great memories. the Stiles family 1960-1970. lived in house Y-16. Father was a pilot w Air America. thanks for posting this wonderful video. i remember so well the planes and hangar.
@crazecatz Hi this is mike skidmore I posted the tachi ab video, I have a web site for tachi so please come and join, we have over 1100 in the group including lots of kids.
This video brings back great memories, we lived right across the street from the Skidmore family in this video. The Myrah family, Bertha and Lester Myrah, Kids, Don, Cheryl, Patricia, Marilyn and Susan. Patricia spotted this video and spotted all the girls playing out front in the wagon and on the bicycles. what a treat to see this video footage, we also moved to Tachi in 60 and then went to Yamato.
@lowdivide100 wow its great to hear from you after all these years and you remember my family....that was a great time in my life for sure. please email me at mskids001@aol.com
Tachi was a magical place, altogether. We transferred from Johnson in 61, I went to Yamato as a sophomore. So many tearful goodbyes at the terminal. So much fun, we lived right beside the teen club, what a delight for a 15 year old turning 16. Still have pics of twist contests at the teen club. Great memories!! Thanks!
@Paula44250 hi this is mike skidmore yamato high grad class of 69. are you going to the yamato reunion in las vegas in oct? can you email me i am on aol mskids001 I also have a web site for tachi ab I would like you to join and i have lots more of yamato and tachi videos . my dad was at tachi from 58 to 62 and then 67 to 70.
pictures are fabulous. Most of, if not all, of the aircraft shown are in the USAF Museum now......in Dayton Ohio. Love the music. Doo Wop at its finest. Thanks....
Another classic shot is at 5:04. I mean nothing else in the sky looks like it. Some kind of mechanical flying dinosaur. Douglas had a hell of a run with sucessful & popular a/c thru the '30's & 40's. But their luck ran out somewhat w/the C133, but still, what a plane.
yes you could always hear those engines going 24 hours a day. of course i remember those noisy brakes on the c 124 . to this day i cant sleep unless i have a box fan making noise to go to sleep because of living around the noise of planes
I'm enjoying watching your various videos. Tachikawa looks like it was a magical place back then & in other ways not (I'm sure the maintenance crew busted butt on those piston monsters). But man, what classic aircraft graced that field.
Thank you, Mike. I would enjoy visiting your website. I will google and see if I can find it. Thanks for posting such wonderful and fond memories.

Also, it's hard to make a C 97 look good, but the shot at 6:43 is, as they say, most impressive.

maybe it was a generals plane and they kept it polished
