  • This was the best DT song I've heard in years. I'm not saying I don't like the stuff you've done, this was musically the most adventurous thing you guys have done since Octavarium (the song). I'm excited about the new album, I really like everything I've heard. The snippets piss me off and make me feel like an addict. September 13 is an eternity away. Damn those snippets. Damn them.

  • for good luck in the next show- break your hand

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE THAT PATTERN

  • The keyboard sounds on this album are just amazing.

  • how can 1 person make something sound sooo amazing?

    genious

  • At first I didn't understand who was playing so I thought: wow, that keyboardist is very very god...

...then I saw Jordan, so I understood ahah

  • man, rudess definitely gives dream theater that "magic" touch, one of a kind

  • God! How can this man can be true?

  • Jordan you are a true beast! Good Luck in the studio for when you guys start the next album man! Dream Theater is the greatest!

  • this is better than porn! Jordan, You are Amazing<3

  • I wish you all would've played this at Nissan. :(

  • If Petrucci was really Jesus he would be playing this on guitar too.

  • @SneakehNub he probably could!

  • damn :|

  • Is this a split with two mono leads?

  • Jordan, you're my favorite bald man (after my father).

and coming from me it's quite a compliment!

    :)

  • Jordan, you are amazing, man. I can't believe what I just saw, absolutely amazing.

  • It's like magic every time i get to that part of the song.

  • This is actually my favourite part of the song, i always end up backing up to this part again and again..

  • Man that's amazing! I'd love to have that music sheet :p

You play two different things in both hands right?

  • I always thought this was the most beautiful keyboard part I've ever heard.. I mean, with the rest of the song, you know? It's just really beautifully done.

    Thank you so much Jordan.

  • Perfect

  • 0:09

How does a thing like that even help when you have SO MANY NOTES to play!

  • Fuck you Owl City!!

  • @AntiHero1996 Yeah- but I really like Owl City!!!

  • @JCRUDESS Haha ok sorry man, just trying to say you rule man, keep rocking!

  • @JCRUDESS Yes Jordan, I'd like too, ti is very interesting project. Good Job, see you in Italy.

  • @JCRUDESS You do? :D So cool!

  • @JCRUDESS ME TOOOO ^_^

  • @JCRUDESS Then we all do too. :-)

  • @JCRUDESS Me too :) He has some nices melodies =]

  • @JCRUDESS WHAT?!? What blasphemy is this? Next thing you'll be trying to tell us that you listen to Radiohead!

  • @ZachValkyrie Radiohead aren't that bad get a grip, I hate people that believe they listen to the 'master-genre' even if I don't like an artist or style I won't purposely go out of my way to diss them..... UNLESS its just Justin Bieber or Rebecca black, then you have a reason.

  • @tommie997 It was a joke! It's cause JR lists Radiohead as one of his favorite bands on his website! Thanks for killing the joke asshole!

But yeah, the idea of a "Master Genre" is crap. I have Classical, Synthpop, Jazz Fusion and Death Metal in my collection; It's all music.

  • @ZachValkyrie .........Oh.......... I hope you understand that I only meant good intentions with that comment. So I better apologize for being a dick, sorry lol.

  • I love how he has his sheet music on a PDF!!!

  • so good

  • I need a keyboardist like this one!!!

  • I assume Jesus gave you the lead sound?

  • @Slashe50 he cant give himself that lead sound

  • @dehdehderzz

He can do anything he wants to. Don't doubt the man... person... spirit... god?

  • @Slashe50 i was implying that he is jesus and this vid is clear evidence

  • @dehdehderzz So was I?

  • Which scale are you using here?

  • @SPARDATheDemon93

    Its normal G flat minor.

  • @SPARDATheDemon93

    G sharp* sorry

  • I love this lead sound.

  • The keyboard world can be tooooooo confusing!!

  • Do you have the partiture????

  • @korgjuan Go on the Jordan Rudess Online Conservatory, you pay (once time for lifetime), and you'll find this section on PDF format ;).

  • its a very difficult solo, i´m learning it

  • O____O i tried it for a lot of time but it's really difficult...

  • it's good specially the last moment

  • hahaaa what a surprise indeed. Very nice

  • "stay tune" always!

  • LOL, I was gonna write something like "hey, pretty good cover of Dream Theater man!" ... then the camera moved to reveal who was the man behind the keys! :-)

    Merry x-mas!!!

  • haha me too, but then at :33 I knew: there's only one set of fingers in the universe that can practice a ridiculous part and still do something like that

  • This version needs playing live. Like, all the way to the end too. Would be fun!

  • Thats my favourite part of the song!!! LOVE IT!!!

    Come to Chile!!! xD

  • OMG, the last part was in freaking key!!! rudess is not human

  • no -_- how is it....retard!

  • no, your just a dream theater hater, why do you even look at these videos

  • haha. ur such a twat. last month i saw them live and im happy to say that it was the best concert ive ever been to. so dont say im a hater. but that run he did at the end of that clip was not in key. it was just a random run!

  • ok then, ive seen them too, best show ever, end of conversation

  • HOLY SHIT ..the last part...it was in KEY ..awesome

  • Tell them about my brother, tell them about me.....

  • .....The Count of TUSSSCANYYYYEEEEYEYEEEYEEYEEEEEEEEEEE YEEEAAAAAH!!

  • this is sick! so great!

  • ahh. my favorite part out of the whole song =)

  • can anyone else imagine this played on a harpsichord?

  • OK then, guess not!

  • I love that keyboard lead sound. Pure Mark Kelly /Marillion from 80's.

  • so crazy ...

i am struggling with one hand playing that part and he just plays it double handed as it seems soo easy ^^

  • what sound is that?

  • I think it is a basic waveform mixed (sawthooth & square) at the same time, with a split in the left hand. He uses that sound in octavarium and in a lot of songs and leads ;)

  • lol if you read the screen on his oasys it says "just relax!!!"

  • I am trying to learn this right now...it takes so much concentration!

  • Looks like the practice paid off. :)

    (See my Video Response)

  • Thanks for keeping the fans posted! How much does the digital sheet music setup cost? And can it be setup to use tabs as well?

  • now this is an added reason why i love you guys, you just do so much more for fans thanks for this its fun to watch

  • I WANT THAT SHEET MUSIC!

  • You couldn't use it anyway ;)

  • @ViperK88 It is on Jordan Rudess Online Conservatory.

  • @ViperK88

There's a MIDI file for this section (along with the others in these 3 practice videos) available. Just google "Count of tuscany zolhof midi" and it's the first link.

  • Jordan has another youtube channel? :o

    Subscribing to this!

  • Very difficult.

  • i love you man haha. i got the silver ticket in my boxset and i cant wait to meet you in NYC

  • You got a ticket?! *Willy Wonka song starts* Lucky!

I saw them in ATL a few days ago, it was amazing. You'll have a blast.

  • I honestly can't tell, is that a split with the lower half transposed an octave or two up?

I tried doing something like that for ITPOE Part II so I could play lead and strings in that "Unwelcome ones, your time has come" part but my hands ended up playing parts four or five octaves apart. :-p!

  • Thanks you so much for posting.

    Wonderful !!!

  • Yes yes yes!

  • Looking forward to hearing this live in Milwaukee! :D

  • This part gives me goosebumps when it comes in after that Zappa/Yes-ish unison around 2:00. Good stuff Jordan.

  • JORDAN!!!

It would make my year. in my opinion, this is the best DT song you've made with the band!!
