  • I can't believe there are no owners of Pangborn basses on YouTube. Why? I, and I'm sure many people, would love to hear them. Does anyone have any info on the electronics and pickups used on them because they sound so sweet and unique. I want one!!!!

  • One can see he was just starting to feel his full power as a bassist. This video makes me want my own time machine

  • Oops! Note wrong and funny glance. Well that proves he actually is human and not some sort of awesome alien bass machine.

  • Sorry wrong note at 6:53.

    Sounds so good though!

  • If anyone knows I would love to know if any of the Level 42 studio recording were done using one of those lovely Pangborns. Where can I get one, its a shame he doesn't make them anymore.

  • Excelente música! Mark King acaba de provar que pode sêr tão bom no Jaydee quanto no Alembic.Parabéns Mark King ! meus parabéns level42.

  • Nice version of this. I like the sound of the Pangborn more than the basses on most of the versions of "Love Games" I've heard on YouTube.

  • beautiful vid !!!

  • Great sounding AP bass.

Crumbs! Look at the width of that neck, more like a five string then a four. Those were the days eh?

    Thanks for posting.

  • thx ryan!!! love this concert!! Mark looks amazing and they all sound awesome...xxx

  • Mark King has used Ashley Pangborn basses since the 1980s.

  • Great upload Ryan! Do you or anyone elso know what electronics were used in that custom bass? Its an alembic inspired bass, but dont seem to have alembic elcetronics. It sounds closer to a JD.

  • I don't to be honest ramon i think it was an Alembic inspired bass but on saying that so was the Jaydee.I think it was electronically closer to the Jaydee probably down to cost and affordability at the time.

  • @ramon709 just been looking up these basses, and its an Ashley Pangborn, very nice sounding and gorgeous looking

  • @jonannlou Yes indeed gorgeous!

If this is the same bass he used in the clip 'sun goes down' then he auctioned this bass on the "Veronica muziek dag" in the netherlands I believe in '87/'88 (not sure). A dutch guy bought it for FL10.000... would be around 5 thouzand Euros now not including inflation of course. Mark Rigned the top of the bode with a magic marker. Trying to find a clip of that on the tube, but no luck so far.

  • He also used it on the Lessons In Love video. Listening to the track now maybe he used that bass for that song? Its got a very crisp light sound....??? I can't find much info about the basses... I'll keep researching

  • His E string is out of tune.

  • geez louise..how can u tell??? :-)

  • Superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
