thank you so much for posting this. i had a recording of this piece on an old 78 and lost it. have been looking for it ever since. do you have any other recordings of this piece? perhaps older versions from the past? thanks.
There's a CD from Chandos with Rachmaninov's The Bells, Choral Symphony and Vocalise completed with this Tchaikovsky piece and his Festival Coronation March. Performed by the Scottish National Orchestra by Neem Jarvi. Soloists in the duo are Suzanne Murphy, Keith Lewis.

There was a performance in London with the London Symphony in the late 1970s of this duet, with tenor Carlos Montane and an American soprano which was broadcasted by BBC. Anybody has a recording of that performance ?. These young singers have good voices, but as students they are extremelly academic with very poor phrasing. It will be interesting to hear it with such an orchestra as the London Symphony and Mr. Montane
That is sooo incredible and I felt deeply moving on this duet piece "Duet of Romeo and Juliet" by Tchaikovsky-Taneev....and Tchaikovsky will always be proud of his only sketched work just days before his death on November 6, 1893 at the age of 53.
Incroyable! I heard this at a Tanglewood concert once. It was billed as a work by Tanyev based on rudimentary sketches by Tchaikovsky. Whatever. It sends chills up my spine to hear it, particularly in a quality recording. Where did this take place?
Mr. Cmpozitor..I like very much your technique...your voice proyection.... WHy donñ t you put more about you in opera arias? That tenor singing Ecco ridente in cielo is afriend of yours? Post more of him too please... is nice to listen tenors like you both but singing with color, like a man. VEry good!!
Tchaikovsky on the last year of his life wanted to write opera "Romeo and Juliet", but he died. All that he was able to wrote, was his sketch of the duet of Romeo and Juliet, that was completed by Taneev. It's a rare piece of Tchaikovsky.
I'm puzzled. Isn't Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture" purely an orchestral work? There's no opera titled "Romeo and Juliet" by Tchaikovsky that I've heard of. So who wrote the vocal duet?
Could someone translate the previous comments for us English speakers... or any Romance language or German would do it for me. I'm so curious. Where was this recital, and when? They are a wonderful soprano and tenor! One doesn't hear Tchaikovsky operatic works enough.

The singing is glorious but there is no chemistry between these two.

I find this duet absolutely fascinating. Please, can somebody tell me where I can get the score to this duet or a studio recording of this?

Also, I remember that the duet was interrupted by Juliet's nurse. It was a little part with two or three words.
