When you get down to equal specs, there's no comparison. I can get below that $700 mark easily. It all depends on what's going in it.

The problem comes from the enormous price tag which is unjustifiable to anyone with a shred of technical expertise, and the arrogance of Apple to proclaim their machines as "better, faster, and more durable." There's a reason why Apple benchmarks Macs against other Macs. Do you ever notice this? Never do they pit their machines against comparable PCs, because they know the end result.
Guys guys, why must we fight about this? We know that PCs are better for gaming, because, after all, if you're a gamer you want to be able to customize your computer. Windows also runs some office software vital to the workspace. Macs are perfect for the user who needs music, basic work functions (word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows, etc...), music, videos, and photos, but doesn't really want to do serious gaming. I think we can all agree on this. (I left out viruses for obvious reasons).
These days, gaming is a distant second when it comes to computers. The sheer necessity of wider pipelines for video editing, visual effects and 3D animation, even music production dictates the need for more powerful computers. In this area, a PC still dominates both in quality and cost effectiveness over a Mac, which uses lower-grade hardware components to maximize profit on each unit sold. The 12-Core Mac Pro may look mighty, but it's a squirrel compared to PC technology.
Now, I´ve been thinking, and I think its RIDICULOUS to judge people by their COMPUTERS! I don´t know what you people may think, but isn´t there ALREADY enough PROBLEMS without nerdy fights?

@FireSqy I don't know why, but a media player made by a specific company (say Apple and Microsoft) works best on computers running the software made by the same makers. itunes does work pretty well on Macs (which is why so many people love it more than anything else) but runs like shit on PC's. Zune player on the other hand, works great on PC's but won't even be allowed to run on Macs to avoid compatibility problems. All in all, PC's AND Macs are great to use for all music lovers.

@rastoper I know Macs can get virus's but i have windows running on my mac and it got a virus within the first week of me running it and half a year on i haven't seen any on the mac so they are definitely far less frequent. The Os itself is faster on a mac, i know that, and in tests on gadget shows the low end macs seem to beat the higher end PCs and it is the computer of choice for the movie, design, music etc. industries which are the ones that need power the most. I dunno, just my experience!

PC's and Linuxes are the good kinds of computers. PCs are for gamming, buisness, making videos/movies, editing photos/pictures, making/editing music and working. Linuxes are for buisness, security, some gamming, buisness and simplicity. Macs are for crashing, editing movies and then having them deleted when they crash, getting viruses that you can't detect and then crash, work awful and limited gamming.

I don't pay for a computer on how it looks. So I don't buy macs.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a Mac. The problem comes from the enormous price tag which is unjustifiable to anyone with a shred of technical expertise, and the arrogance of Apple to proclaim their machines as "better, faster, and more durable." There's a reason why Apple benchmarks Macs against other Macs. Do you ever notice this? Never do they pit their machines against comparable PCs, because they know the end result.

Guys guys, why must we fight about this? We know that PCs are better for gaming, because, after all, if you're a gamer you want to be able to customize your computer. Windows also runs some office software vital to the workspace. Macs are perfect for the user who needs music, basic work functions (word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows, etc...), music, videos, and photos, but doesn't really want to do serious gaming. I think we can all agree on this. (I left out viruses for obvious reasons).

@FireSqy I don't know why, but a media player made by a specific company (say Apple and Microsoft) works best on computers running the software made by the same makers. itunes does work pretty well on Macs (which is why so many people love it more than anything else) but runs like shit on PC's. Zune player on the other hand, works great on PC's but won't even be allowed to run on Macs to avoid compatibility problems. All in all, PC's AND Macs are great to use for all music lovers.

@manishrana51 well UNIX based MAC OS that runs on Intel cpus actually is pretty new i will tell u the history lol around 1975 IBM came out with a computer that could be put on a desk (unlike the old huge computers often called closet computers) it could run basic tasks so from here started the name personal computer(PC) one year later steve jobs came out with the Apple I computer which was also a personal computer and at that time software was basically just a command line so there was no OS

@xXJeReMiAhXx99 now intel had made a commercial microprocessor back in 1971 but it dident really catch on until PCs began to become more widely used many years later. a early starter and competitor was AMD but intel was more aggressive and always managed to stay ahead as the main processor company but anyway later in 1984 apple came out with it's mac OS that would run on a different type of processor(still a microprocessor but made by powerpc not by the majors intel and amd)

@xXJeReMiAhXx99 the first mac os was actually the 4th piece of software from apple to run on a personnal computer it was called system 4 it was advertised as easy to use sence it was a interface not a command line even tho it had it's problams like only being able to run 1 processes at a time there was also a seperation seen between it and other pcs cus it ran on powerpc not on the dominant intel after that system 5 came which allowed multitasking but with it brought a host of errors and slows

@xXJeReMiAhXx99 so at that time (2006) windows xp was showing some age it lacked a couple of features and was less graphically appealing than the new Mac OS so obviously that was good for apple than 1 year later in 2007 windows came out with Vista it was considered sort of a buggy rushed slow OS by alot of people especially ones trying to run it on hardware from around the year 2000 microsoft quickly got working on a service pack to improve the major problems and so SP 1 came out quickly

Respond to this video... windows have active directory (Google it take to much room to explain) which more powerful than anything that mac or Linux has that similar and AD give greater control . So for working and business windows make more sense studying on a pc make more sense as what you’re going to use in the real world in sort mac are for dicking around with pc are when you need to get something done Shure uses more resource but doing a hell of lot more under the hood than in a mac etc

@rastoper I know Macs can get virus's but i have windows running on my mac and it got a virus within the first week of me running it and half a year on i haven't seen any on the mac so they are definitely far less frequent. The Os itself is faster on a mac, i know that, and in tests on gadget shows the low end macs seem to beat the higher end PCs and it is the computer of choice for the movie, design, music etc. industries which are the ones that need power the most. I dunno, just my experience!

PC's and Linuxes are the good kinds of computers. PCs are for gamming, buisness, making videos/movies, editing photos/pictures, making/editing music and working. Linuxes are for buisness, security, some gamming, buisness and simplicity. Macs are for crashing, editing movies and then having them deleted when they crash, getting viruses that you can't detect and then crash, work awful and limited gamming.

@ItsNowProductionsi used a mac and it was crashing all the time program freezing far more time than 98(the os that most mac users still base the augments on ) xp etc they plenty of viruses out there and the "you aren't stupid or a pirate " go for pc as well and i know that mac got the fake anti-virus virus not long and that was from visiting normal websites I know as I'm a tech and had to clean it up a few times it harder to clen up on a mac without doing os reinstall
