  • Best part about the ES is the resonant tone you get from it. I don't think I've played anything better when playing live. I highly recommend using a direct cable (tip and ring) and not use a DI when playing live. That is when the guitar comes alive. Don't go searching a new/different preamp... you might just need a new sound guy. Try one.

  • My friend has a Taylor 614ce and a GS, and ran a preamp that he had set to a flat sound system. Taylor sells an preamp but it's much more expensive than good ones you can buy elsewhere. He recently got an LR Baggs Venue DI box/tuner/pedal as a gift and he loves it. I'd recommend checking it out.

  • ES is not bad..but there are alot of other pickups that are better..

ES itself isnt that good... if you have ES then get a preamp..that way it will sound super good :O

  • The Taylor ES sounds good to me but the early generations had lots of problems with the sensors leaking. I didn't think it would happen to mine...but it did! Taylor replaced it free of charge and their technician even smiled when I asked him if this happened a lot lol. However, their new replacement has held up well.

  • I got my 314ce in 2000,before the expression system!I would not swap it for anything but im gonna get one eventually!Love my Taylor!Sounds so good after 8 years!

  • good guitar!!!!

  • The ES system...one of the best acoustic pick-ups EVER.

  • they need a better speaker... not bad, just too many "so..."'s
