Foreign-born people living in the United States tend to be more humble, respectful and grateful -- except for the kind of foreign-born people who have lived in America long enough to absorb its culture, and then they become selfish and arrogant. They act like everyone else is their personal slave if they work in a service profession, whether that service is provided by a cashier at a grocery store, a janitor, a computer repairman or a doctor.
I'm going to get really politically incorrect for a moment because this video raises an interesting question. I'm American, I've always lived here, and the only international travel I've done has been going to Canada a few times on vacation. My opinion on Americanism is based on foreign-born friends, co-workers and other acquaintances. Americans have an undeserved sense of entitlement. They whine when things don't go perfectly or when they don't get the money they think they deserve.
Americanism, well lets see... It rhymes with schism I'm Canadian, so it's a little scary, but more silly than anything A wild party, with lots of great people...someone spiked the punch A McDonalds on every street corner! My Car. The ideal of freedom to profit. A meritocracy of money. The embodiment of Max Weber's "Protestant Ethic" Lady Liberty with an STD Freedom is the doctrine of the state
Americanism-Loves consuming but couldn't care less about the worker.
Example- America loves Iphones but doesn't seem to notice the crammed dorms and long hours it takes for workers in China to make an Iphone. I'm not even going to bring up the environmental issues.
Oh, yes. Pinky's a real freedom fighter. God, do I hate communists. Those two cats should've been around when Joseph McCarthy was going commie hunting. As reckless and cruel as he was, some of the people he went after really were Reds. Like you guys! Stupid cats. 'Commie subversives' doesn't even begin to describe it.
So you believe the persecution of a large amount of innocent people, creating an atmosphere of fear & distrust, the loss of freedom & liberty, & the destruction of the principles this country was founded upon a preferable thing to a couple communists? Is your belief system so fragile that communists become so scary to you that you prefer fascist police states? If your politics are so fragile then they are wrong. Do you even know anything about communism besides sound bites of emotional disdain?
I'm not a communist, and I'm not old. I'm also not crazy, and it is impossible for me to be still living in the 1960's since I wasn't around at the time.
Americanism is the way media, social order, money, and many other things influence the way us as Americans and other people around the world think and act.
Why is this video flagged? I am glad to see others have noticed this issue also? Why are there so many false flagged videos on youtube? Youtube really needs to pay a lot more attention to the flagging abuse that happens. It is more of a problem than real inappropriate content is.
YouTube couldn't care less about false flags. Ever since it was bought out by Google all they care about is their advertising and bending to every whim of Sony and Viacom.
The thing is Americanism effects the ways other nations and people act as well. The issue is part of all nation, all people, all of humanity. We as people need to rethink our place in the word. It's not necessarily Americanism but Humanism.
1.hypocracy What Democracy turns into when all of the politicians in your country are liars. When no party/President that wins the election manages to keep its/his own ideology, and instead, keeps changing it every time it/he feels like it, that's no democracy. That's hypocracy.
2.hypocracy A democracy governed by hypocrites. The British government advocates moral standards to which it does not conform.
oh, btw where do you hear Pinky ever mention communism? Why do you have the belief that because Pinky questions things that it must be communism. Last I remember the most patriotic thing you could do is question your government and the policies it makes. Isn't that how we became a country?
One for you, sir, very good. Questioning things is very important, and I was in no way praising what Joseph McCarthy did. He wasn't truly an idealistic crusader seeking to rid America of communists, anyway- his efforts were crude, clumsy, cruel, and largely motivated by a desire for personal gain. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what exactly it is I don't like about Pinky, but I am very sure I don't like (him? her? it?).
The Spirit of PInky is thoughtful, considerate, deep, compassionate, fair, intellectual, well informed/educated, realistic, integral and tells it like it is with fearlessness and conviction albeit just a little kitty! So friend my reflection or question to you is what says this about you that these lofty qualities do not only not jive with you but you state you disslike,? What would you say are your personal qualities if I may ask of yourself. Interesting consideration to ruminate upon.
Right. Go on admiring this bloody cat with a kind of awe that few gave to Patton, Douglas MacArthur, or even God himself. I have better things to do, so I am done here. That dumbhead thing about the elephant(?) was enough for me. I'm done with this blasted cat, bye now.
if you don't know why you dislike something it could be because you have not taken the time to properly consider it and are acting automatically based on your "programming". BTW capitalism based on growth economies is unsustainable. another fact you may find distasteful.
Here Here! particularly when it looks like from my research, ie Charlotte Iserbyte, Dr John Coleman, David Icke, Russian History, German & Italian history it would seem "they" have been pushing us to that very thing for a 100 yrs now. Glad to see someone's eye's are still open & thr mind capable of critical thinking still! IT only takes a few to wake up the masses, The 100th Monkey, The tipping point, Critical Mass, keep learning keep pushing the envelope for TRUTH, we are nearly there, keep on
The war in iraq isn't over oil, directly, it is about selling US national debt. Denominating Iraqi oil in US dollars and forcing the sale of US debt with it, which is what Saddam refused to do. Yes, it is about corporate greed too, but really, the bottom line, it's about globalization. The middle east, the final frontier, to go where no globalism has gone before.
There is no North American oil shortage. Who's going buy US debt if if all the oil is produced from North America.
Why would the US attack a country because of the claim of "weapons of mass destruction", when it was the US that sold it to them in the first place? What kind of intelligence is that? Pun intended. Concerning the constitution, compared to the whole world and in the context of all history do Americans have any idea what they have? Or had? Is the pledge of allegiance your commitment to the government. -binding to you? And the constitution a document binding to government?
Trade agreements compromise US and other nations sovereignty. Everybody, already has has free trade, just have to strike a deal, countries should have the right to charge tariffs, thats why they are a country, they are responsible for their people! The world scale of trade agreements will reduce the standard of living for Americans, how do you compete against the slave labor of other nations? Why is there trade with countries that are without a just level of human rights? why, why why...
And Americans don't even know the half of it! Unaccountable private agencies, fabrication of intelligence, US foreign enemies holding the bonds from the federal reserve, homeland security?, one of the most significant crime scenes in American history and evidence shipped off to China ASAP, JFK, US the biggest manufacturer of biological weapons, that is a crime against me, that is a crime against humanity, I don't care if everybody else is doing it! I thought that Americans were the good guys!
There have been incredible negative actions made by the US which has been shaping everyone's perception. Such as: The illegal war against Iraq, direct lies to the american people to facilitate its own agenda, gross financial miss management, the elimination of habeas corpus, the legalized mafia known as the IRS, the federal reserve banking system, water-boarding, torture, real property rights, the assassination of...well, too numerous to mention...Are you kidding me? and Americans
I really don't want to get into an argument over this, but when someone makes...let's see...12! comments on a YouTube video...that's almost spamming.
But anyway...two points. One here, with the "illegal war against Iraq." I love that. It's war; and whether or not the leaders of our country told us the real reasons for going to war is irrelevant. We massacred thousands of people to build our country; what's a few thousand more to keep it running?
The other one was in the same post, oy. Waterboarding and torture.
I don't know the methods of "torture" used by our armed forces today, but I guarantee they pale in comparison to ancient methods. Prying up fingernails, pulling the tortured apart from all limbs...those were real methods of torture. And you know what? They ensured that the country/city/king/whatever was safe.
Experts have also said that torture doesn't work. That people will say anything. Besides it's something the "bad guys do". It changes how the world looks at America. It's not good. Sure there are various degrees of pain, various degrees of torture. Still torture though.
The US government did claim to have benefitted from it. But, it would be naive to believe anything the American government says.
Isn't it easier and better to win the hearts people than to control them?
We tried to win the hearts of people in the same region by aiding them when the Russians were invading. Now, a couple of decades later, we have to return, in effect to clean up the mess we made.
Personally, I feel we should either keep to ourselves, and stop trying to "help" the rest of the world, or just drop the pretense of help and return to conquest and expansion. I'm sure Russia, China, and now India would love to get in on that action.
Sorry to run on like that. I kept going 'cause this comment section didn't seam too active and didn't think anyone would mind. I was trying to foster some wholesome American self examination.
RE:... a few thousand more to keep it running? i suppose your being sarcastic. Well, the total count is around about million dead now in Iraq, isn't that enough? Ironicly, that is more than all the deaths in all wars combined who died from biological weapons.
That first comment was in reference to the Native Americans that we killed to build and expand our country in the first place.
I don't remember what my point was, even though it wasn't that long ago I posted.
What I do know, though, is that our nation, from the very "discovery" of the land by Spain, is based on conquest and death. If we want to maintain our way of life, logistically the best way to do so is through continued conquest and death.
Nope. The US was considered heros at the time of victory by the Iraqi people. Establishing order right away and presenting them with an equivalent constitution and such would have made an open door relationship with Iraq. My point is made in the film "No End In Sight". Check it out. Rumsfeld should not of disbanded the Iraqi military but used them to bring stability. There were no insurgencies, at victory, not like what was to follow. It would have saved lives on both sides.
American-ISM, seems to have a negative connotation to it. But maybe that is just from my own present perception of America, which has changed dramatically for the worse. Ultimately, isn't a man defined by his actions, regardless what he looks like or what he says? So, what have been the actions of the US? On the face of it, what does the US look like? What has the US been saying? And, are there recognizable contrasts to the answers to these last 3 questions?
Could Americanism be the common collected ideals or rights of Americans as a goal to obtain, something to hang on to, or a place to return to? Does the government have these same ideals? Is the government to serve the public? Are the public servants suppose to serve the public? What is Americanism if the people are government servants and the government serve themselves?
What was the distinctive system of the beliefs, doctrine or theory that actually guided the founders of America? What did they do?And what is the distinctive system of beliefs, doctrine or theory that actually guides the present American government and institutions? And what are they doing?
Americanism can be good or bad. It depends on what America is. Is America Good? or is America bad?
Well, in my opinion, historically, at one time America or Americanism was recognized with honor and admiration as good. That is just my opinion but is there any actual evidence of a good world view of americanism, well....
How about the Statue of Liberty. A gift from France. The washington monument had many international contributors.
Americanism, what a good and challenging question. By expanding on the question, maybe we can find an answer.
From Wikipedia, the suffix -ism denotes a distinctive system of beliefs, myth, doctrine or theory that guides a social movement, institution, class or group.
So what is the distinctive system of American beliefs, doctrine or theory that actually guides America?
Hhmm, this question may too difficult to answer because it would risk becoming a generalization.
Also, understanding the context in which Malcolm x uses the word Americanism may help what he actually meant.
Every American when asked may have a different answer, but with common similarities, another generalization.
Asking others around the world may provide us with an idea of a world view of Americanism. Maybe the answer depends on who we ask? Also, what have been the actions or movements of society, its institutions, classes or groups in the past. What are they doing now?
A viewer of this video will encounter the message "This video may not be suitable for minors". Why??? There is absolutely nothing in this video that warrants this message, other than it encourages one to think independently. God forbid that our children should receive a message like this!
Hello, Pinky, I love your work. I kind of think you've probably already seen this, but usually when I think of "Americanism", I think of a BBC mini series call "the power of nightmares; the rise in the politics of fear". Americanism is portrayed here as a myth to inspire and control people by saying we are the great goodness in the world, and we are destined to spread our grandness with everyone we can by whatever means nessicery. BTW if you find exception this series, I would love to hear why.
To me americanism is to a large degree the following:
Beeing controlled by hoodlums self referring to as jews. In reality these are atheistic, fascisitic murderers and thieves.
The US people-not bad by nature- got hijacked. What you call americanism is indeed exploited -triggered to the extreme-nationalism channeled into directions serving another social group.
The inability to point this out, combined with an enourmous degree of retardiation and ignorance finally destroys the US.
That is a very easy question pinky..to know what is Americanism you would have to get out of the US and experience the following:Afghanistanism, Albanianism, Algerianism, Andorranism, Angolanism..(all countries missing go here)...Yemenism, Zambianism, Zimbabwenism, and Taiwanism...and then after you do that and you realize that the concept of nation state is close to ignorance then one can authoritatively talk about Americanism.

Better than being a jungle monkey in africa. Blacks should be thankful for the life we gave them after slavery. Nigger will still be slinging crap at each other and being eaten by lions if we haven't enslave them. Ungrateful niggers.
Guess what? Your leader is black, I'm glad that you have to wake up every morning to that fact! The south has died and will not rise again; they are just spinning in their graves!
Trias Wow. There are assholes like you still left in America? If you don't like what you call " jungle monkeys" and "ungrateful n----rs", then why don't you move to a nice "white" land? Like Siberia? You're proof that my tax dollars on education have been wasted.
"I am not an American I am a victim of Americanism"....Was that before he went to Mecca and had a complete change of heart regarding race and was murdered by other American muslims.....Comments please....You don't hate America, you hate yourself.
My widget dictionary says americanism is a word or phrase peculiar to the origination of America, but I know it is much more complicated then this. I think that americanism is the opinion of the people that is projected on them through America. I also think americanism could also be a general summary of America that tells about America's political situation, economy, ect.
americanism is elitist class privilege... americanism is social degradation. americanism is distortion, assimilation and repressive conformity. americanism is blind patriotism. americanism is walmart.. americanism is a commodity americanism is mechanical and systematic americanism is thinking capitalism and democracy are the same thing. americanism is a bacon encased cheese coated meatloaf..O.o O.O o.O americanism is embarrassing.
The term "Americanism" is a propaganda tool for labeling anyone who disagrees with or questions a certain ideology or power structure as an evil person/group who's trying to hurt "us, the nice people who love this country (blindly, which means we don't rock the boat)".
Hmmm ... Americanism .... I'm not American and I don't live there and from "out here" Americanism looks kind of like a certain blindness to the realities of others, as if only the American way is valid. BUT! I do like the idea that has come from America that "if you can imagine it, you can create it." How about we all imagine a just, peaceful and tolerant world? Someone sent a spaceship to Mars which sends back thousands of photos. How difficult could it be to create a just and peaceful world?
Please delete the comment below, i'm new in this you-tube-part-of thing. I think you already have that question answered in plenty of movies, songs, books, etc.
In my opinion, u should see Woody Allen's "Sleeper", it kind of new version "Idiocracy", n read Jim Morrison's "An American Prayer", or Kurt Cobain lyrics, Janis Jopplin, n many others that got "accidentaly overdossed".
The problem with drugs, the police excess, n the fact that most of u don't know ior civil rights has already dissappeared. If the government "thinks u might be involved in some eventual terrorism act", ior life's just fucked up, coz they can legaly torture u.
WAKE UP PPL!! it's time for a change. Please download Zeitgeist, n Zeitgeist Addendum...it might help u to understand some of what we're all goin through. Thenks 4 doin all those little "human duty calls" n spreading knowledge.
There's a detail I would like u to study...the % of Intelectual brutality u're suffering as a country...really, there're some frightening documentals from NatGeo. This..might be intentional? I mean, course you're going to support wars if u don't know where in the world are the bombs fallin (most, on countries that reaaally coul't do u no harm even if they wanted to).
Americanism is a fascist ideology. Much like national socialism, its racist, and ethnocentric, it supports obedience as opposed to liberty, and servility as opposed to freedom. It supports an oligarchy, and is extremely anti-union, anti-socialist, anti-communist, anti-anarchist, anti-intellectual, and anti-religious outside of Judeo-Christendom. Yeah its fascism, and might look something like Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York
My idea of an americanism is a figure of speech or a phrase invented by a proud patriotic american ie. Hooh Rah, Ladies and Gentlemen we Got Him, FYI, My Bad, errrrr yeh that's all I got.

Americanism gives you the right to spew your liberal "pinko" crap. I've watched many of your videos and you are a left wing spineless liberal bizarro. Why would you quote a racist bastard like Malcom X? Yes, there are many problems here in this country, but you should be thankful you live in a country that allows you to spew your crap. Go to Crapistan and try spewing your crap.
How interesting. I use my free expression rights to comment and my remarks are marked as spam and called a racist. When an overt self admitting racist like Malcom X is quoted, and I challenge it, I'm immediately called a racist. Another overly used liberal tatic. Wow, liberal censorship at its best!! Free speech is ok, as long as it fits the liberal agenda, otherwise it is censored.
yeah seriously, this is flagged because of 2 secends of a girl with a little large breats. but you can find a lot of videos full of swimsuit models and such like that...that isnt flagged. wtf?
Americanism is the thought of living in a country that is the #1 in the World and liking it, respecting it, working for it, inspiring it, and later discovering that it is not in the top 10 in the World.
Americanism is the thinly veiled desire for global socialism. We are victims of Americanism because we have been conditioned so deeply the American is the BEST... that we don't question BEST for who? Best for the citizens of America and our global community, Or BEST for the HUGE Corps, Inc, and Co s who are working very hard to dissolve American sovereignty. Americanism is NOT following the money trail to see who benefits from disaster capitalism that is so prevalent in the world today.

americanism is not.... cause we ca compare that to all other situations like that who appears by the past!! I mean its an impression like the nazzism in the 40 s but..... the nazzis have been kicked to the ass cause they make in invasion war with allies by the terror !!! WE WILL PASS TROUGHT THAT IM SURE!! GOD BLESS AMERICAN S AND THERES POWERFULL ALLIES LIKE CANADA !!!OUA!!
Americanism here is not intended to a specific race/color/rel..
Americanism is what our government shaped us into over the last 63 years.
we all live under the american laws and rights, not true? so we all fall under the american style and/or term..which leading such life allows others to call you ''Americanism''
It's who you are on the inside and what morals you keep..if americanism was aword then i am personism!
Well, if you've listened to the Malcolm X speech that was referenced, "ballot or the bullet" then you will know what i was talking about. As the pinky asserted, Malcolm's quote was: "I'm not an american, i'm one of the 22 million black victims of americanism."
Americanism is an -ism of oppresion. For all so-called foreign and domestic non-whites, americanism is being collective victims of white supremacy. For whites, americanism is classism, whereby all whites have power, not more money, but Power (two different things) over non-whites, and whites are subject to a classist system. White supremacy and classism are DEEPLY entrenched in all of the institutions, which benefit the ideas, ultimately, of the master class.
This is a very silly question, because you are asking the general public to define a word that was coined by a specific person. All anyone could do is speculate as to what Malcolm X actually meant by "Americanism."
Clearly, Malcolm X meant the word to be derogatory toward American culture in some way, though. But, I suppose any nation which possesses a strong identity could subsequently become an "ism." Russianism, Japanism, Chinaism, Asianism, Europeanism, and so on.
What is "american culture"? Culture is nothing but what you do at the time that you're doing it. At the time that i'm "watching" youtube videos, i'm apart of the youtube "watching" culture, at the time that i'm commenting on videos, i'm no longer a part of the youtube watching culture, but a part of the youtube "commenting" culture. Same as anything else. Logically, the term "american culture" makes no sense. In fact "american culture" is extremely subjective. To a non-white person...
...american culture could be racist, as non-whites are always, directly or indirectly subject to white supremacy. So-called american culture could be to eat "Big Mac and fries." However, if i were on the moon and eating big macs and fries, would i be practicing american culture. No. I would be practicing martian, big mac and fry-eating culture. Culture is nothing but what you do at the time that you're doing it. But academia makes people think that there's something special about "culture."

americanism: thinking that you are special and unique but in fact you aren't. due to the intoctrination of your culture: media showing only the things you want to see or a government that is lying in your face so you become blind for the things that are so obviousy wrong, in your country and the world...
I could write a book about what americanism could be but that is perhaps because I'm european and I see the things different than americans
I am from Spain and I live in the U.S. the people here think that only americans and europeans(not including spain, italy, and portugal) and canada are whites, and that hispanic, eskimo, african american, etc are actual races. The U.S. is possibly the most racist countyr on this planet. They are extremely "patriotic" continued on another comment.
continued reply: They are cruel beyond belief(most of them) and think they are superior to everyone. They continue stereotyping the world's population and do not like the idea of those who are different(by race, religion, etc) to have the same freedoms that they have even if they do live in this country. I find that the people in america need to be educated on how to treat people and on how to behave.
Why be so gentle? Americans also kill and eat babies, usually African babies, but Arab and Asian babies too. Also only white Americans are real Americans, as demonstrated by their latest presidential election. Moreover, the Cold War was an American conspiracy contrived for the purpose of causing nuclear war; only the brave and noble Soviet Union saved us all.
What else? Hmmm...Americans are cruel beyond belief(all of them) and they have the most diverse country in the world (oops ignore that)
Also, Americans really need to learn how to act by copying Spain. That way Americans can learn how to throw bananas at black athletes.
And as Talim said, Americans need to stop stereotyping, because stereotyping is stupid. And all Americans are stupid, ignorant, violent, uneducated, fat, illiterate, cruel, barbaric, and homogenous in race, religion, beliefs, and ideals.
They are also the most racist people in the world, whereas Spain has elected LOTS of minority officials and leaders!
Americanism is unrepentant, murderous greed wrapped in a cloak of denial and presumption. Americanism seems to me to be the craven betrayal of the principles established at its genesis, the spoilage of a noble experiment in social and political organization. It would have been great to see what the American Republic might have become had the Constitution actually been valued and respected. Americanism is 'manifest destiny' driven disregard for lives other than the elite.
I think "Americanism" is the ability to feel morally correct in all circumstances, while those around you commit the most immoral acts without care. I feel sometimes that everybody around me is in his or her own little bubble, and that bubble distorts his or her ability to see the world correctly. If the world isnt encroaching on his or her bubble then why worry about it.
This is the reason the poor arent helped more often, third world countries are forgotten about until he or she sees a commercial on TV, and everybody believes he or she isnt racist. Because in their own bubble the world is fine!
americanism to me is divide and conquer to have the federal propaganda machine to what ever they can to keep racial tensions as tight as possible the media are Hippocrates they denounce other countries ethnic cleansing while all the time trying to justify who and what we are doing in the world and here at home, so i see americanism as sheep or cattle being led to the slaughter with big dumbfounded smiles on their medicated faces
I am a citizen born here in America. All the men in my family served in the second World War & in Korea. I have an Honorable Discharge from the USN. But I am still called a f@#$%ing Wet-Back by my White-skinned Compatriots.
What would make that shit totally ironic is if they were Irish. Look at the portrayals of the Irish from the early 1800's to about the mid 1930's. Simian, slope foreheaded, gremlinlike. And if they were Italian?!?!?! Dear Gods please! To this day, one can't have an Italian surname without being asked "is the 'Soprano's' accurate?" Sad, we are ALL different and I happen to like that. Who needs clones?
Malcolm X was talking about the hypocrisy of America. The America that can say that they're the strongest element keeping together a semblance of world peace but is actually the greatest threat to it.
Why do I get a warning, this clip isn't suited for minors? The 2 seconds of a rather generous cleavage? Part of an campaign, to annoy the "anti-american, liberal" cat? Can younger people be harmed with just the suggestion of some reflective, maybe even sceptical views of "gods own country"?
What ever it is, it must be part of this ominous "americanism".
wow, i thought at least one comment on the first page would be from a thoughtful person--or at least someone who had seen other pinky episodes. i'm a woodworker, a blue collar schmuck like the rest of you sound. the difference here is about who listens and who talks. "Americanism," in my opinion, has taught all of us to talk more and listen less...and buy shit that we don't need to distract us from what we're not really supposed to listen to. think for yourselves even if you don't agree.

"Americanism" is the distruction of choice and freedom and a move towerds nationalism, which is a socialist mentality, not a free or democratic mentality. All U.S. citizens should stay critical towerds all goverment, it is dumb to blindly follow anyone. every boss will make a mistake , every CEO will make a mistake and yes every President will make a mistake. Get it people.
In this country we have someting that no other country has going for it and its not what u think. No it's not being patriotic. "Its having the choice to be patriotic". As a former marine soldier. I choosed to fight for a country, I wasent forced! Get it? In other words Just as a "green beret" said on tv "I dont mind people being agianst the war, that is freedom, that is what I fight for." , for us to have a choice to like our goverment and policies or not.
Americanism is the idea that you are better than anyone that doesn't fit the American image.

I know this vid is really old, (but I just "discovered" the Pinkie show ; ).
To me, Americanism is the government substitution of "Rights" with "Privelegues" as described in Michael Badnariks excellent lecture.
my_playlists?p=1AEE308043BAE445
In short: Citizens of states have Rights, but US Citizens have Privilegues.
Would be interesting to see a follow-up on this one though. :)

Americanism = Hypocracy
mateodesanjo 2 years ago 3
You can't even spell hypocrisy right, moron.
Jurassic0Al 2 years ago
1.hypocracy What Democracy turns into when all of the politicians in your country are liars. When no party/President that wins the election manages to keep its/his own ideology, and instead, keeps changing it every time it/he feels like it, that's no democracy. That's hypocracy.
2.hypocracy A democracy governed by hypocrites. The British government advocates moral standards to which it does not conform.
mateodesanjo 2 years ago
oh, btw where do you hear Pinky ever mention communism? Why do you have the belief that because Pinky questions things that it must be communism. Last I remember the most patriotic thing you could do is question your government and the policies it makes. Isn't that how we became a country?
illyounotme 2 years ago
One for you, sir, very good. Questioning things is very important, and I was in no way praising what Joseph McCarthy did. He wasn't truly an idealistic crusader seeking to rid America of communists, anyway- his efforts were crude, clumsy, cruel, and largely motivated by a desire for personal gain. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what exactly it is I don't like about Pinky, but I am very sure I don't like (him? her? it?).

The RiddleEnigma,
The war in iraq isn't over oil, directly, it is about selling US national debt.
Nolen229 2 years ago

Nolen229 2 years ago
And Americans don't even know the half of it! Unaccountable private agencies, fabrication of intelligence, US foreign enemies holding the bonds from the federal reserve, homeland security?, one of the most significant crime scenes in American history and evidence shipped off to China ASAP, JFK, US the biggest manufacturer of biological weapons, that is a crime against me, that is a crime against humanity, I don't care if everybody else is doing it! I thought that Americans were the good guys!
Nolen229 2 years ago
There have been incredible negative actions made by the US which has been shaping everyone's perception. Such as: The illegal war against Iraq, direct lies to the american people to facilitate its own agenda, gross financial miss management, the elimination of habeas corpus, the legalized mafia known as the IRS, the federal reserve banking system, water-boarding, torture, real property rights, the assassination of...well, too numerous to mention...Are you kidding me? and Americans
Nolen229 2 years ago
I really don't want to get into an argument over this, but when someone makes...let's see...12! comments on a YouTube video...that's almost spamming.
But anyway...two points. One here, with the "illegal war against Iraq." I love that. It's war; and whether or not the leaders of our country told us the real reasons for going to war is irrelevant. We massacred thousands of people to build our country; what's a few thousand more to keep it running?
TheRiddleEnigma 2 years ago
The other one was in the same post, oy. Waterboarding and torture.
I don't know the methods of "torture" used by our armed forces today, but I guarantee they pale in comparison to ancient methods. Prying up fingernails, pulling the tortured apart from all limbs...those were real methods of torture. And you know what? They ensured that the country/city/king/whatever was safe.
TheRiddleEnigma 2 years ago
TheRiddleEnigma,
Experts have also said that torture doesn't work.
Nolen229 2 years ago
We tried to win the hearts of people in the same region by aiding them when the Russians were invading. Now, a couple of decades later, we have to return, in effect to clean up the mess we made.
Personally, I feel we should either keep to ourselves, and stop trying to "help" the rest of the world, or just drop the pretense of help and return to conquest and expansion. I'm sure Russia, China, and now India would love to get in on that action.
TheRiddleEnigma 2 years ago
Hi TheRiddleEnigma,
Sorry to run on like that.
Nolen229 2 years ago
I was being sarcastic, in part anyway.
TheRiddleEnigma 2 years ago
Nolen229 2 years ago
American-ISM, seems to have a negative connotation to it. But maybe that is just from my own present perception of America, which has changed dramatically for the worse. Ultimately, isn't a man defined by his actions, regardless what he looks like or what he says? So, what have been the actions of the US? On the face of it, what does the US look like? What has the US been saying? And, are there recognizable contrasts to the answers to these last 3 questions?
Nolen229 2 years ago
Could Americanism be the common collected ideals or rights of Americans as a goal to obtain, something to hang on to, or a place to return to? Does the government have these same ideals? Is the government to serve the public? Are the public servants suppose to serve the public? What is Americanism if the people are government servants and the government serve themselves?
Nolen229 2 years ago
What was the distinctive system of the beliefs, doctrine or theory that actually guided the founders of America? What did they do?And what is the distinctive system of beliefs, doctrine or theory that actually guides the present American government and institutions? And what are they doing?
Nolen229 2 years ago
Americanism can be good or bad. It depends on what America is. Is America Good? or is America bad?
Well, in my opinion, historically, at one time America or Americanism was recognized with honor and admiration as good. That is just my opinion but is there any actual evidence of a good world view of americanism, well....
How about the Statue of Liberty. A gift from France. The washington monument had many international contributors.
Maybe there are others.
Nolen229 2 years ago
Americanism, what a good and challenging question. By expanding on the question, maybe we can find an answer.
From Wikipedia, the suffix -ism denotes a distinctive system of beliefs, myth, doctrine or theory that guides a social movement, institution, class or group.
So what is the distinctive system of American beliefs, doctrine or theory that actually guides America?
Hhmm, this question may too difficult to answer because it would risk becoming a generalization.
Nolen229 2 years ago
Also, understanding the context in which Malcolm x uses the word Americanism may help what he actually meant.
Every American when asked may have a different answer, but with common similarities, another generalization.
Asking others around the world may provide us with an idea of a world view of Americanism. Maybe the answer depends on who we ask? Also, what have been the actions or movements of society, its institutions, classes or groups in the past. What are they doing now?
Nolen229 2 years ago

I find that the people in america need to be educated on how to treat people and on how to behave.
talim1818188 3 years ago
Why be so gentle? Americans also kill and eat babies, usually African babies, but Arab and Asian babies too. Also only white Americans are real Americans, as demonstrated by their latest presidential election. Moreover, the Cold War was an American conspiracy contrived for the purpose of causing nuclear war; only the brave and noble Soviet Union saved us all.
What else? Hmmm...Americans are cruel beyond belief(all of them) and they have the most diverse country in the world (oops ignore that)
SirSabin 3 years ago

Americanism=Calvinism.....on steroids. Any questions?
Plutonwolf 3 years ago
I would say, Americanism = Calvinism married to Epicureanism. Which is to say, bad theology married to bad philosophy.

USxxUnitedxx 3 years ago
This is the reason the poor arent helped more often, third world countries are forgotten about until he or she sees a commercial on TV, and everybody believes he or she isnt racist. Because in their own bubble the world is fine!
USxxUnitedxx 3 years ago
americanism to me is divide and conquer to have the federal propaganda machine to what ever they can to keep racial tensions as tight as possible the media are Hippocrates they denounce other countries ethnic cleansing while all the time trying to justify who and what we are doing in the world and here at home, so i see americanism as sheep or cattle being led to the slaughter with big dumbfounded smiles on their medicated faces

I'll make this simple.
Americanism in one word. . . Capitailism.

wow, i thought at least one comment on the first page would be from a thoughtful person--or at least someone who had seen other pinky episodes. i'm a woodworker, a blue collar schmuck like the rest of you sound. the difference here is about who listens and who talks. "Americanism," in my opinion, has taught all of us to talk more and listen less...and buy shit that we don't need to distract us from what we're not really supposed to listen to. think for yourselves even if you don't agree.
