Thanks for the cool techinical video man! The folks who are complaining about this video maybe just need to use their imagination better for the parts you are explaining and/or listen more carefully to your video, because after your detailed explanation I now have a good understanding of how these work. Keep on tinkering and making cool videos!
This Dick-Head has no explanatory skills whatsoever. Has no fucking clue what he is doing nor understanding. He needs to get his head together before attempting to explain what is going on.
@g6ypk That dick head just saved me a trip to the mechanic. I lost reverse gear in my Husqvarna and had no idea that these boxes need oil. I'm used to Greenfield dry clutch mowers. I topped it up and it's all good again. The small leak isn't an issue. Thanks jay15kz, you saved me some money.
I have a Craftmans - model 217-270641 -riding mower --- it sat for about 2 years - now the transmission is making a nasty metal to metal noise and not working well at all - no reverse and forward is pathetic and loud grinding. Is there any hope for this transmission?
@jay15kz I looked at it -- From the top looking down there is a pully with a fan on top and a tube with a cap coming out of the back -- is that tube the 'filler' tube? And if yes - what to pour down it? I think I get the purge thing - but Is that the filler tube that is about 8 inches long and sticks up?
I have a question...the hydrostatic drive on my John Deere 116 seems to be failing...losing power more and more.....one time I dumped a bunch b-12 chemtool in a Ford Mustang automatic transmission and it basically healed that.....would the same the or something similar work on this John Deere Hydrostatic drive????? Thanks! Scott
@scottchopchop well a hydrostatic transmission is a glorified hydraulic system. the gearbox oil will work as the hydraulic fluid while it lubricates all moving parts, like the diff
I loved the video; a challenge to cover such a wide subject in detail, however you delivered a very rapid fire description, with few if any audible pauses or non-information; and funny too. The diagnostic section convinced me the problem was likely in the transaxle and the video gave me the confidence to take it apart. If you can suggest a source of parts or an internal diagram I would be obliged. Thank-you
Why did i watch this while I was ntoxicated. Wow, obviously no "steady shot" option on that camera. Seriously though, good information and I actually learned something. Thanks
oh right,, now i have itt,, ???

This guy must be a hydraulic engineer cause they are the only ones I know of to call parts like a piston a thing.

@riceski not sure what oil you need but atf will work or hydraulic oil and that is the top up tube

@scottchopchop manual gearbox oil would work

@jay15kz
manual gearbox oil would make my hydrostatic drive work better?
did I understand you correctly? and could you explain just a bit why manual gearbox oil would make it work better? many thanks! scott

jay15kz 1 year ago
approximately what "weight" is manual gearbox oil? is it like 20W50 or heavier?
thanks again. Scot
scottchopchop 1 year ago
@scottchopchop to be honest it depends on the transmission, you want something quite thin
