A very nice instructional video with a working camera person, rather than camera being stuck on a tripod from "miles" away, as is the usual unfortunately in most of these demos. But this was a good one;D
1. Depending on how commited the attacker was to the initial attack, techniques as shown in the video would make it very difficult to let go at all or in time before a thumb or wrist joint was broken. 2. The vast majority of techniques in Aikido, including the ones above, do not require strength. If any physical attribute helps a lot, it is self-balance, speed and agility in that order. 3. This is Yoshinkan Aikido - most structured of all aikido styles and highly recommended.
Kyoichi Inoue Kancho is a former woman police force instructor, well, at least then we know that he's much more gentle than Shioda Kancho, those techniques are painful, really, if u dont believe, then go get a "gi" and enroll in a dojo, at 1st u'll cry like a baby, and end up as a masochistfor enjoying every bit of the pain, LOL
it has to do with how hard the opponent is putting his energy into your wrist. if he is holding tight and his ki...or intention is all in the wrist he will fall.
Aikido is a martial art that unbalances an opponent very quickly and aims to subdue through the use of a pin of some description, or with the defender balanced ready for another attack.
As such, the attacker needs to roll out of the technique to avoid injury. If they don't roll out they risk serious injury including dislocation of a joint, breaking a limb or being knocked out. I have been knocked out when not rolling properly in Judo.
Very nice. Thank you.

actually he's placing his hand in such a manner that he cant let go anymore.
if your wrist is turned like that, you cant move your fingers freely anymore.

In Aikido you're also trained to evade or lessen the pain of aikido moves. You're also trained to break your fall so there will be less impact.

haha..thankuu...
but if i were him, i'd just relieve my arm grasping to lessen the sensi impact.
