retail parks and new by-pass roads appear to be part of the problem so I wonder if that will happen when the Dunshaughlin by pass is up & running next time I come back there from Manchester UK - something similar did happen with the Blanchardstown Centre and to a certain extent with the Trafford Centre here in Manchester

Born in Brooklyn but spent my summers in Arklow till I was about 10 years old.. My mother was from there, We owned a house right on the river on Doyles lane (I think the name was Doyles)Some of my fondest memories were walking down the river walk with my mother as a kid. Sad to see the town wich was magical to me as a kid is gone. At least I have the memories of Arklow,, BTW the last time I was there was about 1980 or so.. Bobby and the H block days. Hope Arklow comes beck.

Thanks for that. I think you would still love Arklow if you came back....it has the river and the lovely harbour...a small marina..and so on...it is just going thru' a bit of a economic shift . All towns modernise...and Arklow will find a way to get the balance.

One pub has closed down and is being renovated, vet shop is still open. Many large buildings on main street are looking to redevelopment but have been held up by those that oppose it. The main street will get worse before it gets better. High rent & rates don't help. It needs spin off effect from shopping centre or cash injection from county council. We should be looking at the carlow or wexford as examples for d future. Economic crisis can be blamed too.

Nice documentary!

YouTube has no concept of fair use and they don't really care anyway. If you are using the music as a sound track to a video and it is just in the background, that is ridiculous to mute the sound on someone's video.

Thanks New York....the 1st was better cos it had Van Morrison's Cypress Avenue screaming in the background and that gave it edge...I will just have to work harder in Garage Band. Thanks also for yr reminder re saving material...has made me more vigilant....The Arch will come !
