@doonc00nslay3r actually, SERE school isnt a specific job. how can you retrain from special forces to SERE school? If anything, they send special forces to SERE school. i.e. para-jumpers.

@semenden I understand that SF is the same as an MP, but it's SERE is just training, and does not change your job. So how would he be able to "reclass", if there even is such a thing, if its the same training as lets say, water survival. not the same type of training, but thats all it is, just training.

@usmcpound You can train to be a SERE specialist which means that you are an instructor for SERE. It is possible to cross train into it I'm pretty sure.

I have MEPs on the 18th and 19th and I've been training for the PAST test... My Sargent took me on a "practice" PAST test and I knocked it out.. i'm so excited :)

@kinghumperdink The SERE past test is a fucking joke. I mean that with all respect. We all take the past together, CCT, PJ's and SERE. The SERE trainees only have to swim 300 meters, and they have an unlimited amount of time. They they have to do the 1.5 mile in like 12 minutes or something? Our recruiters gave us shit when we were jealous they didn't have to do they shit we did, saying "It just shows you what jobs are for men, and what aren't".

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my 2 weeks of SERE.

@TheOrangeRoad yeah bud I know. It is the easiest of the special forces.. I have a binder of all the training requirements of the PJ's, CCT, and SERE and I've been training with the PJ requirements. I wasn't saying I was a bad ass. lol. But we all have diff jobs. Whatever you are, your like a Navy SEAL with a medical degree or a guy with several thousand lbs of explosives at his back. I make sure idiots don't get themselves killed in the wild lol. Like a survivorman.. But good luck bud!

Of course they don't mention the "resistance" part. Capture, torture, waterboarding, etc. Although necessary, SERE is not a fun place to be.

That's right, SEAL'S that go through it are water boarded by SERE instructors. So they teach you things you won't see on the internet if you know how to water board. Would be an awesome job to have nonetheless.

brad they still do that as well, they have diffrent types of courses that certain high risk members of the armed service have to go through... dosnt make much sense for a crew chief to go through the same thing as a pararescueman or combatcontroler, it all depends on your job

seems much differant the army's version of s.e.r.e. which is based on being captured behind enemy lines and learning to survive and escape. although i've heard it was "adapted" not fully taken from the airman's version. cool stuff though guys.
