The tune it is sung to is an old English drinking song, meaning it was new words for a song that had been sung in the pubs as the rowdies got drunk. This is a good, clean version and there is no reason to compare it to someone else's version.

Miley Cirus's intrepretation is her right!Yes, this young lady is beautiful and has a lovely voice. I wouldn't go so far as to say her great singing voice and straight forward version doesn't automatically mean her father will be good for our country. If he follows the lead of the other Republicans currently obstructing much needed change in our country, Brown's daughter can sing her heart out and it won't help us at all!

As a resident of Mobile, AL and a person directly affected by the BP disaster, I'm wondering why Democrats aren't screaming at Obama for his inexcusable inaction in response to the crisis. Dems and the liberal media were quick to blame Bush for not reading a crystal ball and knowing ahead of time that the Levees would fail, yet Obama hasn't done a thing for 7 weeks AFTER THE FACT in response to this DISASTER. I'm wondering where the "change" is......

Just lovely. That is what our National Anthem should sound like. Too many "stars" bellowing out their "interpretations" of the Star Spangled Banner without a clue about what fools they are making of themselves. I guess ego make you deaf.

It appears I have grown too cynical about the Anthem and the USA. Her rendition, the razor sharp salutes of the servicemen, the fighter overflight in the mist... all uplifted my spirits greatly.

singerof70s, how in the world can you accuse someone of being "ignorant, hateful and rude" when you immediately declare someone's "spelling is atrocious" based on one typo? Also, sarcastically defining the word "atrocious" for her would fit snugly under that category as well. I think there's just way too much anger here. Ayla sang the best she could, and I think she performed admirably. I guarantee you her father is proud of her, and the crowd reacted quite favorably.

If you knew the history of this song, you might be a bit less stuck up about how it is sung. The tune it is sung to is an old English drinking song, meaning it was new words for a song that had been sung in the pubs as the rowdies got drunk. Of course, almost no one sings the entire song and very few know the whole story about how it came to be written -- or where the tune came from. This is a good, clean version and there is no reason to compare it to someone else's version.
