Tamino claims to base his opinions on independent thinking, yet he accepts the idea that the Queen of Night is the evil force in the blink of an eye. I suppose the old man's accusation of "weakness" for believing the Queen spoke truth made the young prince eager to seem intelligent. Which he isn't...

Über die Königin der Nacht. Ich glaub, im Original heißt's: "Sie ist ein Weib, hat Weibersinn." Aber in der Zauberflöte gibt's ja mehr so nette Zitate. "Ein Weib tut wenig, redet viel", zum Beispiel. Mein Favorit ist aber: "Ein Mann muss eure Herzen leiten, ohn' ihn pflegt jedes Weib aus seinem Wirkungskreis zu schreiten." Hach, ich weiß, warum mir "Figaro" besser gefällt! *ggg*
Und wenn Figaro Susanna nervt, knallt sie ihm einfach eine. *lol*
Die Da-Ponte-Opern sind halt auch textlich einfach besser, jetzt nicht nur pct. Geschlechterrollen. Und musikalisch gibt für mich zB eine Cosi im Großen und Ganzen auch NOCH mehr her als eine Zauberflöte.

allerdings war einer von den priestern, die sich um tamino und papageno kümmern, eine frau und hat sich ein bisschen über den "männerverein" lustig gemacht. naja und im "priesterchor" waren ja auch einige frauen^^
Sarastro is the good guy although he has taken Pamina away from her mother against her will... That only works if you accept that a woman's will has no worth at all and that men are allowed to do against women whatever they want.

stimmt :) die deutschen zitate kenn ich auch ziemlich gut...
"Figaro" gefällt mir auch besser, da gibts wenigstens einen ausgleich zwischen der kritik an männern und frauen^^

Habts ihr in eurer Schulaufführung damals eigentlich irgendwie versucht, dieses Frauenbild in der Zauberflöte zu ironisieren oder so?

Because they were Free Masons.
