  • Will never get 1 clock cycle from me.

  • this is such a very good game. that you are able to acquire the full-blown version for f-r-e-e. just google ps3bigskydownload and check out the very first link. it's such a thrilling and enjoyable game. take part in!

  • When the PS3 is idle I use it to F@H for team HardwareCanucksForum ( 54196) GO CANADA :) looking for a team.please join all welcome.

  • i wonder why they dont use both the CPU and the GPU in the PS3 for folding? that would surely give them a large boost. and why not release a client for the Xbox 360's GPU? that has unified shaders so it would be easy.

life with playstation=folding at home, right?

  • the new GPU clients for PCs are much easier to program for as they are designed with general purpose GPU computing in mind.. whereas the older ones (which feature in both the PS3 & 360) would have to be programmed in a very complicated manner.. and the benefits don't outweigh the potential headaches getting them to work. The RSX GPU in the PS3 currently takes care of the protein visualization.

360 client will never happen becoz of Red Ring of Death trouble..

  • Microsoft would not want to go to the trouble of making up a program that only shows up its much talked about RROD problems.

Life with Playstation is a program that includes 'channels' and one of the current two is the Folding@Home channel. The Folding@Home channel will always run.. but you can use other channels while work is still being done. They plan to add more channels later.

  • What about sun SPARC systems?

  • what about em? lol nah sorry i don't anything about em.

  • Lets face it this is a much safer way to find the cure to cancer than what they tried in I am Legend. I've been running none stop to make sure we find the cure before Krippen does.

  • this isnt a cure, this is a way to find one.

  • it makes me feel good when i run this app

  • Folding@Home is now at 4 Petaflops!

The GPU guys have combined to over 2 Petaflops now and the big push recently has come from an extra 20,000 'active' PS3 folders thanks to the 'Life with Playstation' program update.

  • gud vid...too bad the song is kinda gay...

  • lol i dont mind the song! haha Matchbox Twenty are killer!

  • do u even kno wat folding@home is?

it runs simulations on ps3s to help cure diseases like cancer, ur activly sayin u hope cancer isnt cured...

  • You have no idea what you're saying...YOU'RE A FUCKING RETARD. Learn to spell as well. You probably don't even understand what the hell the program does. Get your facts straight

  • You are a fucking dumbass. Who said anything about it making your computer run faster? Too bad there's no download to help find the cure for retardation, you could use it.

    inb4trolld

  • he means using lots of computers to make the 'distributed' supercomputer faster. But i feel sorry for him for the fact he thinks people using their own computer to help out important studies into diseases like Cancer somehow means your computer must be a 'robot'... lol hes a retard alrite

  • child.... grow up

  • HAHAHAHAHA WHAT A FUCKING RETARD!

  • lol obviously someone's a little sore over their inability to purchase a high def tv. If you had Blu-ray you wouldnt be knocking it.

  • Huray for earth.

  • dam it i tried it on my ps3 but its just not working it says error could not download from server plz guyz help me and i am 100% sure that i am connected to the internet

  • GPU clients themselves have now broken the Petaflop! So now both the PS3s and GPUs have over 1000 Teraflops each, total project is 2.7 Petaflops!!!

  • join my team save trhe world

    # 133661

  • I've an Xbox 360, and I use it as an expenive DVD player and I still play Ms Pac-Man on it. So, in the end, it's a waste of money for the average user to keep upgrading.

  • And to the person who said "don't be idiot, you're envious because an Xbox can't do this."

I don't even have an Xbox...

But when it comes down to it, who the heck cares?

We're fighting terrible diseases, and thats what counts.

And FYI, i have F@H on my computer.

  • To clarify:

I never said that the F@H coulnd't reach 1 PFLOPS+, because i'm sure it can.

What I said, and perhaps many of you didn't understand, because it was poorly wirtten, was that a SUPERCOMPUTER. Note: That word implies a SINGULAR computer. Not SUPERCOMPUTERS. Yes, if you linked all the computers in the world, you might have 10PFLOPS, but that would be an insaine amount of individual computers, linked together.

  • mate.. a Supercomputer IS not just one computer.. Its made up of hundreds if not thousands of individual computer processors linked together by a very fast network. The main difference is Folding@Home is a DISTRIBUTED supercomputer, but still a supercomputer, with the network linking the processors is the internet, somewhat slower, but its still an effective supercomputer.

  • NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to fold much in past and today im gonna reinstall it. You know if they discovered something important? They found some cure?

  • F@H has just cleared the 2 PETAFLOPS mark... WHOOT !

  • with the recent introduction of the GPU2 client.. Folding@Home is running at 1628 Teraflops!!!

The GPU2 client brings better support for more ATI graphics cards.. that with great support from PS3 folders (currently 41,500 active PS3 folders) is really pushing numbers sky-high. Look out for Folding@Home to be the first project to crack 2 Petaflops!

  • will they ever support Nvidia video card?

  • just recently they have! And its having a big impact on the OS Stats.. Folding@Home is now sitting on 2.4 Petaflops! ~700 Teraflops coming from the GPU client (ATI/Nvidia compatible)

  • check the OS Stats, i've got it linked in 'about this video' ... why? Coz Folding@Home just crossed past 1.5 Petaflops!!! 1502 Teraflops to be exact! haha

270,000 'active' folders have pushed this figure with 40,500 of those being active PS3s.. pumpin in a lazy 1225 Teraflops!!! haha now if we can get around 100,000 PS3s.. possibilities are endless! As well as gettin everyone on their computers to fold a bit - Cheers

  • wow i dont know the exactly whats true but alot of these comments i know are inaccurate

  • like?

  • ive been folding for a while now. i hav 8 WU's finished.

  • My dear mother was tragically dismantled & died of Alzhiemer's disease.I'd love see this disease defeated.Fold, fold, fold please!

  • Ok, i'm going to do distributed computing with my mac mini. So i'm going to cure cancer and i'm going to increase the Mac OS X Teraflops Quote too! =)

  • I've got my own Playstation 3 folding now! - smASHer88_PS3

Come on guys - Its so easy to start helping out!

    Cheers

  • This is beautiful. Everyone go fold on the computer and PS3 now! My mom has Multiple Sclerosis, so everyone please fold!

  • You forget about ATI GPUs in the credits. Whata shame!

  • sorry mate - hopefully we can get a lot more of the gaming community using their almighty powerful Graphics cards (specifics ATI ones (for now)) to help out the cause!

    Cheers

  • microsoft will not join bill gates is evil

  • Please read about Mr Gates, he has done a great deal with his money to aid people in need. Windows is one of the alternative platforms that folding at home can be run on. I would agree with you if you mean that Xbox360 should have its own version .. that truly sucks :)

  • Completely unaccurate. Whilst it IS possible that many hundreds of PS3s interconnected could've achieved that, it is highly unlikly. Also, the worlds fastest supercomputer, has reached 3 peta FLOPS.

  • haha the worlds fastest currently operating supercomputer is still Folding@Home.. A new IBM supercomputer (centralized) i beleive has passed 1 petaflop, but only in testing, & it is not currently in operation i don't beleive. Theres no possible about it, Folding@Home has achieved over 1 Petaflop & so have the PS3s just by themselves!

  • Actually you're wrong. The world's fastest supercomputer is IBM's new Blue Gene supercomputer--the Blue Gene/P. None has broken the 1 petaFLOP barrior yet but Blue Gene/P has the capability to reach 3 petaFLOPS. (sorry my original comment was wrong.) I still find it incredibly hard to belive that the ps3 has reqached 1 petaFLOP because even the worlds fastest supercomputers that take warehouses to maintain cannot reach it yet.

  • the ps3 break that barrier, if you don't believe. It appears as a Record Guiness on the 2008 book edition.

  • don't be idiot, you're envious because an Xbox can't do this.

  • reguniran, youre a madfanboy

  • fuck me dead are you an ignorant stupid prick.. take a look at the homepage link i provided and search for OS Stats.. actually i just updated it to include that link as well - there you go! haha

  • uhm, you stated that ps3's can reach 1 petaFlOP..... 1 PS3 only runs at approximately 2 teraFLOPS. Unless Imisunderstood your statement, you are wrong.

  • they can? they currently are! and i said 'collectively' numbnuts

  • omg...ok, the true fact is that blue gene/P has a max of 284 Teraflops, the ps3 is not 1 petaflop (thats just insane), but is 2 teraflop. The combination of many ps3 cell processors around the world has helped the folding at home system to reach 1000 teraflops. Hence blue gene has been owned, finally. Although blue gene has been owned its is the most powerful stand-alone computer to date.

  • the ps3 is not 2 teraflops.not even close.

  • hence the fat that its taken 34000 of them to generate 740 teraflops. these two comments are supposed to be replying to ruseygates but the button isnt working atm.

  • the only processor which is active for protien folding is the cell. And 100% of the thing is not used. Not even 65% is used.

  • im not sure exactly how much of the 'potential' power of the Cell is currently being used.. but better coding in the future should unlock more power for folding.

  • I hate to be a bother, but I need to specify something. What I meant about Multi-Core processing wasn't explained properly. 100% Usage settings on 1 F@H Console will utlize what your machine see's, which is only 1 core.Example:100% on a quadcore will use 25% of the entire CPU or 6.25% per core.Dual Core at 100% = 50% across the board. If you want info on running multiple F@H consoles to help out more PLEASE send me a message through YouTube mail. I would love to help anyone willing to help others!

  • now dosent that show how the ps3 is more powerful than the 360 360 dosent have this shit LOL

  • lol geez, i'd love to get more PS3s involved purely on this fact (advantage), but we're actually trying to push Microsoft to join in & release Folding@Home for the Xbox 360! We can all band together to help fight diseases! A bit of friendly competition doesn't hurt tho..

  • Please guys.. Join in the fight to help cure diseases! Join Folding@Home

  • Hey man, I just want to tell you I really appreciate you letting people know about Folding@Home, and I searched youtube specifically to see if someone was spreading the word. Thank You. I am team number 12581. We are currently ranked 3,681, and it's just our work PCs & a friend from Germany and a local friend. I will fire up a couple new E6850's running 2 F@H cores next week! ;)

  • Oh! One last thing! We are (F@H Community) is currently running 1544 Teraflops!!! I also want to mention to others that even though GPU's and PS3's process faster, we still must have your CPU's for VERY important tasks that PS3/GPU cannot calculate. Also, if you have a multi-core system, 100% usage settings will only utilize 50% of your CPU. So, do Ctrl+Alt+Del & look at the specs, and you will see. So, CRANK IT UP!

  • You said something about changing the floding@home i don't know how to get it up 100% i'm on vista but i don't know which version

    Thanks

  • i want to help the world too i have a ps3 I'm joining now

  • hooray for computiting sciences! maybe this will help save me one day! hooray for the cell. Expensive but maybe it was worth it?

  • Playstation 3s own their own collectively have cracked 1 Petaflop! Good work to Sony & Folding@Home participants!

  • dude. il love to join ur team but i dont know how. im not usin a ps3 im usin my pc

  • go to the website it should tell you
