I am one of many storm chaser weather enthusiasts from the canterbury region hoping for an interesting seaGreat video would have loved to chase but was stuck in chch working.
Possibilty of more thunderstorms and hail tomorrow probly not as big although up to 15mm in diamter which is about pebble size
Yeah, it reminds me of when i was on the coast with the tornado a few years ago. I work at Classic Hits / NEwstalk ZB, we get excited cause it's news we can plug... but we feel bad for the farmers as you said.
When I was living in chch for a few months not long ago there was a hail storm and it pilled up like snow everywhere but it was only tiny hail. Not as big as this stuff. But we are getting into the season of thunder and lightning now. So no dobt there will be more hail. :)
It was pretty scary... my poor 7month old son was terrified. The thunder and lightning that came before the hail was extremely bad. They were huge, and when you get damage it's not that wicked.
yea dat happend in the afternoon i was there my um roof thingy 2 the balcony is plastic they got holes in them

I know, insane eh? I feel sorry for anyone that was injured by the hail, or had damage to their property... which i believe is a few people!

Thanks for the feedback! I thought it was good, as did TV3 and TV1... however TV1 did cut ME out... i wonder if they are trying to say something...

What an awsome severe thunderstorm that one turned into not so great for the farmers though.
Last time there was hail of golf ball size was back in 2002 when there was several tornado touch downs.

Only lived in chch for a few months last year.
We live on Seafield road, our cars were parked in the garage thank god.
I think they using bits of my video on the tv3 news tonight.

I'm sorry your son was scared, he ok now???
It was very intense, even for just a minute or so that it was happening...
You can hear the thunder in my second video... and in the third you can see the aftermath from my house, and the fire engine going to an emergency.
