then they army gets better technolegy and then that machine, dude thing is hurt or nearly killd and they have to put him in that body like thing

and then they go back to finish fighting the better armed enemy?

Actually both Appleseed movies are based on manga series created by Masamune Shirow in mid of the 90'ths when nobody even dream about games like Crisis ( in times when strongest PCs have 486 processors and Voodoo series graphic cards.) .

So i would say that rather Crisis is based on Appleseed (and cyberpunk as whole) concept than reverse.
