@noisyguy In order to get pen pressure working I installed the wacom graphire driver which works perfectly well on this tablet and I assume nearly on any wacom penabled tablets like the thinkpad x series tablets or others
I just ordered a Tecra M4 myself on ebay ($320 Buy It Now). My tablet was breaking slowly so I came across the M4 while scopping out Wacoms since I hated that my unbranded tablet (though it worked well in Windows) had no Linux support. Since this is Wacom branded there should already be support for it in Linux but I'll find out soon. Should arrive this afternoon.
@joshsniper27 The technology built into this tablet is compatible to the wacom graphire drivers under windows. So it should work on ubuntu linux out of the box. If not you can consider this hxxp://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom maybe it helps.
don't forget to enable pen pressure in the gimp settings which is disabled by default.
@MrTobiable yeah it works fine in linux, i've used it in linux. i hadn't received the tablet yet at the time i posted. that was just the problem i had with my last unbranded tablet that the usb cord is getting a little iffy on.
Wow youre a sick ass painter! That was pretty sweet. I also bought a tecra m7 on ebay for 250$ and I love it! I want to get a big hard drive and a few high capacity batteries for it. I peeled the screen protector off and it makes the screen look so much better. Who do you work for? are you freelance? I wanna get good at stuff like this, i guess im somewhat artistic but need a lot of practice.
I don't work as an artist. Even if it has always been a dream of mine.
But its also tough business and the order situation looks much better for software developers. So I decided to study computer science which I'm doing right now.
And I think it was a good decition.
If you want to get good at drawing go to the forums like conceptart org draw and post stuff get comments and critique and don't annoy the people there (which is very easy ;)).
Thanks for posting this video. I already had an old Wacom Ultrapad that had 256 or 128 leves of pressure and I relly can't see too much difference with my current tablet. I'm interested on a tablet pc; how is is the screen in this one, the color fidelity etc? 120€ seems too good to be true :)
I have also worked on a Graphire and own an Intuos and don't think the
number of pressure levels is that important. But there should be at least some.
maybe you should look for a portege it has the same specs but is only 12" should be better to draw not having this quite heavy 14" beast on your knees.
