@Dragdamar 300 had one of the biggest budgets. It was a summer blockbuster. But It was ripe with bad acting and a bad script. I'm not sure why the critics said it was bad, but I'd imagine they said the same thing. When a movie about war doesn't have a good script supporting it, it's easy for it to come across as mere war mongering rather than a movie about freedom.

Andrew Klavan isn't "smart" so much as incredibly smug. He knows that he's never going to go hungry, telling right-wingers what they want to hear. 300 got a 60% on RT. The reviews in general are hardly savage. Passion got 50%: mixed. Batman sold well because it was fucking BATMAN.

And nearly every movie in history except maybe Toy Story has illicited personal attacks by critics. John Nolte, a neocon reviewer, savaged Avatar pretty badly because it didn't fit his talking points.

Empire of Lies is a great book and I highly recommend it, no matter the age group this psychological thriller is a very intense read as you are locked into the story of a man who believes the seams of his reality are pulling apart and the only way to come out alive is to strive towards the truth that no one sees.

Most left wing democrats Ive ment would call themselves "objective" and "scientific" HOWEVER most of them are not. I'll tell you what the problem is: Both sides of the aisle know that the conservative stereotype is being evil and corrupt (Cheney is Veidar, etc). Also, both sides know that the stereotype of liberals is being good and kind and caring. Even the negative lib stereotype is about libs being too naive, not evil.

So conservatives feel they must question themselves and be critical. Liberals feel they're good, and beautiful, and right about everything. But that's just my opinion.

@TomerMMHA I tend to agree. The general stereotype is liberals being good-doers while conservatives are more in the alley of self-interest - it's a classic socialism vs. conservative relationship. What's absurd, however, is that self-interest more often than not brings about more prosperity and welfare than does policies directly aimed at that goal.

As the saying goes, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." Think rent-control, affirmative action. Aimed policies, failed results.
