Thanks for this! I've just about finished building a Fine Molds 1/72 Millennium Falcon and now need to learn how to airbrush so these vids will come in well handy!
@greenday0050 Yeah, they finally released a new run of the 1/72 Falcon a few months ago so I ordered one from Hobbylink in Japan. They are a bit pricey (about £200 inc P&P) but that's less than half the price they've been going for on Ebay over the last few years.
@Jellyform I've still got a big motorised X-wing model that has lights and folding wings to build. Had it for almost 10 years lol. Maybe I should review it?
Oh yes, gotta be really careful with that. That's why I have a massive bottle of clear coat. Watch part 3, you will see this and if you look carefully you will see a paint chip on the hand guard. Not that bad since it looks kinda like weathering lol.
a quick question, does your finished product have any problems with scratches from moving parts etc?? great vid, all my questions have been answered quite easily! :D

Great Vid man!, but you should have made the note, DO NO use lacquer based primers/paints on any of the ABS parts, ie joints/hands, Bandai has started to use more and more ABS plasitc in their kits, and lacquer is the enemy!, makes it brittle and breaks, I know Tamiya and Veleo are acylric, but Tamiya spray can primers are lacquer based, sucks to go through with all the effort for an awesome paint job, and then have the model break and slowly fall apart.
you said its because the surface of the plastic is too smooth so primer is needed before painting it, would sanding the plastic parts help if i didn't use primer? thanks! this would help a lot.
@TheChallenger13 Yes that works too and I have tried it before when I was following others guides. Some people sand and prime. I'm too lazy to sand the surface so I stick with priming as its so much faster and less effort.
If you sand dont use the kind that you find in a local DIY shop! it needs to be very fine, like 600 grit and above to get a nice finish.
@nynosix lol pretty good actually. I'll get round to doing some paint vids once i work out a decent setup, its not easy filming and using an airbrush in my room. I got a lot more vids to put up before I get round to this.
Thanks for comment. Going to make a part 2 soon. Youre at the same stage as me a few months ago. I'll be posting more vids on this now that I'm getting used to talking on camera a bit more.
Thanks for the great video. I am a gunpla modeler who is trying to get out of the spray can phase, and your video is just making me feel more confident in making that choise. Over a short period of time you do realize how much paint is really wasted using spray cans compared to airbrushing. Most people think that buying an airbrush is going to just take up more space and all the supplies will cost more than spray cans, but realistically you would save more transitioning to quality airbrush.

the basics are the same, just needs tweaks to suit ur style.let it be gunpla scale model or w40k the skill u acquire can be aplied to all. m a scale modeller and also a gunpla builder. the most important thing is to keep researching, learning and adjusting to ur stlye. enjoy
@kid3050 I'm really not good at hand painting - all I know is to thin your paints even when hand painting to get a smooth finish. I'd recommend looking at Warhammer modeller videos for hand painting tutorials. The skills they have apply to Gunpla also.

is it safe to directly spray paint onto the parts with spray paint you buy from the hardware store?
