I am a firetender for firewalks and I can tell you that I have been burnt by the very same coals that "are poor conductors of heat". Both walking on them and right before when I was preparing them. Don't discredit something based solely on some skeptics theory unless you've actually tried it. And besides, whether they coals are or are not hot is not the point of firewalking in the first place. You're entitled to your opinion I'm just saying don't knock it til you've tried it.
Did you notice that they walk on the fire after the fire has diminished? Once the coals are covered in ash, they walk. It's an old trick, based on the fact that wood ash does not hold or conduct heat.
