Since the US Constitution is increasingly being ignored by the recent presidents, then certainly standing for America, and standing for its leaders are 2 very different things.

My point is that I support the man who flew the flag upside down in protest of a new President that he doesn't agree with (as long as he doesn't disrespect the flag). While I commend your all-inclusive approach to Liberty, a Confederate flag in any of its varied formats hardly symbolizes the melting pot that epidermises the true character of this great nation. While I can appreciate your proud southern heritage, Im old enough to remember the contextual role of the Confederate Flag during the Civil Rights Movement and as recently as last years presidential campaign. Our current financial crisis didnt happen overnight. It takes more time to rebuild a burned down house than it does to set it on fire. Question: Do you pay your Federal Income Taxes? Inanimate objects are not responsible for the good or evil that transpires in the world. Burning or improperly displaying a map, flag, Constitution, Holy Book or effigy, does not harm or diminish the integrity or quality of a person, place, thing or ideology. Still, we should respect what others hold dear. To improperly display my nations flag due to self inflicted stress brought on by personal irresponsibility is an insult.

Letters, emails, meetings & running for office are all long term efforts & I & others are involved in that - fruition, however is years away. The flag at half staff, however, is immediate, prompts Qs & gets attention in the NOW. Was the flag flown upside down during slavery? Was it inverted the past 8 years under Bush?
