no. by the time Nintendo entered the tetris game, there were already a lot of other companies claiming credit for Tetris. *rolls eyes* Nintendo held the license in Japan from one of those companies. Anyways, now it's officially licensed through the Tetris Company.

Yeah the rights for Tetris have been disputed for a while now. It was believed that the Russian guy who created it sold the rights & relinquished any royalties after. But then the other side of the coin is that he never relinquished any royalties & never sold his rights for Tetris. I really dont know and there was even a documentary about the rights of Tetris where the ytried to figure out who owned the rigths and how it got passed down.
