You can blame Donald Trump for that. It was his idea to move to the fall and most of the owners thought he could bankroll it. Of course they never ended up playing another game after that decision. I am not saying they would have been a success staying in the spring but it was a great league to watch for the 3 years it was around. Jim Kelly, Steve Young, Nate Newton, and so many more who went on to glory in the NFL. I still think someone should try another spring league!

I agree....the USFL was great and I personally think it could have survived. The league had it's own stars and was a lot of fun to follow. If it had kept to the spring idea I think it would have survived. New USFL.....I agree too gimmicky. Make it a real league for god's sake.

The rules are alittle too gimmicky. A field goal over 50 years and a safety are worth 4 points. Just do real football. I'm more concerned about drafting players. I don't want the league to go back to 1986. I propose that they should have a draft in the fall of players that where released form the NFL roster and not on contract by the NFL teams and/or free agent or hasn't been drafted by any leauge.

I was in sheer anguish when this league folded, and the shady way their anti-trust suit against the NFL wws handled, they clearly had an ironclad case, in spite of Trump. Even sadder, something could've been worked to merge some of the teams into the NFL, if need be, especially the Showboats, Wranglers, Outlaws, Baltimore Stars, Breakers and Stallions. I miss the USFL, it was just as exciting and fun to watch as the NFL, too bad they think they have to be the only game in town sometimes.

BTW- Nobody ever fired Trump for ruining their chance to bounce back! They could have bounced back re expanded and still be around today if they didn't try to sue the NFL!

Being awarded more the $1 trebled for winning the suit would have helped a lot. For the jury to say the NFL was a monopoly but only award $1 in the hope that the judge would adjust it, which he didn't, was a travesty.

I have the Final Season on VHS. I like watching but hate the diting, it doesn't allow you to see the rest of the league.
