  • dude this is just one nice IROC!, and being turbo, man priceless!

  • i have a mildly built 350 TBI in my car. my car is an RS. 2 years ago i swapped the 305 tbi out for a 350 tbi. i have an edlebrock performer plus cam, l89 heads, bored throttle body, headers, 3" cat back. could a turbo be used on a 350 tbi setup or does this only work for TPI? my car runs pretty good(could always use some more power), but i love the sound of that turbo. a turbo with a big v8 sounds like a small jet engine

  • @ad356 There are some people at Thirdgen.org that have done this with TBI. A couple of things working against you are a relatively low fuel pressure and of course being limited to two injectors. You can go with bigger injectors but there is a limit. Beyond that you would have to do some kind of secondary injectors, in which case it would be probably be cheaper to just convert to a TPI intake and a set of 42lb/hr injectors, which would support over 500 crank hp.

  • good mileage -_- god if there was a bolt on kit :/

  • Looks completely harmless with a turbo tucked away nicely. Nice build.

  • have you had any problems with the block and boosting the engine

    cracks? etc?

and how efficient is the turbo, with that stock engine? can it be run on a 305?

  • @obrauthigam Still running strong over a year later. Now running 13 psi & intercooled, and have been to 15-16 a few times. Eventually the engine will give in, but no signs of blow-by so far. I run a conservative timing curve although lately I've been trying to squeeze a couple more 10ths out of it at the dragstrip. As fast as this turbo spools on the stock 350, I think it would work fine with a 305. Especially a 305 with a little more cam than stock.

  • @obrauthigam so you recommend it? ive seen all these ebay turbos, and they're cheap for the most part.

did you have to tune the engine in any sort of way, any other aftermarket parts? at all?

  • @obrauthigam Well I recommend putting a turbo on anything with a 4 stroke engine so I might be a bit biased. As for tuning, I'm running a Megasquirt ECM so yeah I had to do the whole tune. Engine is 100% stock except for the starter (original died and I went to a LT1 style gear reduction starter), injectors, walbro 255 in-tank pump, MSD 6AL box and of course the megasquirt. Check my site link in the description to see the whole build.

  • @zz3astro thanks alot for your help.. ive decided to turbo my camaro with hopes of it working just as your has...

  • Love sleepers.Chevy guy but I had a 86 stang. The cam had good lift and was roller but it dudn't have alot of duration to give it away but it ran 11.89 till it twisted the body.My fav was my old 4 door 67 Chevelle. In A Camaro the 355 ran 11.42 with with my wore out stock everthing down to the rearend I only ran 12.6 but thats good for that 4 door, the 497hp kinda gave away the fact it was a sleeper that cam humped

  • yea you should make a video of your blow off valve lol... i would like to see it lol...

  • how much was that turbo kit????

  • @wsmikey I bought the original manifold, crossover pipe, downpipe, airbox, wastegate and a 60mm turbo from Ebay around 1998 and it seems like we paid $350. My friend ended up with the kit but never used it, however the turbo and downpipe disappeared over the years. He gave the kit back to me free but between the new turbo and tubing for the downpipe, I have probably $550 in it. Of course then you have to add things like injectors, ecm, heat barriers, MSD, etc into the cost :-)

  • @zz3astro is the T 70 a name brand??

  • @wsmikey Just an Ebay name.. the turbo has a 60mm inducer. When I get around to building the engine and putting some decent heads on it I will go with a Precision Turbo, probably around 72mm depending on clearances. That said, this cheap Ebay turbo has held up great for over 9 months so far.

  • @zz3astro im building a 5.7 for my z28 right now. the 305 that is in it runs pretty good but i would like to get the twin turbo setup but i might get a single turbo for now. how much does a loud blow off valve cost?? i want a loud turbo setup so every one would know lol...

  • @wsmikey Well I can tell you this $20 Ebay one is plenty loud. It's a bit on the small side so it seems to hiss longer than some. I love it though! I need to make a new video just to show some blow-off fun.

  • I always liked those Irocs. Sweet looking. Especially the red ones. Must be the Italian in me.

  • who still uses a radar dectector??!

  • if you lose interest and want to sell it let me know

  • i like its cool. i would like to have a boosted camaro. my buddie is in the process, but with an lt1. i think its kinda funny you said good milage for a batch fire engine though. keep posted.

  • stock internals?

  • @jizzo2009 yes still all stock except for the injectors and ecm. Hopefully upgrading internals this year if I don't lose interest in the project. I have my eyes on a boat though LOL

  • nice project man!
