Could the sound quality be any worse? I really love Bimal Roy and would love to watch this video on him, but it's really impossible to hear what they are saying.
Truly one of the greatest mainstream Hindi Film makers of India, with films like 'Do Bigha Zamin', 'Sujata', 'Bandini', 'Madhumati', 'Devdas',
'Kabiliwala'. He was able to find a perfect blend of artistically satisfying films which were successful at the box office as well. Excellent music, composed mostly by Sachin Deb Burman and Salil Choudhary, was an integral part of his films. Frames from his films are so aptly described by ace cinematographers as black and white paintings !
For those seeking heart-warming, wholesome, meaningful and artistic entertain in Indian cinema, Bimal Roy definitely provides this. Add to his movies music by Salil Chaudhary and S D Burman, Bimal Roy productions holds a place of it's own.
Even today, Madhumati, the musical mystery is one of my personal favourites.
