Hey there. I'm turkish and I'm truly, deeply, sincerely sorry for what happened to the innocent Armenian people during and after WWI. People call it massacre, vengeance etc but I have no problem calling it a genocide. Nevertheless I think hating all the Turks for what happened is just unfair and forcing the Turkish government won't change anything. You must understand how fear of treason has paralyzed the Turkish minds and educational system is just based on that fear.
I hope that soon Armenia and Turkey will normalize their relations, and that's just what's happening right now. Pretty depressing, but a VERY IMPORTANT book and stay the smart person you are for your age, and PLEASE CONTINUE to read. All the best.

One quick question.
Why does Armenia STILL want Turkey to "admit" their "genocide"? I mean seriously...just drop it. Turkey had a young and diffrent country and now Turkey is alot different. I've been there and it's SOO nice. Anyways, is Armenia doing it just because they want to be known and want the money?

it's not about the money
is just that admiting it makes those who went through it rest in peace, since they know that what happened to them won't be forgotten, that it wasn't in vain, that it won't happen again.
maybe if people didn't forget their past or tried to denied it, calamities such as the holocaust wouldn't have taken place or even ridiculous wars wouldn't be supported nowadays.
so much pain, suffer and death could have been avoide if we had learned from the mistakes made in the past

I remember that. Dennis Hastert was doing this huge thing cuz his office is right there. Thats also the same spot that all the chicago illegal immigrants marched to when they all ditched work to show how good of workers they were. No. It is not weird. Byt he way, Turks have alot of Armenian blood--more Armenian blood than Turkish blood. It started with "UPSHOT SALJUQ" (look up on google SALJUQ upshot" and spell it like that. It continued for 900 years. So, SOAD members are your genetic brethren.

The rancid Genocide DENIAL keeps the memories fresh. If Turkey apologized -- or at least denied BUT returned the money, farmlands, history, churches, villages, women, boys, girls, ranches, gold, and millions of lives it stole, murdered, kindapped, confiscated and tongue-chopped -- we could have peace.

Yes, and because you acknowledge that the Armenian Genocide, for you, is a viewpoint. That is perfectly fine. However, I was pointing out that it is irrefutable an incontestible, to which you responded you are only 13. You need another 10 or more years to be able to process the information. Me, I walked through the University library and read denials and primary accounts. Enjoy Tankian and worry about history if and when you have the freedom and time.

logster I highly recommend "A Problem From Hell" by Samantha Power, it's a great book on 20th century genocides and specifically American INACTION towards them; the Armenian Genocide is discussed in the first chapter, and the book goes up to the ethnic cleansing in Iraq and Bosnia. Pretty depressing, but a VERY IMPORTANT book and stay the smart person you are for your age, and PLEASE CONTINUE to read. All the best.

First of all it seems fairly clear that the Genocide happened.
Secondly stop using buzz words to make Turks feel guilty. The current generation were uninvolved.
Thirdly it was a government atrocity. England is taking part in, essentially, an illegal war which has killed thousands of innocent people but the people are not to blame. The corrupt positions of power are. The Turkish people (except for the select few who were directly involved) are innocent civilians.

Yes, MOST of the current generation were uninvolved but at least they could admit to their lies and I dont know if you are aware but there was a shrine being put in place in Wales to show that the Welsh people recognize the Armenian Genocide and the ceremony was ruined by a group of Turks who shouted and booed all the way through it and when the Welsh choirs were singing nothing could be heard because of a group of stuck up Turkish people
So not all of this generation are not guilty.

If nothing happened all those years ago, the why the fuck does Turkey vote for Armenia in the Eurovision??? Its all politics. They are trying to make everything seem so nice and happy by trying to prove that there are no hard feelings, and that Armenia and Turkey are friends. For the last time, soad didn't split. They are focusing on their soloalbums for some time.. some time being the year that has gone now, and perhaps for an additional 1-2 years. Serj will be relasing his soloalbum very soon.
