Two bits of Trek Black Science that would come up in such a war. Red Matter and the Genesis Device. Erase a planet even a star system with red matter, or rewrite a planet with the Genesis Device. Some guys at StarDestroyer. (net) made a comparision in warship capabilities between the Next Generation Enterprise(I think it was E) and the run of the mill Imperator Star Destroyer(Like the one from the opening of episode IV) and found that the Empire would OWN the Federation
BTW, as a Halo fan, I gotta say that the UNSC would get owned by the Empire
@Perion Sorry to butt in 4 months later, but in all honesty IF (big if) Trek were to have effect combat ground forces, they would look and be equipped a LOT like HALO Spartans, with shields, armor than actually can stop several direct hits, but with phasers not solid projectile weapons. By the 27cen, Trek can easily mass produce all the gear troops need and one Trek trooper would be worth at least 20 stormtroopers.
@Perion Pretty much. I don't deny it. But I base it on the idea the Trek Tech is constantly moving forward. SW Tech not so much. The shape of Trek tech, based on the shows and movies, leans toward armored and/or shielded soldiers that could easily beat Imperial stormtroopers. In all likelihood, the Federation Soldiers would look a lot like Halo Spartans, but sleeker.
Not really, in Trek they have never used armour in their entire history since going into space, and there is Zero evidence that they ever will, not even in the 29th century.
Star Wars technology is also constantly improving, especially during wartime, Kotor technology may look superficially the same as film tech and it may or may not even operate on the same principles, but in terms of performance the two are radically different as the later eras have the technology being more and more refined.
Not to mention that Star Wars has a massive lead on Star Trek, it would take Trek thousands of years to catch up, and by that point Star Wars will be yet another few thousands of years ahead.
@Perion Heh...well--until Master Chief and Cortana started doing their havoc-wreaking thing. He's bad enough with Human UNSC guns--an absolute nightmare if he starts capturing and using Imperial toys. Meanwhile,Cortana and her summoned army of R2 units start having their own fun...
@trekkie117 The Halo ability to wipe out all life in the galaxy isn't impressive, since it cannot be used except as a mutual suicide, people who see it as an instant win button aren't looking at the full picture here, in the case of Star Wars vs Halo, using it is and Instant LOSE Button.
And Master Chief/Cortana are not unstoppable, the Empire wouldn't have much trouble dealing with them (main reason they appeared to have so much trouble with Luke and co was because they were letting them go )
The Reason the Halo is an instant lose button is because the Empire is extragalactic, at best you might take out their expeditionary force while wiping yourself out in the process, then the Empire would send another force, this time smaller and more cautiously investigate what happened to the last one, at which point they would find out that the denizens of the galaxy wiped themselves out to stop the first fleet, capture the Halos, study them, and seek to make them more... discriminate.
A far more likely Scenario however would be the Empire discovering the Halos long before they encounter the UNSC or the Covenant, and already seek to either make it more discriminate, destroy it, or switch to ships crewed by droids and droid soldiers (such as SD10 war droids and Dark Troopers) and/or operated by remote to prevent the Halos from being used against them, of course they would also be searching for the ARK, which given the proliferation of probe droids, would not take them long.
@Perion dude. the empire (and previous republics) couldn't cover half of their own galaxy, much less scout out the entire Milky Way. not to mention that they actually have to move AROUND obstacles in real space even in hyperspace. the probes would run into so much shit. slipspace rapes
@trekkie117 Hyperspace is MUCH faster than Slipspace, even the covenant need days to travel a few thousand lightyears, while the Empire can travel the entire galaxy in a day. The Rebel base on hoth was located with ease using the Probe Droids.
There is a massive difference between crossing a galaxy and controlling it, it takes a great length of time to get that kind of population etc.
Also you forget how much of the galaxy can be mapped through a simple telescope.
@trekkie117 The republic/Empire controlled roughly 75% of the galaxy by a new hope, and had scouted out the vast majority of it, the so called "unknown regions" are only called so because they haven't been thoroughly mapped in thousands of years, because they didn't have anything of specific value compared to other parts of the galaxy, so their charts and such in that area are horribly out of date.
@trekkie117 not really, since the courses can be plotted before travel, and the probe droids can map the courses, plus they can move above or below the galactic disk to save time and effort, using telescoping information to get a basic idea, and probe droids to map out the specifics.
@Perion that's still not exactly what I'd call "quick"
though, it would PROBABLY work, it would take a lot of time. not to mention that the probe droids stand a good chance of getting destroyed by UNSC, Covenant, or even Forerunner Sentinels. possibly even before they can gather any decent data
@trekkie117 Not really, because the droids send back telemetry on what happens, they would know it was destroyed by an outside force, and only one or two would be liable to fall victim to this, the UNSC and Covenant are very small organizations, and even if they lost a couple in such a manner they would still be a completely unknown race.
No matter how you slice it, the Empire would know about the covenant and unsc before vice versa, and would be completely helpless against an assault.
@Perion not really. in just about any engagement, the Imperial ships will be outmatched by the firepower from either the Covenant, or the UNSC. ISD shields only repel enough firepower for a MAC slug to gut them. they have to blast their way through asteroid fields (see Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back) because an impact like that would (and did) fuck them up. they're just mot meant to take on kinetic weapons. and Covenant ship-to-ship plasma. well, it's like a plasma pistol on a mongoose
@trekkie117 keep in mind the ships that were flying through the asteroid field had been in there for days, and on top of that, had previously been hit by the Hoth ion cannon, so their systems weren't all up, such as the one struck by the asteroid and lost it's bridge tower, we also saw asteroids hit ISDs that had their shields up and flash into nothingness.
So while a MAC round WOULD swiss cheese an UNSHIELDED Star Destroyer, one with it's shields still up would just laugh it off.
@Perion the only impacts with the ships in that sequence occurred when the one ISD got RAPED. all the other asteroids had to be shot. the shields would at most slow down the MAC round. and not much at that. i have no doubt the shields would survive a MAC hit. but, only as long at it didn't cut through any emitters and/or other systems critical to shield operations. and the chances of that are pretty slim. like i said, the ISDs shields are not intended to effectively repel kinetic weaponry
@trekkie117 Yes, they are, ISDs have two shield systems, Ray and Particle shielding, one is designed to deflect energy weapons, the other to repel kinetic weaponry, they both work in tandem and can repel the same amount of force.
I suggest you watch Empire Strikes Back again, we see asteroids that impact the shields of star destroyers flash and vanish harmlessly, there was only one Impact that did serious damage to an ISD in the sequence, and it's shields were noticeably down.
@trekkie117 The Shields would be able to absorb over 680 mac rounds hitting it every second for 30 minutes straight before going down, and their weapons would be able to respond in kind, any UNSC fleet even remotely capable of that kind of firepower (which would be the entire fleet many times over) would be destroyed long before the shields dropped.
the shields don't actually stop the MAC blasts. they slightly lessen the impact. the shields will collapse after one MAC blast. and not because it overwhelmed them, but because they didn't actually stop the slug, and it will gut the damn ship. they would literally let the MAC round through. that is how the shields on these ships manage to last as long as they do. they don't prevent the damage, they merely lessen it
@trekkie117 No that's shields on Star Trek ships, Star Wars shields block the damage entirely, they don't start taking damage until the shields are down, thus, the MAC slug would be stopped entirely, and they would need hundreds to thousands of MAC Slugs to bring the shields down.
@trekkie117 The ONLY times they lessen the damage rather than absorb it all is when the attacking force of the blast is greater then their peak shield dissipation, which even the shields of an Acclamator could withstand a Cairo Station MAC round hitting it every second without any bleed through.
@Perion What....Convent is fucking huge comprered with UNSC...and far,far more technologicly advanced....but I think if there was a war between UNSC and the Empire....Spartans would rape every storm trooper they met
@Dalbert342 The Covenant is tiny compared to the Empire and by far technologically inferior.
Spartans wouldn't last long against Stormtroopers, which while they lack the genetic engineering they have superior weapons, a stormtrooper gun is roughly the equivalent of a fully automatic Brute shot on full power.
If the Spartans run into Storm Commandoes, Dark Troopers and the like, then they wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance.
@Perion I'm not so convinced,first....Spartans have been known to single handedly take down a Hunter[if you played the game or read the books you know how hard that is],and secondly Spartans can engage troopers at longer ranges...because if SW movies are any indication,Troopers can't shot for shit...and thirdly,Spartans have shields installed in their armor ,Troopers don't...and things from Expanded Universe don't count
@Dalbert342 Hunters aren't that tough really, at least by Star Wars standards. Also Troopers being bad shots is a common misconception. If you recall Vader, Tarkin and Leia all comment on how the only reason they were able to escape the death Star without being killed by the Troopers was because they were let go.
The Spartan shields get blown apart by weapons like Brute Shots, in terms of training and skill, Stormtroopers are on par with ODST, in terms of equipment, they are far superior.
@Perion ODST aren't Spartans....they are normal soldiers with special training. And Spartan shields regenerate after a while. I would still give a advantage to Spartans....the only way I can see Spartan being killed by Stormtroopers would be if it was 1 Spartan against 5-6 Troopers
@Dalbert342 And considering there are only a few hundred Spartans tops, vs Quadrillions of Stormtroopers, the Spartans would be outnumbered not 5-6 to one, but 5-6 billion to one. Their shields wouldn't have the opportunity to regenerate.
@Perion there is that, yes. although, you gotta realize that with the Master Chief, if there is any feasible way for him to survive in a situation. he'll find it. it's that luck that ruined the end of Halo 3
also, the MAC gun on a UNSC frigate could easily gut a Victory-Class Star Destroyer from bow to stern. AAANND, Covenant ship-to-ship plasma weapons do double duty. every shot is like an ion cannon. and we've both seen what they do to a ship
@trekkie117 actually not even the MAC gun on an orbital defense station would be able to penetrate the shields of an Acclamator, let alone a Victory class and those are 10x the firepower of a shipboard MAC.
Imperial class star destroyers, the regular line vessels of the Empire, carry over 1,200x the firepower of Cairo Station, (800 teratons per second, compared to 9.98 teratons per 15 seconds) and can target and engage over 100 separate ships simultaneously. With shields of comparable strength.
We've seen what Covenant ship-to-ship plasma weapons do to inferior, shieldless, titanium clad UNSC ships, but not superior, Shielded, Neutronium clad Imperial ships. Consider that a Cairo Station style MAC gun can tear through all but the toughest Covenant ships in one hit, but be barely noticed by the shields of an ISD.
"if there is any feasible way"
Exactly, IF, which is why he's doomed, his "luck" is basically the in universe explanation for loading up a saved game or checkpoint.
they don't do much of anything. they only block part of the shot. and not a big part, since they still take major hull damage. one MAC slug would easily punch through an ISD. and if we're talking ship-to-ship, UNSC ships are lined with 50mm PDG's. and they're perfectly suited to deal with the ISD's plasma weapons. they actually make a more effective defense than the ISD's sorry-ass shields
@trekkie117 Name one instance where an Imperial ship shield only blocked part of the shot rather than the entire thing,
PDGs aren't going to do jack against turbolaser shots, since each one is equivilent to a Cairo Station MAC at minimum.
Once again MAC slugs on a ship are, at best, 1.17 teratons, compared to the 800 teratons per second their weapons can dish out, and their shields can take for half an hour straight before going down, the ISD would barely even notice them.

Dude, I spent the first couple minutes flailing at the screen, and the rest staring in slightly awed geekery. Awesome junk. And hysteria comes in at the sight of Halo randomness. Yay...
In a slightly different note: Seat belts, the Future Needs Them.
To be honest it's not like it matters, Star Wars ground forces are vastly superior to Trek Ground forces, granted that's not saying much, even modern or World War 2 ground forces are superior to Trek Ground forces.
besides the Death Star is overrated, better off with a Galaxy Gun if you want to blow up a planet, and Trek worlds don't use planetary shields so an ISD is more than sufficient.
@Perion Its a shame that star trek is very limited to its movies and TV-Shows in terms of canon-stuff seeing how games and novels do such a great job expanding the universe.
@Perion why would anyone want to wage war on ships meant to trek around the galaxy? Its like a warship trying to wage war with a U.N peaceboat. Theyve got weapons but cant shoot first unless being shot at...
u might get some bang for your buck if u pick on Cybertron or smthing...
@Perion But against Master Chief and the Spartans, Kirk and Picard, whatever Jedi are left (including Obi-Wan and Yoda), and the possibility of Vader's redemption and return to being Anakin...
@MrImastinker Star Destroyers have so much interior security it would take less effort to conquer cardassia prime than it would to take over an ISD. I mean I could write an entire thesis on what it would take to do so, hell I could fill a page with just the cliff notes/bullet points of the insurmountable hurdles they would be facing. suffice it to say that Star Destroyers are NOT built like Federation ships, which are trivially easy to commandeer.
hey...they made " Freddie -vs- Jason " who would've thought that something like that would have ever come out or would have been accepted by the moviegoing public ?
that was good but the timelines are off the wall, this including the appearences of clone troopers, darth vader, palpatine, young kirk, aged spock and captain picard at the same time, having just one timeline of the two franchises each would be fine in my opinion instead.

@trekkie117 not really, since the courses can be plotted before travel, and the probe droids can map the courses, plus they can move above or below the galactic disk to save time and effort, using telescoping information to get a basic idea, and probe droids to map out the specifics.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion that's still not exactly what I'd call "quick"
though, it would PROBABLY work, it would take a lot of time. not to mention that the probe droids stand a good chance of getting destroyed by UNSC, Covenant, or even Forerunner Sentinels. possibly even before they can gather any decent data
trekkie117 1 year ago
@trekkie117 Not really, because the droids send back telemetry on what happens, they would know it was destroyed by an outside force, and only one or two would be liable to fall victim to this, the UNSC and Covenant are very small organizations, and even if they lost a couple in such a manner they would still be a completely unknown race.
No matter how you slice it, the Empire would know about the covenant and unsc before vice versa, and would be completely helpless against an assault.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion not really. in just about any engagement, the Imperial ships will be outmatched by the firepower from either the Covenant, or the UNSC. ISD shields only repel enough firepower for a MAC slug to gut them. they have to blast their way through asteroid fields (see Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back) because an impact like that would (and did) fuck them up. they're just mot meant to take on kinetic weapons. and Covenant ship-to-ship plasma. well, it's like a plasma pistol on a mongoose
trekkie117 1 year ago
@trekkie117 keep in mind the ships that were flying through the asteroid field had been in there for days, and on top of that, had previously been hit by the Hoth ion cannon, so their systems weren't all up, such as the one struck by the asteroid and lost it's bridge tower, we also saw asteroids hit ISDs that had their shields up and flash into nothingness.
So while a MAC round WOULD swiss cheese an UNSHIELDED Star Destroyer, one with it's shields still up would just laugh it off.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion the only impacts with the ships in that sequence occurred when the one ISD got RAPED. all the other asteroids had to be shot. the shields would at most slow down the MAC round. and not much at that. i have no doubt the shields would survive a MAC hit. but, only as long at it didn't cut through any emitters and/or other systems critical to shield operations. and the chances of that are pretty slim. like i said, the ISDs shields are not intended to effectively repel kinetic weaponry
trekkie117 1 year ago
@trekkie117 Yes, they are, ISDs have two shield systems, Ray and Particle shielding, one is designed to deflect energy weapons, the other to repel kinetic weaponry, they both work in tandem and can repel the same amount of force.
I suggest you watch Empire Strikes Back again, we see asteroids that impact the shields of star destroyers flash and vanish harmlessly, there was only one Impact that did serious damage to an ISD in the sequence, and it's shields were noticeably down.
Perion 1 year ago
@trekkie117 The Shields would be able to absorb over 680 mac rounds hitting it every second for 30 minutes straight before going down, and their weapons would be able to respond in kind, any UNSC fleet even remotely capable of that kind of firepower (which would be the entire fleet many times over) would be destroyed long before the shields dropped.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion you're just not getting it
the shields don't actually stop the MAC blasts. they slightly lessen the impact. the shields will collapse after one MAC blast. and not because it overwhelmed them, but because they didn't actually stop the slug, and it will gut the damn ship. they would literally let the MAC round through. that is how the shields on these ships manage to last as long as they do. they don't prevent the damage, they merely lessen it
trekkie117 1 year ago
@trekkie117 No that's shields on Star Trek ships, Star Wars shields block the damage entirely, they don't start taking damage until the shields are down, thus, the MAC slug would be stopped entirely, and they would need hundreds to thousands of MAC Slugs to bring the shields down.
Perion 1 year ago
@trekkie117 The ONLY times they lessen the damage rather than absorb it all is when the attacking force of the blast is greater then their peak shield dissipation, which even the shields of an Acclamator could withstand a Cairo Station MAC round hitting it every second without any bleed through.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion What....Convent is fucking huge comprered with UNSC...and far,far more technologicly advanced....but I think if there was a war between UNSC and the Empire....Spartans would rape every storm trooper they met
Dalbert342 1 year ago
@Dalbert342 The Covenant is tiny compared to the Empire and by far technologically inferior.
Spartans wouldn't last long against Stormtroopers, which while they lack the genetic engineering they have superior weapons, a stormtrooper gun is roughly the equivalent of a fully automatic Brute shot on full power.
If the Spartans run into Storm Commandoes, Dark Troopers and the like, then they wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion I'm not so convinced,first....Spartans have been known to single handedly take down a Hunter[if you played the game or read the books you know how hard that is],and secondly Spartans can engage troopers at longer ranges...because if SW movies are any indication,Troopers can't shot for shit...and thirdly,Spartans have shields installed in their armor ,Troopers don't...and things from Expanded Universe don't count
Dalbert342 1 year ago
@Dalbert342 Hunters aren't that tough really, at least by Star Wars standards. Also Troopers being bad shots is a common misconception. If you recall Vader, Tarkin and Leia all comment on how the only reason they were able to escape the death Star without being killed by the Troopers was because they were let go.
The Spartan shields get blown apart by weapons like Brute Shots, in terms of training and skill, Stormtroopers are on par with ODST, in terms of equipment, they are far superior.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion ODST aren't Spartans....they are normal soldiers with special training. And Spartan shields regenerate after a while. I would still give a advantage to Spartans....the only way I can see Spartan being killed by Stormtroopers would be if it was 1 Spartan against 5-6 Troopers
Dalbert342 1 year ago
@Dalbert342 And considering there are only a few hundred Spartans tops, vs Quadrillions of Stormtroopers, the Spartans would be outnumbered not 5-6 to one, but 5-6 billion to one. Their shields wouldn't have the opportunity to regenerate.
Perion 1 year ago
@Dalbert342
Expanded Universe does count unless the films directly and explicitly contradict it, that's the definition of C Canon.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion there is that, yes. although, you gotta realize that with the Master Chief, if there is any feasible way for him to survive in a situation. he'll find it. it's that luck that ruined the end of Halo 3
also, the MAC gun on a UNSC frigate could easily gut a Victory-Class Star Destroyer from bow to stern. AAANND, Covenant ship-to-ship plasma weapons do double duty. every shot is like an ion cannon. and we've both seen what they do to a ship
trekkie117 1 year ago
@trekkie117 actually not even the MAC gun on an orbital defense station would be able to penetrate the shields of an Acclamator, let alone a Victory class and those are 10x the firepower of a shipboard MAC.
Imperial class star destroyers, the regular line vessels of the Empire, carry over 1,200x the firepower of Cairo Station, (800 teratons per second, compared to 9.98 teratons per 15 seconds) and can target and engage over 100 separate ships simultaneously. With shields of comparable strength.
Perion 1 year ago
We've seen what Covenant ship-to-ship plasma weapons do to inferior, shieldless, titanium clad UNSC ships, but not superior, Shielded, Neutronium clad Imperial ships. Consider that a Cairo Station style MAC gun can tear through all but the toughest Covenant ships in one hit, but be barely noticed by the shields of an ISD.
"if there is any feasible way"
Exactly, IF, which is why he's doomed, his "luck" is basically the in universe explanation for loading up a saved game or checkpoint.
Perion 1 year ago
@Perion are you kidding me? you have to be.
i've seen the shields on those ships
they don't do much of anything. they only block part of the shot. and not a big part, since they still take major hull damage. one MAC slug would easily punch through an ISD. and if we're talking ship-to-ship, UNSC ships are lined with 50mm PDG's. and they're perfectly suited to deal with the ISD's plasma weapons. they actually make a more effective defense than the ISD's sorry-ass shields
trekkie117 1 year ago
@trekkie117 Name one instance where an Imperial ship shield only blocked part of the shot rather than the entire thing,
PDGs aren't going to do jack against turbolaser shots, since each one is equivilent to a Cairo Station MAC at minimum.
Once again MAC slugs on a ship are, at best, 1.17 teratons, compared to the 800 teratons per second their weapons can dish out, and their shields can take for half an hour straight before going down, the ISD would barely even notice them.
Perion 1 year ago

blacksun2175 2 years ago
To be honest it's not like it matters, Star Wars ground forces are vastly superior to Trek Ground forces, granted that's not saying much, even modern or World War 2 ground forces are superior to Trek Ground forces.
besides the Death Star is overrated, better off with a Galaxy Gun if you want to blow up a planet, and Trek worlds don't use planetary shields so an ISD is more than sufficient.

@Perion why would anyone want to wage war on ships meant to trek around the galaxy? Its like a warship trying to wage war with a U.N peaceboat. Theyve got weapons but cant shoot first unless being shot at...

@Perion But against Master Chief and the Spartans, Kirk and Picard, whatever Jedi are left (including Obi-Wan and Yoda), and the possibility of Vader's redemption and return to being Anakin...
Palpatine is royally f***ed.
MrImastinker 5 months ago
@MrImastinker among that list the only ones that are really that big of a threat are the Jedi and Vader's redemption. The rest are a non-threat.
Perion 5 months ago
@Perion What? Not even Kirk or Picard?
MrImastinker 5 months ago
@MrImastinker Nope, they're decent commanders but they just don't have enough to work with to make a difference.
Perion 5 months ago
@Perion Hm. Maybe if they hijacked a Star Destroyer... I just don't know.
MrImastinker 5 months ago
@MrImastinker Star Destroyers have so much interior security it would take less effort to conquer cardassia prime than it would to take over an ISD. I mean I could write an entire thesis on what it would take to do so, hell I could fill a page with just the cliff notes/bullet points of the insurmountable hurdles they would be facing. suffice it to say that Star Destroyers are NOT built like Federation ships, which are trivially easy to commandeer.
Perion 5 months ago
@Perion Okay. So how long do you think the Spartans would last? IMO, not very long.
MrImastinker 5 months ago
@MrImastinker considering there are how many left? and really one hit from an E-11 would bring them down, E-11s can actually outgun an Onager.
Perion 5 months ago
@Perion And imagine Kirk trying to neck-chop Vader. That would end SO badly for him.
