  • Thank you so much for sharing. I'm getting 1 of mine done next week and it just occurred to me to wonder about the scar. Great to see how well yours is doing!!

  • As I'm typing this (phone) I'm in bed in horrible pain :-(

I have two huge ugly ones on both my feet but for some reason the left one is a bit bigger and always hurts the most, don't get me wrong the right one has it's moments but I've been considering the surgery over two years I'm just afraid later on down the line what would happen :-(

  • You sound like Sigourney Weaver

  • Why didn't the doc fix them both at the same time? Seems strange to go through two separate recoveries..

  • I love your tattoo

  • I wish i could say the same.. Horrible experience with a paediatric surgeon who has over 25yrs experience. Now i am seeing an orthopaedic surgeon, wish i could have my God given feet back :((

  • How long will it take to be able to to stand on your toes like that? I had bunion surgery about 1 and a half months ago.

  • How much did u pay to get your bunion removed? Just curious

  • I had bunion sugery when i was 16 im 24 now ago it was best thing I ever did . I remember getting bunions when I was in 4th grade. when I got 16 my left foot was horrible . My bunion was huge!!! I got both of my feet done at the same time . It was rough but I don't have to hide my feet in public anymore and I'm crying about my feet hurting when I walk . It's worth getting and u will b sleep the whole time your in surgery .

  • Can I ask how pain is the surgery?

Are you awake during the whole surgery or asleep?

I'm worried about mine upcoming surgery... I feel like un-doing this surgery :(

  • Also my muscles still hurts in order to limp.Im just afrain that maybe it wont be better.what do you think by your experience?Thank you.

  • Hi, i have already left you a comment on your video. my question is that "did your doctor told you to do physiotherapies?"cause yesterday i went to my doctor cause i have still pain(i did the operation on 14 of april),not on the surgery area but on the rest of my foot.he told me to massage it with oil and do some exercises and if in 20 days it wont do a better move, to do some physiotherapies. the point is that it makes a move but not like the other foot(and ofcourse it doesnt go down).

  • Your video is a relief for me, 48 days ago i did a bunion surgery too. And i was wondering why my toe doesnt do the down move like the other one. I thought that something went wrong with the surgery. But now that you have the same thing i feel relief. But, ill go to the doctor again next week just he to take my stress away and explain me my questions. Bravo for your video!!!

  • please don't wear high heels - your foot is looking, and as you say, feeling fabulous. Keep it that way. There are so many cute flat shoes that don't have to put your ankels and phalanges through the ringer. I look after mostly over 60's in a veterans hospital and you will really regret not treating you feet like gold...best of luck and enjoying dancing in normal shoes.

  • I want Bunion surgery but i duno if i am too young i am 21 but had bunions since i was 9.. how long do you have the cast on for, how long does it take you to walk again,, will you're feet grow again nd can you sleep during the surgery

  • How long were you in pain for? I am 3 weeks post op and now in athletic shoes, the pain is still unbearable, i can not walk on it comfortably, still limping. The toe is still swollen i can't have anyone touch it. I am praying that this pain isn't persistent and it will heal within a couple of moths. I feel so restricted at the moment and it is stressing me out. I just don't want to regret it. Dr says my healing is looking great. By i don't feel great :(. It is an emotional process as well

  • How much does a surgery like this cost? I think I'd rather be put to sleep for a procedure like this?

  • Your foot looks great....quick question. I had tailors bunion surgery done 9 weeks ago and I'm worried about the scar. I've been using mederma religiously and its helping some. What did you use on yours?

  • I wanted to ask, the range of motion you have when you bring your foot forward is very good! Tell me, did you have that same range about 2 months after surgery? Or was it a much less range back then and improved over time?

  • @NinaBlueNJ It was much less at first. The surgeon gave me exercises to do and it was slow and steady improvement over several months. I had to be patient.

  • @picker68,

Thanks. I'll have to be patient too.

But what exercises did your surgeon give you to do?

  • Hey, i too had a right scarf osteotomy at the end of January,

I had problems with my incision healing due to an allergic reaction to the stitches, anyway, i am now all healed and out of my wonderful gorgeous ortho shoe and am doing physio to help the toe joint gain back it's movement. but wondered how long it was before it was comfortable to wear heels again? I'm not an avid wearer, but i do like them for special occasions.

I also have the same difficulty in moving my toe backwards like u

  • Please wear shoes with roomy toe boxes. This is for everyone out there. You should be able to wiggle your toes in a shoe and your big toe shouldn't touch the top of the toe box unless you stretch it up a bit. I know that this isn't always possible due to fashion choices, but you should at least alternate the "fashionable" shoes with something that fits well.

  • can i ask you somthing pls? did they put pin insite to hold it straihgt? i will do the same in feb and i dont want enything sticking in my foot, did they use the nidlle in it? ir they only remove the bone?

  • @akovic There are two screws in my foot and one in my toe (in the bones). it all depends on what kind of surgery you have and how much work they have to do to fix it. Good luck with your surgery.

  • @picker68 omg i cant put eny forend optcect in me,if i ask the doc you thing he will say ok i wil remove the bone only? or say watever i say?

  • It is amazing how tough a bone is, but when it come to your foot, it isn't so tough. Imagine a hard bone changing shape just due to tight shoes. In the past, i thought nothing can change the shape of a bone unless you were still a child or in puberty. It just shows you how fragile a bone is , yet it is considered strong, but in reality, not that tough.

  • @zcarenow This condition has nothing to do with how tough or fragile bone is. Bunions are a misalignment of bone, it's being pushed out of it's proper placement in the joint by improperly fitting shoes, it's not a bone just changing shape due to pressure. The bump you see is supposed to be there, it's just out of place, plus there can be swelling and calcium buildup from abuse making it look worse. Bones don't just change shape.

  • Thank you very much, this video was really helpful and my mum has bunions! She's 47 and looking to do something about it. Do you recommend surgery? And Im 12, and I think that there's a possibility of them getting worse as I grow, anything to avoid bunions before there get worse? Thank you.

  • Can you show how your big toe moving now?

  • What made u decide to go through with the surgery? My doctor told me that if is not bothering me to not mess with it. When I was working in a restaurant it bothered me everyday, I would come home in tears. Now I work at a desk so it doesnt bother me. But my conserns is I might not work at a desk all my life. One bunions is moving under my second toes and I think I might need it bc its not gonna get better bc I'm a very active person. So can u tell me what drove to doing surgery?

  • @shawnta2002191 It was starting to hurt more, and was starting to make me avoid taking long walks. I also was having more and more trouble finding shoes that would fit. My doctor said it was going to keep getting worse with time, and it made sense to have the surgery now rather than when I will be older as a smaller bunion is easier to fix and younger people heal faster. I suppose you have to look at the benefits but remember the risks of having surgery.

  • Great video. I just had one removed 10 days ago and my God the pain!!! How soon until it feels better?

  • @GinaBambina100 I know!! It was terrible for about two days, then it was merely horrible for a week or so. Then it was gradually better and better. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply, by now you might be walking around a bit!

  • @GinaBambina100 I know! It was horrific for a day or two and then merely awful for a few weeks. It gets better though. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply to your post, it's been two months so by now you are probably feeling much better and your foot might even be looking a bit more human. I hope all went well.

  • beautiful! question: why did you choose to wait a year and a half between surgeries? im curious because I am planning on getting my feet done "back to back" as quickly as possible. I think I may be underestimating the recovery time a little bit

  • how much was your surgery costs?

  • The podiatrist cut my foot on the top.And I have full movement.I am very pleased.$70,000 well spent, worth every penny.

  • I would like to thank you for posting this video. It was an important source of information form me prior to my op on 01st June. Indeed, so much so that I copied your idea and I have now posted my record of my procedure. My other foot will be done in November. Thanks, CJ

  • You have very pretty feet! Nice tattoo as well :)

  • ow, my toe still hurts to bend upward, it still has some healing left to go.

  • the bunion is cute! XD

  • Thanks, this is a very helpful video. I have two questions. First, did the surgery shorten the toe? I notice it is shorter relative to the 2nd metatarsal than on the left foot (my feet are asymmetric even without surgery). And second, I don't see the treble clef tattoo on your original video. Did the surgeon sneak that on you or was it a celebration on your part post surgery ;-)

  • @bartmoore Ah, two very good questions ;-) You are right, the surgery involved straightening the first bone in my toe. The surgeon took out a V-shaped section in the middle of the bone, brought the sides of the V together and fixed it with a screw, and that did make it a little bit shorter. The tattoo was a little treat I got last summer, come to think of it, it makes sense to get a tat along with surgery, it would have made good use of the anaesthetic ;-)

  • Wow! I have very bad bunions, much worse than what I can see on your left foot, and I am really looking forward to the day I can get them fixed. This video really gives me hope for good feet someday!

  • Thanks for your kind comment. I am glad it helped.

  • when do you plan to have bunionectomy on your left foot?

  • Nice feet ;-)

    It looks great!
