@slicker41 No engine. An airplane pulls the glider up a few thousand feet at the beginning and then it is all riding the wind and finding lift like the birds do. The beeping tells you if you are going up or down without having to look at an instrument.
Bruno somehow puts himself into situations so he flies only in lift, I assume to offset the fact that I am continuously in sink. I guess that keeps the world in balance. :-)
...Your beautiful videos does soaring as a sport a great service!
I last soared in 1993 and watching your videos brings back a flood of good memories. No such thing as HD video back then!!! Your capturing your adventures in HD makes it all so real for many of us grounded... Keep it up and soar safe!
@allisonmodels Nope. I have my power license but don't fly power quite enough to justify getting an instrument rating yet. Will start the training once I can get back to flying power planes over 75 hours a year. In 2011 I ended up flying gliders around 160 hours for the year so that didn't leave too much time for the Cessna. :) Take care, Bruno
@aaron8862006 Wish I could fly enough to be able to make this demand a reality! :) Thanks for watching and I can't wait for 2012 with my new glider! I promise you will see even more amazing stuff. Take care, Bruno
hello, i was wondering if you have any tips for me. im getting my student soaring liscense in 7 months, (as i am turning 14) i have been saving up money for this for, well, my entire existence. i have 300+ hours of simulator time.
@TRAPBOULTERNAS Sounds like you are very ready to start your lessons. My best advice is to fly at least once a week during training and if possible 2-3 times per week. You will progress much faster and the training will end up costing less because you don't forget stuff in between lessons. Best of luck!!! Bruno
@pdutube Sorry for the delay in responding. I use a Mountain High oxygen system. It is a tiny box that monitors your altitude and feeds the exact amount of oxygen you need. It conserves the oxygen and you know you are getting enough. We fly all the way up to 18,000 ft on many days and this system is pretty much mandatory. Take care, Bruno
@Randomtei LOL, thanks :) Well the good news is that you have another 50+ videos you can watch from me on youtube right now. Thanks for the support. I am headed off to compete in 2 glider contests over the next 45 days. Expect lots of new racing videos. Should be fun. Take care, Bruno
@bviv I'm just revising, with some of your cross country flying on the computer screen right now!!! I've even got your field landing video on my Ipod to show some of the other guys at the gliding club.
Good luck with the glider contests! I shall be looking forward to seeing those racing videos :)
Incredible video! I am trying to figure out the readings on your cockpit in what appears to be an analog altimeter (bottom center) which varies from 700 to 2000 units. Would that be in meters? it seems you have climbed a lot more than 1500 ft!

@doudy009 This technology is in the process of getting patented and once everything is finalized we can talk more about just exactly what they do. Sorry I can't say more but thanks for your interest though.
is that engine powered? and also whats that beeping sorry kinda a newby

sometime you should also have a chase glider/plane. It would be great to see how you're positioned relative to the ground (i.e. how close you get)

Another great flight, wasting a lot of time enjoying these.
Quick questions for a never flier (dabbled with soaring models)
Is the wind coming right to left or left to right?
That flat light over snow must be very concerning, even at ground level it makes things hard, but from above it must make it very tricky indeed.
Thanks again
