@TheCrackerJack79 they actually do, its just tough to see with the low quality of the video and the lighting. i was standing there taking the video, they were lit up.
@korgboy98 Ah yes that brings back memories of Concorde taking off from Heathrow with four engines on full afterburn, everyone stopping in the street to watch her go by...And setting off all the car alarms.
The F-16 is my favourite jet fighter. The RAF should have ordered them...or F18s.
I was in a town near Petchabun when the odd Thai AF F-16 would belt overhead with the air condensing into a little cloud around the jet. I'm like WoW!!! Look at that!!! Not one of the Thais took any notice :(
Man, they're the coolest thing after sliced bread v.v. Haven't you realized what will happen if you had to take the effort in cutting loaf after loaf? Just think about it v.v
doesnt anyone notice the direction of the orange flag. I dont know about you, but when i take off i like wheels up into the wind, not a tail wind on take off. but i guess when you have that kinda power it doesnt matter, but id rather be safe than sorry and take off into the wind.
Lol are you kidding me? The "orange flag" is a windsock and it is indicating that there is a slight tailwind component of around 5 knots which is really not that bad.
if they really had to do an emergency scramble, they wouldnt have time to roll down the runway and go towards the wind. and besides, they dont need to lol.
Um, no, these are all slow, low-power takeoffs with no afterburner. When an F16 uses afterburner, you'll know it. Grade of title: F. Grade of video: C. Stars: 3.
It's your eyes that fail. You don't see the afterburner firing? Agreed that they are not max-aug but none the less they have cracked burner into min-aug. They are configured air-to-ground. They've got to have burner to break ground.
You can clearly see the glow from the afterburners. The last one to take off was using the full burner, since it had a 10 foot flame coming from the back of the engine.
On military aircraft the extra thrust is also useful for combat situations. This is achieved by injecting additional fuel into the jet pipe downstream of (after) the turbine. The advantage of afterburning is significantly increased thrust; the disadvantage is its very high fuel consumption and inefficiency, though this is often regarded as acceptable for the short periods during which it is usually used.
An afterburner (or reheat) is an additional component added to some jet engines, primarily those on military supersonic aircraft. Its purpose is to provide a temporary increase in thrust, both for supersonic flight and for takeoff (as the high wing loading typical of supersonic aircraft designs means that take-off speed is very high).
it's kerosene...........now STFU you clearly know nothing about aircraft and aviation.........so stop making yourself look like a retard and stop writing about stuff you don't know shit about
is it just me, but dosn't the afterburner make like a 10 foot flame out the back when its on?... there are other vids on here with afterburners on and its all flame out the back...
f16 have played a decisive role in almost all recent wars of america. its a nice multi purpose aircraft. I am a fan of f16. thanks God india don't have this blessing yet.
The F-16 is a love hate plane... I love it... But i hate how when the plane turns on in a Haz All the fucking spiders drop down because of the heat... thus leading me to hate this plane... or maybe just spiders..
The bright flame coming out the nozzle is the afterburner, also known as reheat. It's basically just fuel injected straight into the exhaust can and it gives a considerable thrust boost, at the cost of a higher fuel-consumption rate. Good for quickly accelerating but not to be used to often, as full afterburner will drain your fuel in about 10-15 minutes!
Yes they are taking of at full burn. Depending on their fuel load (Seeing they have wing tanks) they need the extra boost to get airborn. I'm an F-16 crew chief and all our vipers are always at full burn when they take off. Look at the exhaust section, see the orange glow? Yeah thats the burner....
No after burner pal. I was lucky enough to have done my engineering internship at GE Aircraft Engines and worked in a test cell. I was afforded the opportunity to view a F110 (F14, F15, and F16 engine) during a test and stand about 8 ft. away from it while running 135% PLA (max after burner), obviously I was only viewing this through a 12" peep hole as the engine was enclosed in the test cell. But still... no more than 8 ft. separated us. Most amazing thing I've ever seen or heard bar none!!!
the 16 is loud, but the F-14 takes the prize for for excessive noise tho. Those were some damn fine birds. Was a real shame to see them retire. Used to love watching them test the engines up on the flight deck at night. Full burner on the 14 will make 15+ foot flame
That depends on the weather conditions and how bright it is outside, most fighter jets always take off at full afterburner to get maximum acceleration. If the burners weren't on you would not see any flame or even the orange glow in the tailpipe at all. The snow on the ground probably made it too light out to see the full thrust cone.
Although this video is cool, NOTHING compares to seeing it, hearing it, and feeling that raw fucking power! It does something to me. Gives me goose bumps.
It depends on what kind of plane it is and the loadout. You still have to have runway left incase of an abort so its best to get up to take off speed as quick as possible. With one engine, its better for it to crash on base then in a neighborhood. Were I was stationed at, there was a regular rode at the end of the runway about 10 feet from the military fence and houses.
It's daylight, you won't see much. Check out F-16 afterburner run, the one at night. You should feel what it's like to do leak checks on the motor when it's tied down and in full AB!
we had one of these at our local airshow. i was on the pier and it went past at close range and at eye level, as it passed us it was dead silence, this lady said "oh thats a nice quiet one isnt it!" 3 seconds later she was holding her ears and screaming.
In my 12 years fixing 16s It was very rare to see a jet with bags(tanks) takeoff without using burner. Takeoffs are Mil(dry) or full AB depending on gross lbs also depends on weather conditions
Pretty much right, but the afterburner operates in stages or augmentations. There's no indicators telling the pilot what level of afterburner he/she is running at other than looking at the fuel flow gauge(s). If you wanna waste fuel for no reason, then yeah, go ahead and take-off with full AB, but these F-16s aren't taking off with full AB. Simple way to tell is by looking at the engine nozzle. Fully Open=Full AB, Closed=Full MIL Power, Somewhere In Between=Some AB.
You know nothing f16 dont take off with full afterburner they take of at about 50% power lol they have A shit load of power they dont need to waiste it all taking off

The plane that made the most noise that day was an F-16.
It was turning tight circles over the airfield with its afterburner lit
What a noise it made for a plane with only 1 burner!!!
Amazing machine...........and yes the RAF should have bought some years ago.
Tornado F3 would have done long range air defence and the F-16 would have been the short range highly agile attack plane.

You can see they after burner flames coming out of the engine, they are using full power.

You cant see the flame on the first jet and its going to slow to be using afterburner

50% power??? They are using 70% rpm when they are idle!

revs and power is completly different. i'de be worried if it was using 70% power standing still.
its beacuse there extremly beasty engines.
