Gainor says people want out? Young people only want out because they think Republicans have screwed them over and spent all their social security money, but actually there is a 2.5 trillion surplus and the worst case scenario is after 2037 people will only get 78% of their benefits. Anyway, most people don't want out. 85% oppose cutting social security.
@MarmaladeINFP A surplus of worthless government issued treasury bonds. When Lyndon Johnson put the trust fund "on budget" in the 60's it became fair game, and has long since been pilfered. Having said that, the government does have an obligation to the people who did pay into this system over their lifetimes--a bond is indeed a promise.
The needy already had access to government Healthcare coverage (Medicare and Medicaid), and the government already has an income-generating methodology: income taxes. So, why would we even need Obamacare at all? Why mandated insurance purcahse? Why is it needed to have Military-Trained medical-personnel? I think it might be another attempt at Martial Law.
@wired55 "Obamacare" was designed to address the soaring costs of health care in the US. Medicare and Medicaid, limited though their services may be, do give the needy access to HC in this country, but any good conservative will tell you that these programs are unsustainable (thanks to skyrocketing cost of care). The plan is to curb these costs while incorporating some 40 million uninsured, who already put an enormous strain on the system through unpaid emergency room visits.

Dan's right. There's a way to take care of just a/b everyone in a free-market society, especially when there's not so much of our money being taxed.
I don't know why ppl keep putting their faith in government--it's more corrupt than any company could ever be.
