scenario, isn't that the bottom line?

  • @trunsako95zelda I'm just saying that there are better choices for a home defense gun than a shotgun. A shotgun is much better than nothing though.

  • @trevticks If you have a semi-automatic shotgun with Buckshot (or birdshot whatever) you have a huge chance of hitting your target without even looking down the sight, and you can fire rapidly over and over again if you missed somehow (unless of jam). I don't really see anything else better for home defense, but enlighten me. Tell me in your oppinion what would be a good choice.

  • @trunsako95zelda In my opinion the weapon should be able to used one handed, fire in a semi-automatic mode and be very easy to handle. I'm no expert but I would suggest a reliable semi auto in a caliber larger than 9mm with a taclight. I believe that every shot should be aimed well especially considering that it would be inside my home. One handed operation is key because it allows you to manipulate lights, doors etc and push off of walls, not to mention better weapon retention and handling.

  • @rey1933 you are telling people they are babys because they wouldnt get up from a shot gun blast wow you dumb.

  • @muppetmower98 WTF?

  • @rey1933 When did i say i could?

  • Hope she doesn't have any loved ones in the next room if she misses with the AR. She should learn to use the 20 gage best bet for inside.

  • Shotgun....best for narrow hallways n whatnot

  • AR later, when working, but for now (returning student) a Hi Point 995TS with Ranger-T ammo it is!!! Thank you for posting your research.

  • dear santa.....

  • All of these people talking shit about a 5.56 over-penetrating! What a bunch of uninformed idiots. Buckshot and Slugs from a shotgun almost always penetrate building materials more than a .223 round. Don't believe me, research it. Most high powered handguns will penetrate more than the .223. It mostly comes down to ammo selection. An FMJ will go through more than a Hollow point or soft point. If you really don't want over-penetration go with frangible ammo from Extreme shock.

  • She didn't even aim with the shotgun... lmao. Shotgun is by far the best of those 3 guns for home defense.

  • @BonitoBuddha I agree, however if she fears shooting the all mighty shotgun...thats no help,so long as she puts in some practice time with the AR-15...she sould be ok....nice vid btw.

  • Not a realistic test. Far too easy to concentrate midday and outdoors. Set up a simulated room with dim lighting and put some fear in her, then watch that puny little 5.56 fail her.

All you accomplished was an apples to oranges comparison.

  • You told her to get an AR? What were you thinking? A rifle will over penetrate, risking the kids and neighbors. A handgun requires too much thinking when something goes bump in the night. I hope for her sake she didn't take your less than informed or responsible advice.

  • You bet your ass the AR-15 can stop a threat!

  • i agree that the ar is a better tool for warfare and for killing people on the battlefield. but i dont think its ideal for home defense because of the likelihood of over penetration. i would try a 20 gauge with #4 buckshot. it is effective enough to stop someone inside of 10 yards and will probably not go through your wall(s) and into your neighbors house. after all, if you hit someone with a stray bullet you better believe you are getting sued big time.

  • How do you miss like that with a shotgun. All it does us spread

  • @rickybones1 You still have to aim the shotgun. I've seen people miss with shotguns. I've seen a man shoot at a target with a shotgun 7 times and only hit 3 pellets! Of course, we all laughed at him.

  • no offense, but thats cause she cant aim for shit, the 686 is a great revolver and you cant go wrong with a 12 gauge

  • She seemed very confident with the AR-15 as compared to the others. I think she made the right choice. Hurray!

  • Wow. knock her down to a semi-auto 20 gauge with #2 buck.

  • Hell, a 22. makes a good defense gun if you have good aim. The guy is right, it takes practice

  • That's all well and good, but I would have had her try an M1 Carbine also. Those are lighter still than an AR clone and with 110GR Cor-Bon JHPs are perfectly adequate for home defense. You can also get 30 round magazines (Although I'd stick with 15s for reliability) for them.

  • seems gay

  • How do you miss with a shotgun!?!?

I recommend the benelli M4 with some kind of red dot

Puts more lead on the target than anyone of the ones she used :D

I still don't know how she missed, at least the first shot, on the shotgun

why would she even get a gun if she's not willing to practice,

She will likely have the safety on trying to pull the trigger and

die with not 1 shot fired

(don't think it won't happen because while you're under a lot of stress, mistakes happen unless you practice)

  • @social3ngin33rin : lol, even when the evidence laid out in plain view, people still can't jettison their wrongly held assumptions. For the average person, shotgun is not a good choice for home defense. This video is a great example of why.

  • @social3ngin33rin How do you miss with a shotgun? Simple. At that range, the pellet pattern is only approximately 4-6 inches across in diameter, assuming she was firing a defense gun, which has no choke. In typical defensive situations, you don't have any more than ten yards (if you're lucky) to flirt with. At that range, 00 Buck, as they were using in the video, barely has a 5-inch spread. Very easy to miss unless you're using a Lupara.

  • yanks are allowed guns to fukin protect them self, luck cunts. Here in the uk i have a baseball ball bat and my fists, but fists are the deadliest weapon when growing up in scotland Lol

  • @MattHamilton101 Here in the states, we prefer massive chest wounds to black eyes and busted lips.

  • @MattHamilton101 wish you guys could have guns too stupid that the criminals can get them but good honest civillians cant..

  • @MattHamilton101

    Move to the US.

  • Teach her how to hold a long arm first, that shotgun recoiled horribly because it and the AR15 were not held near tight enough.

  • Why did nobody suggest a compact 9mm like a Glock 19? Easier to shoot and handle than any of the above, and much more practical for a woman her size. Shotguns are great if you can shoulder them, revolvers are great if your hands are big (you gave the the 686 WHY?), and the AR is just stupid for home defense. She needs a stock Glock 19 loaded with decent hollowpoints. My sister is her size and she keyholes at 7 yards.

  • one thing ya gotta remember is that with an AR-15 you have a fast moving round that can over penetrate. Hopefully if she ever has gto use it (God Forbid)..then she will be shooting down at a slight angle so the bullet will hit the ground eventually

  • this is stupid... seems like all they just want to kill someone so bad that theyll probably kill a small child if they walked in their house

  • @naxrox you've clearly never had the pleasure of being a victim of a robbery, rape or home invasion

  • all you need is a small pistol

  • Glock 35 with a tac light and lots of range time. Shotguns are not well suited for home defense.

  • @trevticks You don't need the competition Glock 35. The Glock 22 or 27 will do just fine.

And shotguns are actually not bad for home defense. With a pistol grip, a tac light, birdshot, and as short a barrel as you can legally have, you've got a wieldable, reliable, easy to use gun that makes your target visible and with birdshot, you risk less collateral damage in a high stress situation where aim will probably suffer, even with lots of range time. Everyone responds to stress differently.

  • I would suggest she buy a .38 snub-nose and a 20 gauge shotgun for Home Defense. The AR-15 is not a good choice. The 870 is too much for her.

  • still tho man .223 isn't really the best choice.i have got a lot of trigger time behind a 5.56 and regardless i think its a bad idea.i have taken part in way to many ballistics tests to think otherwise.

  • I don't care too much between a shotgun or rifle for HD. Learn to aim either, and you really can't miss at indoor ranges. Just as long as you don't plan for a gunfight with a handgun. Harder to aim and piss poor at stopping attackers.

  • @inbox485 Handguns have their virtues. For instance...it only takes one hand to operate so that allows you to turn on lights, carry a child, call police on cell phone...all while holding a small handgun in your other hand,

  • @BlueCollarSurvival All valid points. Handguns have their place which is why I carry one. That said, if it is ever an option between the two, long guns stop people, handguns stop people eventually. Both kill, but one has a tendency to stop them now rather than latter.

  • @inbox485

Depends on the handgun. If you're talkin' along the lines of 9mm Para and below, fuck yes handguns don't do shit other than piss you off. .40 S&W JHPs and above will do the job.

.357 Magnum JHPs stop 'em dead. Just don't miss or your neighbor's gonna join the son of a bitch.

  • @TheWitnesserer I'd actually say anything .45acp and under is in the stop them eventually category (I'm not real familiar with the higher end revolver loads so I won't comment beyond saying somewhere before you get to 500 S&W you are on par with an AR - if you can handle it). Handguns are for when you can't conveniently be using a long gun.

  • @inbox485

I don't know anyone who would ever use a .500 S&W on a man. Maybe if you were expecting a bear to rob your house hahaha.

My problem with rifles is that you will likely get sued if you miss. They deliver a lot more kinetic energy than most handgun rounds and they tend to overpenetrate by a ridiculous margin if you miss, potentially hitting your neighbor or his dog or his kid. This is why I stick to a 12-gauge with 4 (or larger) birdshot. Buckshots tend to go through walls more easily.

  • @TheWitnesserer Uh dude there's something called frangible rifle ammunition ( many for the .223 remington/ar15). Its a bullet that shatters as soon as it hits a solid surface. Plus there are many studies that prove ar15 .223 remmy loads penetrate less than most of the popular pistol calibers

  • @MajestyQuickness

Uh, dude, no need to be a douche about it.

Anyway, your point is taken. I forgot about breaching rounds. But I'd still stick with birdshot (for under-experienced shooters) because your accuracy doesn't need to be pinpoint especially if you're using higher spread shot like 8 birdshot and a non-choked barrel.

Again, it's all in the preference. I personally prefer a revolver because it's the simplest operation. I don't wanna have to deal with safeties and shit at 3 frikkin' am.

  • @TheWitnesserer I wasnt being a douche at all. Sorry if I came across as rude. The myth that ar15 rifle is too much gun for close quarter defense has been chopped up and squashed to pieces many times.. Theres many FBI ballistic studies that proven that .223 remington actually penetrate less than 40 s&w or 9mm pistol rounds. Energy dissipates in the target at a quicker rate . Simply put its a better defense round. BTW Birdshot isnt a sure manstopper. I agree with you about revolvers tho.

  • @MajestyQuickness Apology accepted.

I suppose those studies were done on common .223s and pistol rounds. If you load any gun with breaching rounds, the effect will probably be the same. Since the overpenetration issue dies with the use of safety rounds, I would still choose a handgun due to simplicity and maneuverability.

Check my response to inbox485 for the birdshot stuff.

And hell yeah, revolvers are the way to go. They fail on you once in 30,000 shots.

  • @TheWitnesserer Well 223 bullet is blasting at a much much much higher velocity than the pistol round so no the effect wont be "the same". The 223 will do more internal damage at a faster rate.

I still maintain that if I want to surely stop a possibly armed BG (preferably cancel any chance of him firing back at me) I need something more reliable to drop him than birdshot. Thats just me tho ;)

  • @MajestyQuickness I meant "the same" as in regarding the whole issue of overpenetration and frangible rounds. Sorry if I failed to make that clear before.

As for the birdshot deal, it's not a "one-hit-kill" gun like they make most crap out there to be in the movies, but so long as you stay on or above the BBB sized shots, you're good. Like I said, FF borders on buck without being buck. It sure as hell ain't no double-0 buck, but it gets the job done. FF pellets are fuc'n huge for birdshot.

  • @MajestyQuickness My own personal defense setup is a Ruger GP100 loaded with .357 Magnum Hornady FTX 125 gr ammunition (which I always have on my person in a holster), so my aim has to be perfect so I don't whack my neighbor, but that's not all that much of a worry for me since I live in a small abode and I'm surrounded by cinder block walls. Believe it or not, my Mossberg 500 is my BACKUP LOL. I plan on getting either a Delta Elite or Glock 20 next for home defense as well.

  • @TheWitnesserer I have the Glock 20 as my main home D gun. Its a backup hunting tool too. Its great! Its such a versatile round. Underrated and often overlooked. Those with small hands or are recoil sensitive may not like. Mossberg 935 with 00 is my backup. I want an ar15 badly. There pretty pricey tho. Houses here are spaced about 110 yds apart. As a gun. owner I think its very important to get friendly with your neighbors. I was already close with mine before I bought my defense arsenal.

  • @MajestyQuickness The 10mm auto is definitely underrated. I read about it before actually getting into it and it's really not as bad a recoil beast as what most people (those who prefer the .40 "Short & Weak" lol) like to say. I shoot .357 Magnums regularly and it's really not that bad.

I wanna get the Glock 20, but the Delta Elite just looks too slick. Sure it doesn't have the kind of capacity as the nearly double Glock 20 magazine, but it's just too cool-looking. Maybe I'll get both.

  • @TheWitnesserer

I love 10MM, I shoot .40 S&W only because neither Sig nor Springfield have come out with XDs or P226 (P229 in my case) in 10MM yet.

  • @MajestyQuickness Call me paranoid or a weirdo or an anime fandude or whatever, but I also carry around a wakizashi and a ka-bar on my person along with the GP100. And I know how to use all three. Used to practice kendo before I had to quit cuz of an increasingly busy life.

It might sound like overkill, but hey, I value the safety of my family.

Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum!

  • @TheWitnesserer Well if you live in a problem area you need to use whatever you feel comfortable with. Its not paranoid at all. In my case I live in a area thats ridiculously quiet and drama free. I'm almost sure nothing will ever happen here but keep my arsenal ready anyway. I got my defensive arsenal bcuz a family member was robbed at gunpoint in a neighborhood 80 miles away. I think I'm more paranoid than you. lol

  • @MajestyQuickness Hey, a robbery can happen anywhere. My neighborhood used to be nice and quiet, too, that was until a group of drug dealers moved in five houses down from me. That's when my dad and I both started stocking up on loads of shit, including smaller calibers like 20 ga. and 9mm pistols for the ladies that might happen to be with us at the time.

Frankly, if I were the intruder, I'd be more worried about the katana getting to me. Getting your arm sliced off is traumatizing lol.

  • @TheWitnesserer Obviously the .500 S&W was meant as a ridiculous extreme. As for rifles, if you are talking about mil surplus FMJ ammo, then yes it isn't too bright. But there is rifle ammo made for urban use that is no more of a penetration risk than handgun rounds. As for birdshot, it won't stop anybody. They may choose to stop because of pain, but incapacitation even from point blank birdshot wounds is not reliable. If it won't go through a couple layers of drywall it won't stop a bad guy.

  • @inbox485 Of course it was hyperbole. I tried my best to give a lighthearted response to reflect that.

I commented on those breaching rounds to another responder in case you missed it.

Also, it depends on what size birdshot. If you're talking 7 or 8, then hell no it doesn't even have the power to stop a turkey. For birdshot, you pick T or above, preferably FF, which borders on buck without being excessive.

  • Comment removed

  • and 5 of those went through the intruder and into her childs bedroom

  • @poulinalexander

You can get ammo for an AR that is designed to not over penetrate like that. Just like any self defense ammo, full metal jacket is what you shoot at the range not what you keep ready for intruders.

  • s+w makes a .410 revolver its small, loud enough 2 make a bad guy shit his pants and if need b take his intruding ass out .thats if he makes it thru the dog

  • shotguns she needs some work i sugest a 410 or 20 both can easily make someone into salad

  • Is that a red dot sight she's using with the AR? Because if it is, that made it a lot easier for her to hit her target and it had nothing to do with the weapon itself. The shotgun and the revolver are far more suitable for home defense otherwise she might end up hitting someone other than the perp.

  • I think the pistol grip on the AR helped her steady the gun.

Either way, she needs practice. A rifle can over-penetrate and/or ricochet.

  • i have a handgun and find it challenging to shoot well and can imagine it not working out well if things were dark and my adrenaline was pumping. decided to do a shotgun rental at the range yesterday, with the 870 and nova. these are amazing! I hit and blew to smithereens what i pointed at.

  • only one pellet of 3 shells hit. that looks to be about 16 pellets in the vid. thats' funny but that one pellet would still sting like hell!

  • The AR is not only the worst but the dumbest decision of the 3, the AR-15 is a rifle, which means it can go through alot of things ie: your childrens bedroom wall. The shotgun is by far the best choice,do'nt have to be that accurate and the stopping power is great, plus if you want to you can use non-leathal rounds. Don't get me wrong the AR is an amazing gun and I love mine, but my Mossy 500 would be what I would grab if I heard a window breaking.

  • @blueflame53

Civilians can buy non lethal rounds for a shotgun?

  • @haszK im pretty sure ya can man.

  • Did anybody state the actual distance between the young lady and her target?

  • I think the advantage of the AR, was that it could be "shouldered", thus offering more control. You can do the same with the shotgun, but the recoil is heavier. A handgun, on the other hand, is not easy to master. I suspect that if she had tried a submachine gun, she would've done as well in terms of hitting the target.

  • I understand the way this test was supposed to work. But im still a bit skeptical. I first off would want to know how much "coaching" was done on each gun. Seems to me like there was a bit of hype associated with the .223. Also, you give her practice on all 3 weapons and she wich one she picks in the end. Look, I prefer the KISS method. With a revolver, you pull the trigger it goes bang! In the middle of the night, thats what you want/need the gun to do.... go BANG. How bout a follow up test?

  • what is she going to do with her ar when her aimpoint goes dead? she will be shooting like she was with the other two.

  • it doesnt even look like she aimed...i mean really the groupings are waay off if she was aiming i dont know many people that could shoot that bad if they tried and shes only like 20 feet away from the target...she needs to aim before each shot and stop rushing

  • well when she goes blasting that AR 15 in the house i hope she lives on a big piece of land far from anybody and that there is no one else in the house with her.....an AR 15 is not a home defense gun for your typical person. because in a stressful home invasion she will not get 7 of 9 in center mass .........just sayin

  • if u want someone to get used to a gun.. give em a couple boxes of ammo and let em plink away... then move on to accuracy and training and such

  • shotgun wins every time with just a little practice.

  • I wouldsay use what you KNOW how to use. If you practice all the time with a 10/22 then use that.

  • Hornady and Corbon are making bullets to reduce/eliminate over penetrations so I wouldn't worry about it if you are packing the right ammo. FMJ will definitely go through a few walls though

  • rifle round travels too far...impractical for home defense in urban / populated area.

  • I'm thinking inside the house a shotgun would win, nobody could get down a hallway if you were at the other end with a shotgun.

Outside the house I feel I could clear my whole backyard in seconds with a semiauto shotgun.

  • Yeah....I gotta gun with the shotgun! The revolver, or the M4 might take more than one shot to stop someone...one hit from the shotgun and I don't think it's a problem anymore!

  • what if you miss,

how long does it take to get another round off.

how mobile is a shotgun inside.

can you suppress a shotgun to not hurt your ears, cus i can garuntee if someones in your house with deadly intent, your not gunna stop to put some earplugs in.

  • @elvishboyman You have a better chance of missing with a revolver, just because you have six shots, does not mean you will not be nervous and miss...if you have an auto-loading shotgun, you can get off the next round as fast as you could with a handgun! If someone's breaking into your home, wanting to kill you...are you really going to be concerned about your hearing? Bullet penetration is why I pick the shotgun, what if you miss with the handgun, it goes through a wall and kills someone?

  • @firestream93

And shotguns are usually cheaper too! Plan on buying one myself this month!

  • @elvishboyman Well the sound of the cycling of the shell in the pump action is usually enough to make people stop in their tracks. It wouldn't really matter about your hearing if your life is in danger. Getting another round off would depend on if its pump or semi and how fast you could cycle it.

  • This is a great video. It illustrates the important debate (never to end) over which firearm is best for the home. Many variables apply. The demonstration in this video is a model of how each home defender should decide the question.

    Great work.

You will get more viewers if you add more "tags", and upload this video as a response to other popular videos.

    Thanks.

  • The AR worked best for her. Really, thats all the matters.

  • @bobbycombo I would still recommend she get some type of handgun that will easy for her to manuever with. Suggestions: .38 snubnose, 9mm compact or .32 Tomcat

  • "Threats don't alway drop dead with the first shot like in the movies"

They do if it's a 12 gauge loaded with double aught buckshot, they'll drop like a sack of bricks.

  • I own a security camera business, and most people wait till they are robbed before they call me.Dont wait till ur house and ur family are violated before u put in security measures. Invest in a shotgun and or a camera system. When I am called robbers usually have struck. They mostly take guns, jewelery, small electronics like cameras, and tools. Stuff the can carry and easily hide on their person. The family is usually always pissed, and they dont feel comfortable in their home anymore.

  • Or, get the best of all worlds by getting a revolver shotgun.

  • I'm glad she bought the rifle. I recommend she buy a smaller handgun such as a Kel-tec or Beretta 9mm, .32 or .380. or a .38 snub nose. The shotgun she needed a stronger stance and utilize the beed sight. To those who said she can't shoot all she has to do is practice.

  • 20 gauge, low recoil buckshot, knoxx stock. That should help with flinching.

  • Beretta CX4 Storm/ .45 ACP, Kel-Tec Sub 2000/ .40 S&W or Saiga 410.

  • I would try a 20 gauge before chosing and AR. Not only could she buy 7 shotguns for the price of one AR, if she does miss with the AR I hope I am not her neighbor

  • @gfpd2722

U can get dpms for 700 and mine works great. I would agree about the neighbor thing but it doesn't look like they have neighbors from the video. I would agree that shotguns are typically the best option for home defense. Although, a 1911 is my current choice because my 870 is for hunting and it is too long for home defense. I have considered using my AR15 as my primary home defense gun because I don't think hollow point .223s will go through my exterior brick wall.

  • Ive gotta say i think the shotgun part was rigged. my first time shooting a shotgun i was bouncing beer cans all over the place from about 3 times that distance. and i was 13

  • Microwave burst gun would be the best. I hope it gets invented soon. It would turn the perp into dinner. Then all you have to do is pop in a DVD. :)

  • Me too, I can't wait!!! LOL :)

  • lol she musta been scared of that 870. barely hit the target lol!

  • Good video, terrible shooter!

  • Pretty good video.

I'd like to see another one with a GLOCK 9mm instead of the DA revolver and a self-loading shotgun instead of the pump to see if those would make a difference. The DA pull and recoil on that 686 probably and the recoil and manual chambering on the pump affected her accuracy.

  • bitch cant shoot at all

  • Great video, the comments remind me of a certain saying.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

  • What do you think of this suggestion for a woman alone in the home. A 410 shotgun semi auto with pistol grip? Easy to point and shoot, little recoil, more stopping power than a pistol.

  • 2. sure the accuracy of weapon is important. but which weapon can she access in her home, in the dark, with possible danger less than 8 feet, or less away? an AR 15?

the AR 15 by concept is NOT a defensive weapon...it is an offensive one...it's a long range shooter (what about that is defensive?)

  • 3. if i plan on escaping my home through zombie infested land I would want an autoloading rifle.

but, if i'm choosing a firearm for my wife when she's out and about or at home with the children, not unless she has a mansion to defend...i don't think an AR-15 is best for the INTENDED APPLICATION.
